What do I title this?
Lila Brenatto better known as the hero Areia prides herself on helping those who need a push in the right direction with finding their someone. The same couldn’t be said for Lila though despite her hero name meaning warlike she’s a hopeless romantic who can never have a long and happy relationship like the people she sets up to be with each other.
The one time Lila let herself fall in love for the first time in a long while was when she met Rex Splode at the recruitment for the new guardians of the Globe. Despite her thoughts on Rex she couldn’t help but find him charming looking past the fact he’s a raging womanizing douchebag who disgusted her when they first met but the heart wants what the heart wants.
This made Lila confused about her feelings because she loathed him to where she wanted to punch him in the face when they first met over a comment he made on her. But Lila took the high road choosing to not do so until they had to fight each other where she handed his ass to him and yet they started to bond over time and agreed that the time Robot scheduled for training was too early.
All be it Lila wanted to be more respectful about it but she also said that she needed her beauty sleep and still had to go to school. If she had to pick who to hang out with guardian it’d be Amanda and Rae and Lila would love to help Robot out with whatever he’d work on before he became human. Rudy came to Lila to ask her how to ask Amanda out she was happy for them.
Despite how she was frustrated Rudy used Rex’s DNA for his own use, which felt like a violation of trust she couldn’t help but agree with Rex’s opinion on it. This was the start of their friendship which was slowly growing after Lila beat his ass and corrected gross things he did. When it came to the Lizard League’s attack Lila was M.I.A. due to Lila fighting a villain in her home town causing her to be M.I.A.
But when Lila came back to the GDA and was told by Cecil what happened to Kate, Rae, and Rex. Lila needed a minute to process this information. While sitting in the waiting room while Rex and Rae were having surgery Lila talked with Donald “Lila it isn’t your fault you were busy doing other things you couldn’t have done anything.” Lila took a breath and nodded her head “I know but I can’t help but wonder what I could have done to help,”
“I keep thinking if I was there and used my powers if I could have prevented it, the gods know I would. I wasn’t the one to get hurt but I still feel guilt for all that happened.” Donald took one of Lila’s hands into his and let her talk “If he and Rae died like Kate did I couldn’t forgive myself for not confessing to Rex and Rae but I couldn’t confess to Rae I don’t even know if she liked girls” Lila looked Donald in the eyes or well in the glasses as he took a breath.
“I understand that Lila I feel the same way you do for Rae but with Cecil instead” Donald admitted to Lila whose eyes widened for a moment “What do you like my dad-, I mean Cecil? How did I not see that?” Donald laughed “Yes I do, you didn’t know that because I hid it well, but you need to tell Rex and Rae whenever they wake up.” Lila nodded her head in agreement “You're right but you need to do the same thing with Cecil because I know he feels the same, if you need help with the hard parts let me know I’m considered a matchmaker for a reason ”
Donald shook his head at Lila’s antics but had a small smile on his face “Of course” Around that time Cecil found the two talks and said “Donald, Lila if the two of you are done talking I need Donald with this,” Donald let go of Lila’s hand and immediately stood up “Of course sir” Donald walked over to Cecil as they start to walk away Cecil stopped for a moment “Hey kid, I heard Rex is out of surgery and is going to his room if you want to pay him a visit,” Lila stood up right away “Of course I would!” Cecil smirked as he walked away knowing she would.
When Lila walked into the room Rex was still asleep from the surgery Lila felt her heart stop for a moment at the condition Rex was in she couldn’t even imagine how he looked before surgery same could be said about Rae. Lila walked over to Rex’s bed and used her powers to bring a chair over to where she’d sit and as soon as it landed quietly she sat down in it and took Rex’s good hand into hers. “Rex I have no clue if you can hear me but I just want you to know that I’m here for you and that I,” Lila took a breath before continuing to speak.
“I love you and I have no clue if you return the feelings for me and that’s okay because I want you to be happy and I have a small feeling you’d love Rae and not me it’s been there since you two started to get along,” Lila felt tears start to form in her eyes. “I’ll always love you no matter, how, where, or when same goes for Rae I love you both” Lila stood up and leaned over to kiss Rex’s forehead before she sat back down. “Damn pretty girl I didn’t know you felt that way,” Rex said his words slurred from the drugs “You're just saying that because you’re high on drugs right now Rex,” Lila said with a small smile “No not at all babe I mean it I guess it took me getting shot for both of us to realize that” Lila let out a sad laugh.
“Shockingly you are half away correct it took you almost dying to say it Rex” Lila softly squeezed his good hand “What are you saying you loved me before this Lila?” Rex asked his brows furrowed and Lila nodded her head “Yeah as soon as we met I fell for you shocking seeing how much of a dick you are” Rex laughed a little “Your right but I’ll work on that After almost dying I saw my eyes flash before even though that’s cliché but it did I see how I treated every woman I dated in the past.” Lila nodded her head along with what he said
“Yeah, I guess that happens, how about you get rest and then we’ll talk about this when you wake up.” Rex nodded his head in agreement as he fell back asleep. Shockley that was easy now that was left to confess to Rae if or whenever she woke up.
