It was a warm, summer weekend. Students were running off to Hogsmeade, relaxing outside, or studying in the library.
Mike however, was nowhere to be found.
Neville had been looking for him. But ever since breakfast had passed, he couldn’t find Mike anywhere. He had asked everyone, even Silene didn’t know where he was.
Because Mike had sneaked off to the nearby lake. There were never any students there, mainly because of the rumors about the giant squid living there. So Mike had taken his chance to have a quiet place to relax. He often took his guitar with him to just jam and relax for a while.
Which was what he was doing now. He sat down on the edge where the soft grass met the sand, as to not get sand on his guitar. Strumming a soft tune he had learned a while back. Not really thinking of any consequences it might have, he started to sing.
The lyrics rolled off of his tongue like he had written the song himself many years ago.
Neville had decided to go for a walk around the castle. Thinking of all the places Mike might be, like he’d list something and was remembering where he’d last left it. Then he heard something.
A soft melody, and a smooth voice singing along, Neville smiled as he heard it, he had found what he had lost. Blindly, Neville followed the sound of the tune, eventually stopping behind a tree to look for where his boyfriend was. Scanning the area when his eyes stopped and rested on his back. Neville smiled as he walked towards the other boy.
“Would you look at that…” Neville said with a wide grin before sitting down next to the other, leaving Mike a tad bit startled. “Nev! Hi!” He said excitedly, quickly getting over the slight scare his boyfriend had just delivered him.
“Hey, Mike.” Nev said as he placed his hand on the back of the others head to support it, as he kissed his forehead. “What have you been up to?” Mike chuckled. “Nothing much, I’ve just been playing some stuff. Practice.” He answered.
“Well..” Said Neville, “Can I hear?” He followed. Mike got a little flustered. “Uhh- Um.. Sure! Yeah, alright.” He said as he started to play the song. “Mike.” Neville said after a while. “Could you also… sing the part?” Mike stopped playing abruptly. “Huh? Y-You want me to… sing?” He asked, even more flustered. “But I sound like an old crow! I wouldn’t want to make your ears bleed.” He laughed at his joke. Neville, however, was unphased. “Well, what I heard when I was looking for you sure didn’t sound like a crow to me. Come on!! I love your singing.” He pleaded, which finally broke Mike. “Alright, but only because its you. “That’s my boy!!” Neville said with another big grin.
Mike took a breath as he played the song again, but this time, he sang.
Neville sat in awe at his boyfriend for the next 3 minutes. “That was great!!!” Neville gleamed. Mike blushed as he looked at his boyfriend. Mike didn’t know how long the honeymoon phase lasted, but it sure did last long.
Mike sat silently, in awe of his boyfriend. The way the light hit Neville, the way the soft breeze wept through his hair, the way his laugh sounded in his ears, everything was so perfect. Mike felt a smile form on his face as he out his guitar down, cupping Neville’s face. “I love you so much Nev..” He said, basically glowing as Neville rose a playful brow. “What’s this all about, hm?” He asked, as Mike got closer to him. “You know what this is about, idiot.” He said before closing the gap between them as he kissed him. Neville placed his hands on the others waist as Mike sat on top of him. When Neville broke the kiss for air, he could barely mumble an ‘I love you too’ before Mike took this chance to push Neville to the ground and lay on top of him, connecting their lips once more as they shared another kiss.
