“Did you pack everything you need?” Hope asked worried, “he is eighteen, not eight, he can take care of himself” Lyall called from the kitchen, Remus just chuckled and gave his mother a kiss on the forehead. “I’ll be fine mom, i have worked at a few yards already, Cora is used to it too” he gave Hope a warm smile and turned to leave, “i am glad you get to take Cora with you, altough I’ll miss you both, atleast she can keep an eye on you”. “Are you sure you can make the drive by yourself? I could drive you there” Lyall offered for the last time, But Remus just shook his head “no, its alright, we will be fine” he stroked the mare’s neck for one last time before leading her up into the trailer. He than said goodbye to his parents and they were off. He put on one of his favorite Bowie playlists and sang along with it.
Sirius’s pov:
“Give him a leg James, we are never catching up with Evans if you continue in that speed” he shorter over his back, increasing the tempo of his little grey mare. “Come on Rio move it” he heard James shout, But he only recieved a buck from the gelding. Sirius started laughing, But it didn’t last long, they arrived at the end of the field and Lily was standing there smirking at them. “Where have you been? I have been waiting here for ages, Lara is eater to go aswell” she grinned at them. “I swear i would have got you if James didnt go so slowmo, But you know, brothers have to stick together even if one of them suckkksss” Sirius rolled his eyes bringing out the last word. “Hey! Thats unfair, Rio just won’t…” James tried defending himself But was cut of by Lily “right, right let’s just go already” she than opened the gate to the other field and waited for them to go trough. Once everyone was in she asked “ready?” Sirius smirked and challanged her “ready to eat my dust Evans?” She just rolled her eyes at him “in your dreams Black” than she out her leg on and they were in the lead in no time, when she was passing Sirius the only thing he heard was “that is the eventing horse power bitch”. He also heard James shouting something at them, But he didn’t hear What it was. Now they were walking on the path towards the stables just chatting. “Fuck Im so sweaty” James complained “this is not the way i want to look infront of your parents” Sirius just chuckled “trying to impress my mom or..?” “Fuck of” now it was lily’s time to laugh. They all untacked their horses and went to give them a nice groom.
James was just rinsing the swear from Rio’s back when he heard a voice behind him Say “hello, i didn’t know you have arrived already” the greeting accualy sounded very cheery and when he turned around to see Regulus he was shocked by the glowup this man has had in the year he hasn’t seen him. He looked like a child last year, But now he gained some muscle and looked very fit, much more than James could ever admit to Sirius. “Hey Reg, How are you” he smiled at the younger boy and before he could stop himself he was pulling him in for a hug. Reg blushed ligthly and hesitated at first and at the end retourned the hug lightly “i-I have been okay, you should take a bath tho” he grinned. James chuckled and ruffled Reg’s hair, than he went back to washing Rio. “Oi Potter i heard Evans kicked your asses out on a trail” Evan greeted entering the washstall next to him “Hey Evan, Barty” he nodded his head towards the other boy Who has just joined them. “How was the training” James asked politely, “great accually, if *someone* could aim” Evan smirked at Barty, “Hey! Unfair! I just didnt have the lucky hand today” Barty basically shouted and turned the hose to Evan “aaaahaga” Evan screamed “ you little fucker, you aint getting away with that” it all broke into a water fight very quickly and James just laughed at them “jeez just get a room you two” was the last thing he said before walking out of the stable, taking Rio out into the field. After finally taking a shower him and Sirius met up out in the garden just chatting about plans and a lot of ridiculous things taht made no sense at all. “Oh no you didnt..?!” James laughed at Sirius not believing he could have been that dumb, just as they were laughing Regulus interupted them “ehm…perhaps you two should go and change into some more presentable clothes, dinner will be served in 15 minutes” James couldn’t help But notice How slutty of a waist this outfit made for him, Yes he definitly did change a bunch in that year. Unfortunetly Regulus just walked away and they also had to go and get dressed.
~at dinner~
“Regulus Honey pass me that sauce please” Walburga said pointing at one of the many soup dishes places on the table, there were around 20 people at this table. Food was definitly one of things James has missed about this place, altough it used to intimidating at first Walburga managed to grow quite fond of him pver the years, probably because of his achievements But that did not really matter to him. Food at his house is amazing But definitly not as fancy as it is here and he loves the French and Italian food thats assually served here. But fuck How he hates some of these people, like Lucius, pretencious prick, How can someone as sweet as Narcissa like him. He chapter for a bit with a few people, including Walburga asking him some questions about his progress and plans for the future, stealing glances at Reg Who has been quiet for most of the time, just exchanging a word or two with Barty and Evan once a while.
Remus pov:
Arriving at the manor he was too stunned to speak, he knew this place was huge and fancy, But he had no idea How much apparently. He drive trough the gates up to the stables just the way he was instructed to. He than turned of the engine and got out looking around for somebody to help him find a way around. Than he spotted a young man running in his diraction, waving at him. Once he reached him he said “hi, you must be Remus” offering him a handshake Remus gladly accepted. “Hey, Yes and you are..?” He asked trying not to sound rude. “Oh yeah, I am Frank i work around here, i am accualy here to show you around, lets start by getting your horse settled in, than I’ll show you your apartment and everything about work can wait until tomorrow” Frank said, smiling politely “oh okay, yeah that sounds great accualy” Remus returned the smile to him. Frank helped him with unloading Cora and all of his tack and feed. He than lead him to Cora’s new stall. “Wow she gets to stay in the same place the other horses are?” Remus asked genuenly surprised. “Yeah, people around here really care about every horse’s well being, or atleast most of them, its quite surprising But even tho everyone is like super rich here, most of them aren’t brats or self centered snobs” Frank said. After they put everything away, he gave Remus keys to his apartment and lead him there. “Shouldn’t i first go and see Mr and Mrs Black so they know i am here or something?” Remus asked when they arrived infront of the small house. “No, they count on you being here and expect me to show you everything you need to know, you most likely won’t even meet them around” frank assured him. “Set your alarm clock to 6am, than we meet in the house we have passed on our way for breakfast, we go feed the horses at 7am and than take them out… I accualy dont know Why i am even saying this, you have the scedule on your kitchen table” he chuckled, “thank you Frank and goodnight, I’ll see you tomorrow” he gave Frank one last smile before entering the apartment. It sure was very fancy, it even had a very modern kitchen supplied with a lot of coffee, ‘I’ll need that´ he thought to himself. The last thing he did before going to bed was texting his mom a quick message and then setting his alarm clock. He drifted of to sleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
