How it starts
Harry groaned as he was pushed onto the ground. Forcing himself on his hands, he glanced back at his uncle, wondering what he could have done this time.
His uncle lifted his hand, making harry flinch back. "Boy!" Vernon barked out. Harry scrambled to his feet, backing away from him. "What is it no-" he was cut off as a fist came down onto his cheek.
He cried out as he fell back to the ground, hitting his head on the floor.
"Get to your room, boy. I don't want to see you walking around this house!" Vernon yelled. He lifted his foot, slamming it into his ribs. Harry screamed out in pain, curling into a ball and crying. "Please, stop!" he cried out.
He closed his eyes, curling up tighter. "That's it, you ungrateful brat!" was yelled out. Harry started screaming again as his arm was pulled; he was being dragged up the stairs. "Stop!" he struggled to remove the hold his uncle had on him, pulling harder when they got close to his room.
White was all harry saw as he was tossed into his room. He struggled to keep his eyes open, succumbing to the pain and passing out.
The last thing he saw was the door being banged open and a dark figure.
—---------------------------------------------------------------------
Snape knocked on the headmaster's door, glaring ahead. "Come in" With that, he pushed the door open, gliding into the room to stand in front of the desk.
"What is it that you had to drag me away from my potions" Severus hissed out, gritting his teeth. "Lemon drop, my boy" Dumbledore showed him the bowl.
He growled, "No, tell me what you called me for." Dumbledore's eyes twinkled as he looked at him. 'Crazy fool,' Severus thought, glaring at the headmaster.
At this, the headmaster sighed, grabbing some device from his desk and holding it out. It looked like a snitch without winds and was glowing red.
"This here is connected to the blood wards around Harry Potter's house. It started glowing red earlier, which means he's somehow hurt." The twinkle was still in his eyes. Severus just glared harder "who cares if the boys scaped his knee! I have to finish making the potions for the infirmary." He turned, walking towards the door.
"Now, now, Severus. I need you to go and check on the boy." He closed his eyes, hating this old fool. "Send someone else," turning to the headmaster and shaking his head.
Dumbledore just smiled, "come on, my boy. What would Lily think." Then, grinding his teeth, seething on the inside, Snape whipped towards the door, "fine."
'This is pointless!' He thought, stomping down the stairs. 'I'm going to get there, and the potter brat will be fine.'
He quickly walked to the main doors, down the Hogwarts grounds, and past the apparating point. 'Maybe ill kill the boy myself if he's fine,' he thought before Apparating away.
Once he arrived, he scowled at all the similar houses, walking up to number 4. He started going faster at the sound of a scream. Then, throwing a fast Alohomora at the door, he pushed his way in.
"Petunia, where is Potter" he stared at where the horse-like woman was sitting on the couch. Her face scrunched up, glaring at him. "Why are you here, you filthy freak!" she yelled, ignoring his question.
Severus pulled out his wand, pointing it at her. "Tell me where the boy is." Then, hearing another scream from upstairs, he shot a stupefy at her.
Running up the stairs, he went to a door with all kinds of locks; pushing it open, he saw Harry's head hit the ground with a loud bang. The boy was covered in bruises and blood.
He glared at the man in the room, "Dursley, what did you do." The fat man grinned down at the collapsed boy "he deserved it, the little freak." Snape Stupefied him.
After Vernon's body hit the ground, he ran up to the boy, running a diagnostic spell. 'How can he have this many injuries' Severus pulled out his potion bag, getting Harry to swallow down a blood-Replenishing Potion, a pain relief potion, and a dreamless sleep potion.
After making sure Potter wouldn't die, he went up to Vernon, "Legilimens." Pulling back from all the memories, he gasped. 'The Potter boy is severely abused.' Glancing around the room, he noticed the slightly pulled-up floorboard. He walked over and pulled it the rest of the way up. "Smart, Potter," he mumbled out loud.
He grabbed the Photo album, cloak, wand, and the boy's few books, shrinking them and putting them in his pocket. He didn't know how the boy lived here in this state; someone should have been checking on him. "Dumbledore," he growled.
The old fool said that Potter was living like a king, that he was checking on him. Severus should have seen the obvious signs of abuse. The boy was smaller than the other first years when he came in and wore huge ratty clothes.
The headmaster couldn't be trusted with this. Knowing him, he'd want to send him back here. 'Maybe I should take him for Lily.'
With that in mind, he walked over to Potter and picked him up. He was holding him with one arm, with the boy's head buried under his neck.
He looked at Vernon, "obliviate," diving into his mind, he fabricated a memory of a man wearing a deatheater cloak and mask breaking in and stealing Potter. Once done, he walked down the stairs, doing the same to Petunia.
After he made sure he wouldn't be found out, Snape made his way toward the cupboard he saw in Vernon's memories. He opened the door, gasping at what he saw. There was a mattress covered in blood stains and dirt, walls covered in children's drawings, and one that read out "Harry's room."
He put his hand on the back of Potter's head, petting him. "I'm sorry, Lily, I've failed you." He grabbed Harry's trunk and rushed out of the house before Apparating to Spinner's end.
