She was miserable.

It was supposed to be an unforgettable night for her and yet there she was, alone and dateless.

She knew the day before that rejecting every guy that asked her to be his date in the Yule Ball would be a mistake but for some reason it felt wrong because she didn’t feel anything for these guys.

Being honest, she was so confused about something that happened a couple of days before the ball.

She was in the great hall with her best friend, Hermione Granger, talking about how lucky she was to be asked by Viktor Krum to be his date for the Christmas dance. Suddenly she heard a gasp and they both turned around to see what had happened.

‘Of course I want to be your date, draco!’ Almost shouting Pansy Parkinson said with a voice full of happiness, it seemed that she wanted all Hogwarts to know that her date was Draco Malfoy.

‘I bet she gave him a love potion’ Hermione said and the two girls giggled. But there was something weird. Gabrielle felt some kind of sadness in her heart.

Draco and Gabrielle never really knew each other, Although it seemed otherwise with all those glances and looks that they shared. It was some kind of connection that they had since they both started in Hogwarts, but that was it, a secret that they didn’t know they had.
Gabrielle was sure that if her best friends weren't the Golden trio (Hermione, Harry and Ron) and that she was a Gryffindor, maybe, just maybe she had been friends with the blonde haired.

Gabrielle was really popular in the school and not only because she was prefect of Gryffindor but because she was a really pretty and sweet girl, Not only that but she was one of the bravest girls of the house. It was incredibly weird that a girl like her didn’t had a date on one of the most important nights of every Hogwarts teenager.

and here she was, wandering around alone with her heels in her hands that had been killing her toes all night, thinking about all those couples she watched dance. Well, actually it was one couple that she looked all the way through.

Parkinson and Malfoy.

She watched how careful the boy was with his date, she felt jealous.

And because it hurted her having such confusing feelings towards someone she was supposed to hate and that's because she left the dance at midnight.

She entered the Astronomy tower and began to go through the stairs. The more steps she climbed the more pure oxygen filled her lungs making her feel so much relaxed than a while ago.
When Gabrielle arrived at the top of the tower she looked at the stars. It was a beautiful night. She dared to think that it was breathtaking even.

Suddenly she heard footsteps and turned around with a smile on her face hoping to see some professor or even Hermione that hopefully was looking for her, but never the person that appeared in front of her.

‘What are you doing here, Malfoy?’ Said Gabrielle with her smile fading.

‘I'm not allowed to walk now?’ Snapped back the blonde boy walking at the balcony of the tower, where the girl was.

Gabrielle sighed and turned again facing the stars. She was nervous. She didn’t know what to say. What happened with Pansy? Why was he alone? Was he actually looking for her?. So many questions and no way to get a response to any of those. Or maybe one.

‘Your girlfriend must be looking for you’ she said.

‘Parkinson? She’s not my girlfriend and don’t bother to flirt with me, I have no interest in that’ said Malfoy without even looking at the girl.

‘Pardon me? i was just asking’

Silence filled the space and a little blush appeared in Gabrielle’s cheeks.
She was just starting to realize that she was in the astronomy tower. Watching the stars. WITH DRACO MALFOY.

‘Such a lovely night’ Malfoy said after a while. ‘It's a shame that I have to share the view with you, Roah’ He said, glancing at her.

‘How did he know my last name?’ thought Gabrielle but wasn't gonna say nothing.

‘I can say the same with you, Malfoy’ snapped back the girl proudly.

‘Such a romantic night, it’s a shame that there is just you and I here and you are not precisely my type’ said the blonde with little to no emotion.
‘Wath is he playing at?’ thought Gabrielle. It was like he was just trying to make her mad and he was successful doing it.

‘Well, i think i'm the one to make the call’

‘Whats your call?’ Smirked the boy.

‘Well you look cute in your wool suit’ ‘It’s silk’ ‘Your right, i’d never fall for you at all’ She said looking at his eyes.
It was the first time that she could really stare into his ice cold colored eyes, she had to accept that his eyes were beautiful. It was a weird color to find and it was her first time watching that eye color.

‘Maybe this was meant to any girl who feels there's some chance for romance, but…’ She stopped for a couple seconds to approach a little more, trying to play the same game that he was playing.

‘...I’m frankly feeling nothing’ She had to look up a bit because of the absence of heels.

‘Is that so?’ he smirked once more.

‘Or it could be less than nothing’

‘Good to know… so you agree?’ Said Draco.

‘Thats right’

‘What a waste of lovely night’ they said in unison and suddenly they made eye contact with surprise at the coincidence of saying the same sentence at the same time.
A couple of seconds later they realize how near to each other they are but neither of the two move.

All of the sudden they heard what sounded like an explosion and Gabrielle gasped and took a couple of steps back from the fright while Draco put one of his hands in his pocket where his wand was.
They looked at the place where the noise was coming from. It was just fireworks meaning the Yule Ball was ending.

The two teenagrs ease up while returning to the balcony to see the shiny lights in the sky.
Gabrielle rested her arms in the fence of the terrace and lifted up her face to take a better look of the pyrotechnics.

After a couple of moments she felt a glare and from the corner of her eye she saw Draco looking at her. She instantly blushed.

Draco realized that and his cheeks turned light red. ‘At least this is better than Parkinson stepping on me while dancing’ said Malfoy trying to get over the awkward moment and seconds later Gabrielle giggled.

They keeped talking until the sun arrived.

‘I guess it’s better to leave before Filch realizes’ The girl smiled at the boy.

‘Yes’ Said Draco with a nostalgic voice. ‘See you around i guess’

‘Yeah, see you around’ Responded Gabrielle

Maybe, just maybe, this was the start of something.
