Chapter 3
Harry clung tighter to Moony as he watched the creature stalk towards them. Moony growled at the creature before glancing at the group of people they had run into, scrutinizing each one of them carefully. Moony nodded to himself, apparently having made a decision, before softly placing Harry into the girl’s arms. Moony then moved to stand in between the pair and the oncoming threat. The white haired boy’s arm suddenly grew into some clawed weapon-like appendage while the two-toned haired man’s teeth sharpened drastically like that of a vampire.
“Lenalee, get the boy to safety!” The white-haired boy yelled.
The girl, Lenalee, nodded before the dark-colored boots she was wearing suddenly went through a magical girl transformation and she began racing away with a protesting Harry.
“Wait! What about Moony and your friends?” Harry protested.
“You don’t have to worry, my friends and I know how to fight against Akuma. They will keep your friend safe too.” She reassured before asking, “What’s your name? Where are your parents?”
By this point, she’d managed to leave the forest and what stopped at the edge of the village entrance. Despite being far enough from the battle against the Akuma, the sounds of the fight could clearly be heard from the village. Lenalee carefully placed Harry down as they heard the fighting stop. Before Harry could say anything else though, a familiar voice called out for him. Remus and Sirius rushed towards him, inspecting him for any wounds before Remus turned to Lenalee to thank the girl that had brought his pup to the village safely.
“Thank you for keeping Hadar safe. I don’t know what we would have done if he had gotten hurt.” Remus told her truthfully as he watched Sirius cling to Harry as if his life depended on it.
Lenalee smiled softly at the scene, it was obvious that the man clinging to Hadar was his father. The man speaking to her might also be related to the boy as they had the same beautiful green eyes. Perhaps he was his uncle or an older cousin?
“It was no problem at all, I’m just happy I could help. My name is Lenalee.” She said with a soft smile.
“My name is Remus, I’m Hadar’s uncle. The man clinging to our pup is his father, Sirius. And before you ask, yes, that really is his name. Again, I can’t thank you enough for bringing Hadar back safely.” The green-eyed man, Remus, told her.
“It’s nice to meet you. Like I said before, I’m just happy I could help. My friends and I are exorcists, we fight against the Akuma and have been searching for other accommodators of innocence.” She told him.
Remus frowned, “Exorcists? You get rid of ghosts? And what do you mean by Akuma and accommodators?”
Before she could answer, the rest of the exorcists walked to the edge of the village towards them alongside a grey wolf with molten gold-colored eyes. The wolf’s tail started to wag as he caught sight of them and hurried to their side.
“Moony!” Hadar exclaimed, throwing his arms around the wolf that looked nothing like the beast it had been before.
“Do you think Hadar is an innocence accommodator?” Lenalee asked softly to Allen who had moved to stand beside her.
“Definitely, there’s no other explanation.” He replied, not sure how he felt about it.
Allen and Lavi had gotten separated from Lenalee and the bookman at some point, but had ended up finding another innocence accommodator named Koray before they met back up. Before they could take Kory back to headquarters though, they’d been asked by Komui to investigate a possible innocence user similar to Koray when they called him to let him know where they were and that they had found another accommodator. Apparently there had been sightings of a werewolf for the past few months in a forest at the edge of a small village near them. This led to the five of them walking through a forest in search of the innocence they’d been sent to find when they heard a terrifying howl alongside the sounds of explosions. They had begun to race in the direction they had heard it coming from. However, before they could go more than a few feet, a huge werewolf carrying a child raced out of the trees towards them. After they had defeated the Akuma, the werewolf had quickly shrunk into a normal-looking wolf and led them out of the forest. Watching the werewolf immediately going to the young boy’s side and sniff the boy to make sure he wasn’t injured seemed to be all the confirmation they needed to believe that the boy was an accommodator.
“What are we going to do? The kid is so young, there is no way that his family will let him join the order.” Allen said as he watched the little family fawn over the wolf.
Lenalee eyes became glassy at his words, thinking of her time with the order before her brother had joined, “They’re not going to have a choice.”
Allen and Koray turned to look at her with a startled expression, “What do you mean?”
Lenalee turned to Allen and Koray with a brittle sad smile, “Not everyone that’s in the order is willing, innocence accommodators have no choice in the matter. The most we can do is hope that they will come with us and become members of the order as well so that they can stay by Hadar’s side.”
Lavi nodded grimly, “The order doesn’t have many exorcists and they need everyone that they can get in the fight against the Earl and the Akuma. Hadar will be forced to come to headquarters, either by us or by other exorcists.”
At their words, Koray looked on the brink of tears and Allen stared at the smiling family with his fists clenched at his side in anger. He didn’t want to separate a family and he had no idea what he was going to do if the family refused to allow the young boy, Hadar, to come with them. Hadar seemed to notice Allen’s staring and waved at him happily with a bright smile on his face and that just made Allen feel even worse.
