Seventeen
It was near Dorian’s 17th birthday, he wasn’t very excited or anything because he knew that it would be like the rest of his birthdays, boring and only receiving a happy birthday from his mother and partner.
But that wasn’t the case this year, his birthday arrived and the first thing he saw when we went downstairs was the one who shouldn’t be named, just standing there on the bottom of his stairs at his house with his father and mother next to him, “What is going on?” he asked confused but not scared.
”You are old enough to get the dark mar-” his father said but was interrupted by who shouldn’t be named “He has already the mark Orion, isn’t that right Dorian?” he said looking at the boy “Yes master that's right” he said going down the stairs and standing in front of him, her mother looked at him surprised “When did you get it Dorian…” she said looking at her son worried.
“When I was 15 mother” he said looking at his mother he could see the fear and worry on his mothers eyes “Then why are you here my lord?” asked Orion “ I’m here to inform that Dorian is going to be my successor, we talked already about it didn’t we Dorian?” he said looking at him “ Yes…” he said looking at him dead in the eyes without showing any sign of fear or any kind of emotions.
After that, who shouldn’t be named left and there was only a mere silence when suddenly his father turnt to him and grabbed him by the neck slamming him against the wall “WHY DIDN'T YOU SAID ANYTHING DORIAN?!” he yelled at him and keep strangling him, he was looking at his father “Orion leave him alone!” his mother said trying to stop her husband from killing her son, suddenly Dorian started feeling dizzy due to the lack of air, the he passed out and his father let go of his neck making Dorian fall onto the floor, his mother tried to reach to him but his father didn’t let her, and that's how Dorian spend his 17th bday passed out on his house with a red mark around his neck from his father’s hand, crying on the floor of his room, cursing himself for being born in a family like this.
At night he went downstairs and spotted his father, he was sat near the window, that was his usual spot, Dorian walked down to the couch with his book in hand, he sat down without saying a word, his father looked up at him and glanced what he was reading “You should stop reading such childish books Dorian, your an adult now, act like one” he said as he nursed his glass of whiskey and took a sip, Dorian glanced at his father and didn’t respond, he already knew that if he talked back his father will find a way to turn a pacific talk into a fight, he always did, he just sighed and keep reading his book, his mother came downstairs and sat next to her son and gave him a soft smile caressing his long hair out of his face “You should try to were it up love, it might be more comfortable for you” she tried to lighten up the mood, just for his son’s sake so he wouldn’t have such a bad birth day afterall, but that wouldn’t do much to change all the damage that had been already done.
He looked at his mother and then back at his book, his mother pulled him close to her running her fingers through his hair brushing her son’s dark blond wavy hair, and doing a simple loose braid, she loved her son’s hair, she caressed his cheek, Dorian looked at her, and leaned on her touch “You shouldn’t baby him, he’s seventeen he is a grown man” Orion said looking at his wife and son, Dorian glared at his father, he knew better to not enter in his game and ignore him, but one thing was him complaining and insulting him and another was doing that to his mother “At least she does her duty as a parent, unlike you, you do nothing else than complain and yell at anyone who dose not do things your way” he said looking at his father “Excuse me!? Who the hell do you think you talking to you brat!” he said getting up from his seat and getting closer to Dorian and pulling him up from his shirt collar “You just hate the truth of things, always trying to look perfect just for the looks of in, your just pathetic” he said looking into his fathers eyes, his father slapped his hand across his hand, his mother tried to stop it, but she relished that it wouldn’t change a thing, that her boy grew up that even if she tried Dorian will keep confronting his father.
