Chapter 04

Over the next seven years

You would think that doing something enormous like sending your memories back in time to yourself in a past life what change something. That there would be a reaction from the world around you, but Gideon and Fabian found that nothing changed. At least nothing that was not themselves.
Then they had gone to, if you were speaking legally, kidnap Harry Potter. And again nothing happened, nobody noticed that the precious chosen one was gone from where he should have been. They were surprised that there were no big announcements and search operations to find him, but they certainly wouldn't tell anybody that he was missing.

They made sure that nobody but the two found out that Harry was with them, they did not want that the ministry or Dumbledore to find out and send him back to the Dursleys. They could not let their little brother, even if he did not know that they thought of him like that, live through years of abuse again. Not now that they could change something about that.

And Harry had a much happier childhood than he would have had with his aunt and uncle. Every day for him was filled with laughter and fun. Fabian and Gideon made also sure that he learned something new every day after they found out that Harry was curious about every little thing that he saw. They also made sure to keep as few secrets from Harry as possible. They knew that in his last life, he had hated everyone talking about him and keeping secrets from him when they were always about him.

And as happy as the twins were to give Harry that life they knew that they could not hide them in their home forever. They had to show him the world outside of the walls of their home. Especially as Harry was increasingly asking why he could not leave with one of them when one of them was going out.

They started to tell Harry who he really was shortly before his eighth birthday. They told him about James and Lily Potter and how they died. They told him about the Dursleys and that they took him from there to give him a better life.
He asked them many questions and they answered what they could. But as he asked them how they could have known that he would not have had a good life with the Dursleys they paused.
How could they answer that? They could not tell their seven-year-old charge about what they did. That they traveled in time to stop a war and stop many people from dying. No matter what role Harry had played in their last life during the war, he was now a child and they would do everything they could to keep him one for as long as possible.
So they told him that they knew he would be in danger because he was family to them, even if not by blood. And the smart seven-year-old that Harry was did know not to ask more. He knew that if they could give him a better answer, they would have told him like they always did.
