Lily
“Of course Professor, don't worry I can take care of it” Lily said, waving goodbye to Professor McGonagall as she ducked into the small room her and James shared as the head boy and head girl and promptly collapsed onto the sofa with a groan.
“Hello to you too Lily” he said from his desk.
“Why did I think this was a good idea” she cried
“What do we have to do now” James sighed, closing the book he was writing in and walking over to take the armchair across from her.
“Apparently I have to organize some new years eve thing as well as the Christmas party I wasn't even going to be here for!”
“But I guess I am now. You guys are coming back before new year, right?” she questioned
“Yeah the guys will be there” he said, slightly frowning.
“I can't cope with this anymore” Lily said, sitting up and rubbing a hand across her face.
“Maybe I should quit” she murmured. “i don't know if I'm cut out for this after all”.
He scoffed at her.
“Lily, I doubt anyone in this entire school could do a better job than you. You're sweet, smart, organized, literally all the textbook requirements.”
“Despite being gay” she mumbled.
“Yeah well I count that as a plus too unsurprisingly. If it ever gets too much though, you can quit, any time. I couldn't hold it against you”.
“Its alright James, you know I get dramatic when I'm tired, it's just we have to plan Christmas, I've gotta do this now, I have that exam to study for and it's Pandora's birthday soon so I need to plan that too, I don't think I've ever been so unhappy to plan a party, it's just too much”
“I could do it” he said quietly.
Lily sighed.
“No you couldn't, you're even busier than me” she said dejectedly.
“Lily” she turned to face him.
“James”.
“Trust me, I can handle it. Go home, see your family, ace your exams. I've got you.”
Lily looked at him for a minute, weighing the pros and cons in her mind before she let out a breath and sat back into the cushions.
“Fine, as long as you're sure though” she said, giving in.
“I am”
He stood, grabbed his book and grinned at her, although it looked a little tired.
“Well, guess I've got a party to plan”
he turned and left the room, tossing a
“See you Lily” over his shoulder.
She reached down and pulled a blanket over her knees, relaxed now.
Thank god for James.
