Lancelot Weasley, The Third of The Terrible Three (Harry Potter)
They were degnoming the garden when it was finally addressed.
A six year old Fred looked him straight in the eyes and suddenly laid it out.
"You weren't always Lancelot, were you?"
George started sputtering and hitting his arm "Fred you idiot! I thought you said you had a controlled way of explaining it! You're going to scare him off-"
"Am not! Lance loooveeess us! We could never scare him off, he's the third twin!"
"Fred I told you we're triplets now! The term is not 'third twin'-"
"I don't care - it sounds funnier George!-"
"No it doesn't!-"
Lance cleared his throat. "Um - explanations, please?"
The way their heads swerved their heads around was absolutely comical.
"Well brother dear-" (f)
"-What my entirely less flattering other half was trying to convey was-" (g)
"-We're time-travelers-" (f)
"-And one Lancelot Weasley certainly was not in existence before we went back in time." (g)
"So obviously, we made the logical connection that you also are older then your current form limits you to seem to be-" (f)
"Fred! Just say he's also a regressor! It's easier language!" (g)
"-Right, also a regressor - so were we right or were we right?" (f)
Lance sighed. "....Uhm, yeah. This doesn't..change anything between us though right?" Lance fiddled with his hands nervously.
"Why of course not! You're the third of the terror twins! The terrible three! Granted we need to wait a few years before we get the nickname up and running again-" (f)
"-What Fred meant was you're our brother Lance - being older than expected doesn't really change anything. You're still family." (g)
- Fred and George go back in time (lets say that, for some reason, the voldemort thing derailed from canon. sort of like those mha aus where the war just never ended type thing) ;; there comes the sudden and amazing idea to travel through time using. I don't know, time turners as the base. and they do that, because messing with the laws of time is a great bonding activity for the family.
Lancelot has a few different backstories.
- In one they're a muggleborn that was killed in voldemorts original rein of terror, and through magic bullshit I probably would've had to make an actual explanation for later on, gets reincarnated as a weasley.
- In another they're a person also from the bad-war future fred and george came from, probably some random extra from the original series like seamus finnigan or michael corner or something, that found the notes for the spell even later on in the bad future where it got worse and tried it for themselves, botching it (because it's specified like. weasley or something like that) and ending up as the third not real weasley twin.
- And in one of the least fleshed out ones, they were originally a squib that through rather violent means died ; making their magic lash out and transmigrate them across universes. this one is likely not the explanation I would've gone with, because it's not as thought out - because how does this work? does this happen to many squibs? if not, why did it happen to them? I probably would've thought about it a lot more if I ended up choosing this.
Planned on having the twins teach Lance how to do the sync up vaguely telepathic thing they do. by hogwarts almost no one can tell them apart. lee jordan still becomes the honorary third twin, except this time he's the honorary fourth one. or is it fourth triplet? one of those.
that being said the differences between lance fred and goerge by hogwarts would have been something like
- fred still leads discussions, george still reels him in - but lance is the one to change the direction of the conversation. sort of like - Fred: (proposed solution to a problem, cuts off) George: (finishes sentence from the cut off, reels in the solution to be more safe) Lance: (Adds an entire other sentence, and suggests an alternate solution as well) They still do the 'sounding like the same person talking through different people' thing - and if they had another twin - sorry, quadruplet, lance would break off his sentences and let them finish it too. until then though, he gets entire ones.
unlike fred or george, lance wouldn't be all that into the pranking thing - they like confusing people sure, but not enough to start a joke shop. that being said they do still join up with fred and george on that - though the creation process here is more [Fred: Suggests ideas for products, does testing] [George: Decides on if the product is makeable, makes it if it is and changes the design if not] [Lancelot: In charge of the actual branding and business part of the joke shop.]
basically lance manages the finances, fred suggests ideas on what to do with them, george decides if it's possible ; if it's product related he does it, if it's brand related he hands it over to lancelot, and lance is the one to actually make it happen if it's part of the brand. there's nuance and stuff, but that's generally the chain of command here
