"Listen James's it'll be fun."
"No I believe you mate, but we can't do it a day before the wedding, you're going to whis we hadn't done it when the music starts playing in the venue."
"James this is besides the point, you need a stag party" Sirius was almost whining at this point and James was having none of that.
"Is that what they're actually called? A stag party." Peter was sitting on the floor of the living room folding the place card's, Sirius had thrown himself on the sofa so that his head was resting on Remus's lap, who was reading some old book from James's bookshelf.
"Yeah, that's what it's actually called, ironic isn't it." James was pacing the living room floor, trying to figure out how he was ever going to shut Sirus up and get it through to him they can't do anything like that night before the wedding.
"If we limit the drinking, how about then Prongs?"
"Sirius we both know you can't limit your drinking for shit." James had now stopped into the middle of the room, and stood there for a minute before he threw his hands in the air in defeat,
"but okay fine, we'll do it."
"YES!" Sirius basically flew off the sofa and went up to hug James, before running to the door, "I'll go get the drinks. Moony see you later, everyone else see you tomorrow!" and with that he was out the door, James looked at Remus helplessly, but Remus just shrugged at him proceeding to then get up very slowly, shaking his leg as if to get the pain shaken out of it, and then he left as well.
2.00 pm, 24 hours until the wedding:
Peter and James were sat in the kitchen when Sirius and Remus arrived, Sirius was carrying so much alcohol with him that James almost had a heart attack when he burst through the door nearly dropping some bottles.
"Padfoot, that is way too much!" James had stood up and offered to take some of the bottles and bag's from him.
"I tried to tell him." Remus was walking behind Sirius with a bag on one hand and a cane on the other. He placed the bag on the table and proceeded to lean on his cane.
"Can you even walk, should we just leave the partying to tomorrow evening?"
"But that defeats the whole purpose of a stag party, also are you actually okay Moony?"
"Oh, I'm fine." Isn't actually all that fine.
"This will end terribly..." was all Peter said.
5.08 pm, 21 hours until the wedding:
The first drinks had been opened, and they had begun playing a drinking game, Never have I ever to be specific, Sirius was feeling quite giggly, Remus was calm and didn't seem to be affected at all yet, Peter had gathered a small redness to his face, and James seemed worried for the course of the night, they had sworn to go to sleep early.
And if they were too loud they would end up with a very angry groom for the next day.
1.00 am, 13 hours until the wedding:
Somewhere between 10 and 11 pm they had left the house all together, All of them were completely drunk, Sirius kept changing back and forth between his dog form and human form. Remus had seem to have forgotten the pain on his leg and was walking behind them, still slowly, Peter was on Remus's shoulder as his rat form, he got quite tired when he drank, and James was messing around with Sirius.
They visited the near by town, and just wondered around for a while, at the end of it all none of them could actually remember any of this of course....
8.26 am, 6 hours until the wedding:
Sirius woke up from the sofa on top of Remus, who was already wide awake, Peter was still in his rat form sleeping on the end table.
"Hi, Moony, does your head hurt as bad as mine?"
"Don't think so mate. Now get up I can't feel my other leg." Sirius got up quickly and was now rather unsteadily standing in the middle of the living room,
"Gross Padfoot you drooled on my shirt."
Remus was looking down at his shirt and then walked towards the kitchen to clean the drool off, Sirius was too tired to care and just threw himself on the sofa. He had time to lay there for around 30 seconds before hearing Remus yell from the kitchen, this awoke Peter too who jumped off the table and transformed back to human.
"Umm... Guy's!"
"what's up?" Sirius had dragged himself off the sofa to the kitchen, where in the middle of the room was standing a stag.
"Hey James!"
"That's not James."
Sirius looked at Remus and then back at the stag.
"It's not?"
"Nope." Peter was now standing in the doorway,
"where's James then?"
Sirius was beginning to panic, but Remus tried to keep him calm,
"Okay we just woke up, there's a random stag in the kitchen, no James in immediate sight, we'll just look around, he'll be here somewhere."
So they looked, they walked around all of the downstairs and even little upstairs, but they didn't want to disturb Regulus who was still sleeping in one of the main bedrooms. When they still couldn't find James they began panicking.
9.30 am, 5 hours until the wedding:
Lily, Marlene, and Mary arrived at 9.30 to put the place in order, Sirius was now in full panic, Remus and Peter had gotten the random stag out of the kitchen to the back yard, and were now in the kitchen looking at Sirius pacing back and forth,
"We need to fucking find him, Reggie is going to kill us."
Remus's leg was clearly bothering him again, and he was leaning on the counter top, not putting weight on the leg, Sirius had noticed this, but had no time to think about it too much.
"he'll come around eventually."
Lily walked into the room that moment carrying a box of decorations,
"who'll come around?"
"James." Peter noticed his mistake immediately and let out a small sound of regret, Sirius's eyes shot up to look at him and Remus let out a breath before pinching between his eyes like he was getting a headache.
"What will James have to come around to? Is he having regrets about getting married?"
Lily's voice was sarcastic, and she let out a small laugh this was followed by silence and she looked up at the three.
"Is he having regrets?"
She looked quite worried so Remus stepped in,
"He isn't having regrets... we have however lost him..."
Lily didn't get to register what Remus had said completely before she let out a relieved sigh,
"Oh good, I was already worried that there would be no wed - wait... You what now?"
"we lost him."
"you lost him, you lost James the day before his wedding! What do you mean?"
Now Sirius had stopped pacing and was standing in the middle of the kitchen looking stressed,
"We held him a stag party last night, and it appears we lost him somewhere along the night."
Lily was turning red with anger, she looked like she might loose it,
"You absolute impecils! Does Regulus know?"
"No!" all three said this at the same time.
"We didn't want to wake him." Peter squeaked from one of the kitchen chairs.
"Good, no one is going to tell him, we are going to find James before he even realises James is gone."
All three nodded and Lily called Mary and Marlene to the kitchen as well, she told them the situation, and then they shared areas for each to look through. Remus stayed at the house to look in every corner and to make sure if Regulus woke up he wouldn't find out, Sirius went to look in the woods near the house and the general outside area, Peter and Mary left to go look in town, and Lily and Marlene checked all the in between areas.
In an hour they had all gone through the entire area of the house and the nearby town, and no James in sight, they had begun to truly worry now.
11.00 am, 3 hours until the wedding:
"We have to wake Regulus up, the wedding is in three hours."
"Well Lily if we don't find James there won't be any wedding!"
Sirius was truly loosing it, Lily was almost just as worried.
"Well then let's just wake Regulus up and tell him the situation, he'll help us."
"He'll kill us is what he'll do."
They sat in the silence for a while, before Remus stood up,
"I'm going to wake Regulus, he can't sleep all day anyway." Sirius was about to protest, but there would be no point, Regulus would wake up eventually.
Remus walked up the steps rather slowly, and walked to the door of the bedroom Regulus slept in, he knocked on the door and heard a voice muffled by the door,
" Yes!"
"Good you're up already, I think Marlene is going to be up in a bit to help you get ready so..."
"Thanks Lupin!" and with that Remus went back down,
"He's already up."
"Good, I'm going in there in a bit and I don't care if he half naked I'm not waiting around." Marlene took her job as the planner and helper of both groom's very seriously, she was not joking around.
"And you five, find him!"
With that she left to go get Regulus's suit from the terrace where it had been drying since yesterday.
Around 5 minutes later:
Regulus walked down the stairs, he looked slightly more tired than usual, he walked into the kitchen and groaned with the disappointment of there being no coffee for him to drink, so he started making coffee. Remus entered the kitchen and came to an immediate halt when he saw Regulus,
"Hi." Regulus turned around at the sound of Remus's voice, "Hey."
They stood in the silence for a long minute, until Remus broke it while settling down to sit.
"So, you exited to get married?"
Regulus turned back to making the coffee and smiled,
"Yeah, I guess I am."
While he waited on the coffee to be redy he hopped to sit on the counter top, he looked happy, he felt happy, and Remus felt bad for possibly having to ruin that for him, but before he could say anything Sirius and the others burst through the kitchen door.
At first they didn't notice Regulus witch then lead to Sirius leading with
"Can't find him anywhere! We're doomed, Regulus is going to -" He stopped in his tracks as soon as he saw Regulus sitting on the counter, Regulus raised an eyebrow and lowered himself down from the counter,
"I'm going to do what?"
Sirius looked terrified, he seemed to be at a loss for words, and he slowly backed down and sat on a chair.
"Kill us. Regulus we lost James, I swear we've been looking for him since 9 this morning, and we didn't mean to, he just disappeared and we can't find him, and we didn't want to worry you, and I - Reggie I'm sorry." Regulus looked extremely confused and a little amused at his brother worry, he started walking out of the kitchen without a single word, when he realised they didn't get the hint he came back,
"You coming?"
Now Sirius was confused, and looked over at Remus and the others, they got up and followed. Regulus walked them up the stairs and to his room door, he opened the door and to everyone's surprise there on his bed lay sleeping James. He looked very peacefully, under all the blankets.
Regulus walked over to the bed and laid himself across the bed to place a kiss on James's cheek,
"James the others have been looking for you all morning."
James stirred on the bed and then opened his eyes slowly to look at Regulus,
"Oh really?"
He looked over at his friends in the doorway, and gave them a smile.
"anyone else have a headache?"
Sirius gave a small nod and then burst out laughing, everyone else joind in, and they all laughed for a long while, then Regulus explained that around four am James had come into his room saying he missed him and got in to sleep next to Regulus.
12.30 pm, 1 hour 30 minutes until the wedding:
Both grooms were now dressed, and ready, James didn't want to see Regulus in his suit before the ceremony, witch Regulus thought was ridiculous, but he went along with it for James' sake. They stayed in their own rooms, until they would leave for the ceremony with Lily and Marlene.
Sirius had forced Remus to take medication for his leg that was now really bothering him, and as an addition Remus had lost his cane somewhere during the night, Sirius ran around for nearly 20 minutes looking for the cane, until he just gave up and offered for Remus to just lean on him when walking, so he did.
All and all the wedding was beautiful, Regulus looked as though he might cry, but he would never admit that, James did cry, so did Sirius.
Lily looked overjoyed and proud, the after party was fun and this time they did not drink too much, mainly because Regulus kept James at bay and well Sirius didn't want to be the only one drunk.
