Chapter 12 Not strong enough
Dorian was helping his daughter get ready for her first year at Beauxbatons, it would be strange since he was also a teacher there and didn’t want to make his daughter uncomfortable, due to being there.
Once at the school the ceremony took place and Elizabeth was talking to a group of friends that she just met, once he saw her daughter he felt a pang of guild at seeing how those students just talked back at her just to be polite, and how her daughter stayed alone in her seat, he knew that the cause of it was his fault, due to him being a teacher and the students fearing that if they said anything Elizabeth might tell his father and so on, so the kids looked at her like if she was some kind of a teacher’s pet, when in reality he was just the sweetest girl ever and she just wanted to have friends since she didn’t have many while growing up, only her second cousin Draco and his other cousin Theodore, so she didn’t really know how to really socialize.
Dorian knew that the solution to that was, for him to give up his teacher’s spot, but he feared that if he left alone her daughter something will happen or that she will resent him for leaving her alone, his anxiety was eating him alive, he didn’t want to leave his daughter alone, but at the same time he knew that it will be the best option to make that problem go away.
It was Elizabeth’s third year in beauxbatons, Dorian wasn’t strong enough to even leave her so that way the “problem would be solved”, Elizabeth didn’t really like it there, not because she didn’t have many friends, but because even the teachers made it hard for her because of her dad, it wasn’t because Dorian was her dad , it was just that the teachers somehow though that Elizabeth might use it in her advantage to get good marks and be perfect, when in reality all she wanted was to have a normal school experience.
Dorian upon seeing how his daughter was treated, he feelt more guilty on to not giving up his teaching place so maybe that way his daughter might had it easier, he could feel how his anxiety boiled inside of him, telling him that he was a horrible father for not doing anything to change it and just letting his daughter surfer, or on how he was breaking the promise he did with his wife about taking care of her and making sure she was happy, he couldn’t take it anymore seeing his daughter like that all because of him.
He felt horrible and that didn’t help that teachers lied and complain about his daughter, that made Dorian sap a couple of time to staff and teachers, making them see him as some type of crazy person due to his quick and abrupt mood changes, till the point were Dorian saw that the only answer to that was to leave the school, but not only him but also Elizabeth, so that’s what he did, after his daughter's third year finished she went to her dorm and knocked on the door “Eli, may I come in?” He slowly opened the door, she slowly opened the door “Hi…” she said in a somewhat pained tone “Hey angel…might I talk to you?” Dorian asked as he stepped in her room and closed the door behind him”Yeah…what is it dad…” she asked and sat down on her bed.
“Well..I was thinking of…you know…hum…leaving the school…but together…?” he said waiting for his daughter's reaction “Together? You mean to tell me to just not finish” she looked at her dad, she kind of liked the idea of finally leaving this school “But where will y study then?” she asked, sure she wanted to leave this posh school, but she still didn’t understand what she would do once they left, like she still needed an education, so where would they go? “You’ll attend Hogwarts, where I studied, Theo and Draco are there too, so you won't be alone” he said, caressing her cheek.
“But…that means that we will have to move houses too..right?” she asked '' Yeah….we will move houses too..we will go to where I grew up ok? Is the closest to the train station and it back in London” he said, Dorian wasn’t really happy on the idea to go back to his old house, but that was the closest to the train station and the one that had the closest ministry of magic entrance, and also because the house was under his name and felt bad for leaving Kreacher there alone all this years.
