Stella Wayne had done many reckless things in her short career as Gotham’s resident nightmare.
Breaking into a high-security LexCorp facility with zero backup? Probably ranked somewhere in the top three.
Which was why, after barely making it out alive—courtesy of some well-timed saves from Cassie and Natalia—she was now standing on a rooftop, arms crossed, getting absolutely blasted by one very loud archer.
"Stop yelling at me," Stella grumbled, rubbing her temple.
"I'M NOT YELLING AT YOU!" Natalia shot back, flailing her arms. "I’M JUST BEING... ABNORMALLY PROJECTIVE IN THE VOCAL REGION!"
"Otherwise known as yelling," Cassie added helpfully from the sidelines, twirling a dagger between her fingers.
Natalia turned on her. "Do not encourage her right now!"
Cassie held up her hands. "Hey, I’m just here for the post-near-death experience commentary."
"I was not about to die," Stella muttered, kicking a stray rock off the ledge.
"Oh, really?" Natalia snapped, throwing her hands up. "So getting shot at by LexCorp security bots without a plan was just part of the fun?"
Stella shrugged. "I had it handled."
"You did not have it handled!" Natalia shouted. "We had it handled when we showed up to bail you out!"
Cassie leaned toward Stella, stage-whispering, "She’s really abnormally projective right now."
Natalia pointed aggressively. "I will shoot you both."
Cassie grinned. "You’d miss."
Natalia scoffed. "I never miss."
"Ladies!" Stella cut in, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Can we all just take a breath and not give me a migraine?"
"Oh, I’m so sorry, does getting lectured inconvenience you?" Natalia asked sarcastically. "I mean, sure, it’s not like you almost got yourself vaporized today or anything—"
"It wasn’t that bad!"
Natalia made a strangled noise. "LexCorp fired a missile at you!"
Stella waved a dismissive hand. "It barely grazed me."
"Because Cassie deflected it!"
Cassie nodded. "I did deflect it. You’re welcome, by the way."
Stella sighed. "Fine. Thank you, Cassie. And you," she pointed at Natalia, "need to chill."
Natalia took a deep breath, visibly trying to contain her frustration. "...Next time you even think about pulling a stunt like this, I’m tying you to a chair."
Cassie smirked. "Kinky."
"OH MY GOD—"
Stella groaned, rubbing her face. "I hate both of you."
Cassie and Natalia high-fived.
