James lay on his back on the cold floor of the living room while staring at the ceiling with a frown on his face. Albus’ muggle favorite music was playing loud on the radio. As far as James remembers he has never been a fan of muggle music but the lyrics of the song caught his attention and the voice of the woman was quite…beautiful.

To kiss in cars and downtown bars

Was all we needed

You drew stars around my scars

But now I’m bleeding.

He took a quick look at Albus' face. It was relaxed and he was lip syncing to the song. He sure liked it. James got up and walked towards him, he sat next to Albus on the couch. Al gave him a nasty look before going back to the song lyrics. James decided to listen to it too.

I knew you
Tried to change the ending

Peter losing Wendy, I knew you

Leavin’ like a feather

Running like water, I

And when you are young, they assume you know nothing.

James scoffed at the last line. It was true, a lot of people assume that just because you’re young you know nothing about life or what something feels like. He thinks it’s not true. He knows how it feels to be heartbroken, Albus knew how it felt to watch someone and die and god knows what more. They both knew more than they should and sometimes James wished that it was just him, that Albus still was that innocent and sweet boy who was scared to be in Slytherin.

God, James really missed that version of Albus, but he loved this version of Albus too, even if he doesn’t show it in the best way, he does. If he could just go back in time…not a good idea really considering that Albus now seems to really hate that phrase and time turners.

James observed him again and he noticed how he was wearing James' old red cardigan that James did not remember giving it to him and some gray sweatpants. His glasses were on the bridge of his nose, almost falling but Albus didn’t seem to care. James caressed the green bracelet on his wrist with his index finger and thumb.

And you’d come back to me

And you’d come back

And when I felt like a was an old cardigan

under someone’s bed

you put me on and said I was your favorite.

Sweet, he thought with a small smile. Maybe muggle music wasn’t that bad. James felt Albus' head weight on his left shoulder and his smile grew bigger.

It definitely wasn’t that bad.
