And that's how you make your brother jealous.
It was Monday when Remus had a break between his lectures and decided to go to library. Most students weren't fond of too long breaks between their classes, because they would have rather taken the courses they had to and go home. For Remus, it was different, since he could go to the library, do his homework, study from the notes he just took and revise what he'd learnt from last week about the course he would have in two hours. So, in conclusion, Remus liked to have an unbalanced schedule and it kind of reminded him of how he himself could go into an unstable lifestyle.
So he went to the library, took his usual spot and not even fifteen minutes passed, when a shadow covered his notes and books, that were scattered across the table. Remus lifted his head to see a familiar face with grey eyes and the darkest shade of black on hair he had ever seen.
"Now, that I think of it, you never said your name, though you know mine," Remus said to Sirius' brother. He actually hoped the name would come up during their Friday's conversation in the Three Broomsticks, so he was disappointed. Because he didn't gain any advantage, or didn't even equalize Sirius' brother's upper hand.
"Regulus," the boy said, and sat down, next to Remus. He casually started to unpack books next to Remus', but even if Remus minded, he couldn't tell him anything, since the library was a public property. And Remus didn't know if it would disturb him, yet, so it was all right.
"Is it some kind of tradition to name children after stars in your family?" he asked. Because unexpectedly after Friday's get-together, Remus became interested in astronomy and, of course, first he googled 'Sirius', but the next day he just read about all kind of stars and constellations. He was actually fascinated by it. And he found out, that though it is Sirius that is the brightest star in the night sky, Regulus is the brightest one in the constellation Leo. Quite bright, must be their family. But then he thought about James. James was a pretty ordinary name, and he was Sirius' brother from what he gathered, though…
He thought about the way James and Sirius were completely different in a physical way, and how similar to each other are Sirius and Regulus.
"Yes," Regulus sighed and then looked at Remus. "I'm surprised you know names of stars."
"Let's say I had an intense weekend meeting with the night sky," shrugged Remus. And after he wondered, ask or not to ask, he eventually decided that Regulus could tell him off. "But James is not named after star. Is he…?"
Regulus had a blank face, but Remus thought it was Regulus' pondering face. "He is not my brother, but he is Sirius'," he said finally. "For more, you can ask Sirius."
"Sure," Remus looked at his notes. And then he remembered, that Regulus knew his name. "And from who you knew my name? Sirius?"
Regulus laughed. "It was James, actually. He kind of keeps me informed about Sirius' life. I haven't asked him for this. So this way, I suspect, he informs Sirius about things I tell him. Smart-arse, he is."
Remus saw a kind of fondness in the way Regulus was talking about James, but he didn't ask more. Maybe there was something between them. James was definitely interested in Lily though, so it must have been some time ago, or it was one-sided. Or maybe he just treated James as his second brother, same as Sirius. A person didn't have to feel romantic love for someone to be fond of them.
"Nice to be the topic of your chats," Remus muttered with sarcasm.
"Oh, you are," Regulus smirked. "But I knew you earlier. Not really met you, but anyone visiting this library more than once a lifetime can spot you. You are a regular here, and other regulars know it, too."
"So you are regular?" Remus asked and looked at Regulus. "I must admit, I didn't even know you are studying at the same university as me."
"Well, that's probably because when I come here, you are already utterly focused on your books."
Remus wanted to ask why Regulus approached him, as it sounded unlikely he just had the opportunity to chat him up. He didn't ask, though, because he didn’t want to make an impression, he wanted Regulus to leave. So Remus just started to focus on his notes again, and Regulus soon did the same.
It was after around half an hour when Regulus' phone started to aggressively vibrate. Regulus tsk-tsked, but took his phone anyway and started messaging someone. Or maybe just wrote something intensely, either way, Regulus' fingers quickly fleeted on the screen.
When Remus glanced at Regulus, he had a smirk on his face. Regulus peeked at Remus. "It's Sirius. Do you want to say hi?" he asked, and Remus shrugged. He couldn't get off the impression that the boy next to him started to seem self-satisfied suddenly.
"You know I see how are you all smug?" Remus asked, and Regulus snorted. "Are you sitting with me, because what? You want to piss off Sirius?"
And Regulus finally looked at Remus caught off guard. It was actually shot in the dark, but Remus thought it was worth the risk. Because why else suddenly Regulus approached him, when, as he said, Remus was commonly known as a library regular. And then there was a sudden spam messages from Sirius, even though, these brothers didn't seem to talk a lot. Because why else James would keep Regulus informed about Sirius' life? And saying 'hi' to Sirius also sounded suspicious, so Remus came to the conclusion that it was Regulus' goal all alone, to be 'caught' with Remus. Why? That was another question. Though it was true, that Remus couldn't meet with Sirius all he wanted, and Regulus might have known about it and take advantage of it. He told Remus at their first meeting that they have rather love-hate relationship going on between them, so it would be logical, Regulus wanted to annoy his brother. And maybe Sirius really could be jealous that Regulus spent time with Remus, when Sirius couldn't. Maybe not jealous of Remus, just jealous in general, that his brother managed to do something, he couldn't.
"So you know that, meeting with you, will piss Sirius off?" Regulus asked satisfied.
"I thought there was a possibility," Remus answered laconically.
"Then, of course, I wanted to piss off Sirius. What do you think of me?" Regulus sent the last message, before he placed his phone on the table. There were a few vibrations, but Regulus didn't seem to care about what Sirius told him. "Then, yes. It was my goal, and I must admit it turned out to be a success. It's also beneficial, I don't dislike you. We should meet with Evan and Barty, too. I believe you would get along well."
Remus sniggered. "And annoy Sirius more?"
"Well, he certainly will be jealous you are spending time with my friends, not his."
"You say I'm an object of envy, then."
"Obviously."
Remus had a moment of hesitation, before he asked the next question. Because it meant he got ahead of himself. But it kind of made sense, so he decided, another shot wouldn't hurt. "You know, I saw how Dorcas got a message on Friday, not too long after you and I met. And after this mysterious message, she started to observe me and Sirius, you know something about it? I must add, she smirked at one point and said 'Remus is quite Regulus' type, isn't he?' and she seemed really smug about it. The message wasn't from you, was it?"
Regulus looked astonished. "You are pretty observant when you don't have nose in your books, aren't you?"
"I suppose," Remus answered and smiled.
Regulus was focusing on Remus for a few beats, and then he smiled, too.
"You know, I really like you. It's good to talk with someone, who is straightforward sometimes."
"Sometimes, huh?" questioned Remus. "I guess too much is never too good?"
"Depends," Regulus said and then slowly, really slowly a smile turned on his face. "But you're also quite confident, from what I see…? Since you guessed it was me who messaged Dorcas? You must have thought then that you, being linked with me, would somehow irk Sirius. That it was my plan to make him jealous. Suggesting you are my type."
"It was more about how you didn't take any particular interest in me, when we met. So why would you want Dorcas to comment on us, like that? I thought about it, and came to the conclusion you believed it will make Sirius rankled somehow." Though from his new knowledge, Remus could think it might have been James, who Regulus wanted to make jealous. Though at the same time, it really didn't seem like it, and he decided it was too early to provoke Regulus.
"But you must have believed I think Sirius liked you," Regulus continued.
"Yes, but it is what I guessed you think, not what I believe," Remus countered.
Regulus watched him attentively, before he leaned back in the chair.
"Truth. But there is more. Dorcas specifically told me, how attentive you were to Sirius, this Friday night, so you can't say, it's all about me, can you? For reasons, I still have difficulties to understand, you like him. Or at least find him attractive."
"Well, he is beautiful," Remus admitted casually. He was far from denying finding Sirius attractive. And seeing how Regulus tried to provoke him, all the time, straightforward responses were the best option, Remus had. He could have guessed Dorcas would notice Remus' interest in Sirius and he kind of regretted, he didn't think of it. It was too late, though, and nothing really happened, so Remus just shrugged mentally and was honest with Regulus. Finding someone attractive didn't have to mean something. He could appreciate physically a lot of people.
He wasn’t allured by Regulus, though. Despite his similarity to Sirius.
Regulus sighed. "It's a blessing and a curse of our family, really." And next, he looked at the hour. "I must go, so you can peacefully study, I won't disturb you today."
"Today?" Remus teased.
"Too much is never too good, remember?" Regulus smiled, stood up, and then handed his phone to Remus. "Can you save your number? I will contact you, so we can meet, and I will introduce you to Evan and Barty. Or you can drop by JSMD one day during late afternoon or evening hours. I will provide more details later." Regulus packed his books and looked at Remus. "Goodbye, then."
"See you, I guess," Remus answered and watched Regulus go. He sighed, because these brothers really liked to make appearances in someone's life. And Remus believed they will not leave too soon. And he didn't really mind, so he just went back to his books and tried to focus. Too much of thinking about a black-hared boy with the greyest grey eyes was never too good. Especially when Remus started to wonder if Sirius thought about his green eyes, too.
***
It was funny, really, how Regulus planned to message Remus. He messaged him the next day, and then the day after, and two days later. It was mostly short, though, once they got into a kind of messaging streak. It was Barty who commented on it then, in his typical annoying way.
"Who are you chatting with, with that smile on your face."
But it was actually favourable in Regulus' case. So he answered truthfully. "With Remus."
And it was great, actually, because Regulus made sure that there was always Barty or Evan, when he was messaging Remus, and of course, people around, so he could comment on something Remus said. And people heard it. And people gossiped about it. One way or another, gossip would reach Sirius, that his little brother was unexpectedly chatting a lot with a boy named Remus, and he was doing this daily, and he was even smiling at his phone. So when around five days had passed, Regulus wasn't surprised to see Sirius barging in, to his office. Actually he didn't predict it would take that much time, he suspected this barging in, much earlier.
"Tell me about your scheme." Sirius said, the first thing he entered the room.
"I don't scheme," answered Regulus, not paying attention to his brother.
"Are you sure? Because there is a lot of talking about you and your new boyfriend," he added, and was shifting from one leg to the other. "And the boy is strangely named Remus."
"Oh?" Regulus looked at his brother, feigning surprise. Which he knew he did perfectly, but Sirius knew him better than that. "It's probably because we chat a lot, you have nothing to worry about." He waved his hand, and focused back on the papers he had on his desk. "Why are you here, actually? Do you want something?"
Sirius glared at him. "From when do we have similar taste in boys, little brother, huh?"
"I suppose, we always have had," Regulus shrugged. And it was actually true, though not the way he implied to Sirius. Because, yes, they both were in a relationship with James, but Sirius in a friendly one, and Regulus in a romantic one. So they both liked the same boy, but in different ways. And Sirius was too occupied with his feelings and jealousy to see that, the case was repeated. They, again, liked the same boy, though in different ways. Regulus looked at his brother in time to see Sirius was going to argue.
"No way," Sirius wasn't going to stop glaring, unfortunately.
"The way."
"I will take your phone."
"It's sweet that you know, you won't, and you even can't, but you say it either way."
"I will tell mother."
"I don't have… Wait, what?" Regulus saw Sirius' lips quirk and raised his eyebrows. "You want to tell on me? What are you actually implying?"
Sirius laughed. "Just always wanted to say that."
And Regulus sighed, exasperated, but in a kind of fond way, because Sirius was such a kid, sometimes. It was true, though, that he had never had a chance to complain to their parents, or to call something unjust. And Sirius was more focused on defending his little brother, than attacking him. They hardly had any childhood, where Sirius could make any accusations. Nor could Regulus.
"No matter what you decide on saying, I won't tell you, so you can go and bother someone else. Or just go home, I don't care."
And suddenly, Sirius was next to Regulus, taking his hands in his own, and looking at Regulus straight into the eyes. Though Regulus knew his brother rather well, he was taken aback, until he understood that Sirius decided to change his tactics. Regulus could only wait, and see how the situation would carry on.
"Spare your older brother, tell him, please. If there is some love for your brother left, in this little, black heart of yours, please, show it. Show mercy." Sirius was squeezing his hands, Regulus tried to look unbothered, even if it amused him.
"All right," he said then. If Sirius wanted to play a different game, then Regulus would, too.
"All right?" Sirius asked, dumbfounded. Regulus understood his reaction, because they could go on, and on, and on, until they reached the agreement. He didn't know, though, if they would reach one, on this case.
"Yes, I will tell you," Regulus rolled his eyes. "It was a plan to piss you off," he admitted and almost smiled, when Sirius sighed in relief. "But then, I actually liked Remus, so you can sod off, he is my friend, now."
Sirius stood up instantly, glaring at Regulus.
"You're not friends with Remus."
"I suppose I am, even more than you, actually. I mean, I don't see you meeting with him, or even talking with him." Sirius blushed and Regulus burst out laughing. "Sirius, you're so done for."
"We'll see," said Sirius and left. Regulus watched him walking away, smug.
Someone had to kick his brother in the butt. How long Remus had to wait, for Sirius, right?
And when he got a message from Remus saying, 'what have you done to Sirius?', Regulus knew it worked.
***
"I was coming back from work and there were some muffins leftovers, so I guessed I could come and give them to you." Remus said, when he approached Pandora in the lobby. Her whole face lightened up, and she hugged him, what Remus had no time to reciprocate, because she was already drawing back. He was also a bit surprised with this welcoming greeting, but he returned the feeling, it was always a good thing to see Pandora and take some of her calmness.
"How thoughtful of you! Thank you. I'm finishing my work for today, but I will take one." She took one muffin, the only one with icing and smiled at Remus, then waved at someone who was behind him and she left the building.
Remus was watching her in amusement, and he looked behind himself at the same time, James was trying to get in front of him. They bumped into each other and laughed.
"Remus! Oy, soon you will be a more frequent guest than Lily. And she is working here unlike you. Or maybe you changed your mind?" James asked, and Remus shook his head with a smile.
"No, you're on the way, though, from my work. And it seems I don't really have many people to give the muffins to. Trying to promote the café I work for, that great worker I am," he said and lifted the box with the sweets. James beamed at him.
"Oh, Remus, the love of my life. The second one. Or maybe the third one. Never mind." James grabbed the vanilla muffin and took a bite. He made some kind of noise of pleasure and, still with a full mouth, he said, "I've heard you started chilling with Regulus, though?"
Remus rolled his eyes. "He is such a gossip girl." And maybe it wasn't exactly true. Regulus told him that James passed him most things that were going on in Sirius' life, and he suspected then, that whatever he said to James, found it way back to Sirius. James kept both brothers informed on the other sibling's life. So that meant, whatever Regulus told James, wasn't a gossip, it was specifically to be told to Sirius. Not that Remus really cared, it was between Regulus and Sirius. "But I've started talking with Sirius more, too, you know. He suddenly decided to chat with me on the phone few days ago, and it was going on from then. I guess I'm messaging with both brothers. I wonder when we, James, will start to be phone buddies," Remus joked and James laughed, because, well, it was James. "Is Sirius here, actually? I would go and give him a muffin."
"He finished some time ago, but he has a habit of circulating around and talking to people and asking how are they. He should be leaving any time, now."
Once James said it, Remus saw a familiar silhouette emerging from one of the corridors. Remus smiled seeing how Sirius was moving, with his fast pace, not really focused on his surroundings, just going straight forward, but smiling at people around almost absent-mindedly. "Speak of the devil," Remus said and looked at James, who didn't turn around to see Sirius. He was observing Remus, with a strange expression on his face. But then smiled, like nothing happened, like Remus was only imagining James' a bit of tilted head, curious eyes and slightly lifted eyebrows. James turned and waved to Sirius, which he didn't see.
"Pads!" he shouted, and Sirius then saw them and smiled widely.
In a few seconds he walked over to them and gasped seeing James' muffin.
"Hello Remus," he said in the 'by the way' way, and he stretched out his hands to take the muffin James was eating. James patted his fingers.
"Have your own!" he tsk-tsked.
"Oh?" Sirius asked, and Remus once again lifted the box. Sirius instantly went for the box and, with head leaned above it, he was inspecting flavours.
"This one is the one you said you wanted to try," Remus said, showing Sirius a Coffee Toffee flavour. Sirius looked up at him with a smile that made Remus blush, so while Sirius was taking his muffin out, Remus focused on James. It wasn't such a great idea, though, because James, once again, had this weird facial expression.
"I can't believe you remembered," spoke Sirius, watching his muffin fondly, before he bit it. "I don't think I even said I want it, I just…"
"You were pretty enthusiastic about this flavour and said you never tried it," Remus smiled. They were talking about how they once exchanged messages on the phone and Remus commented on a few flavours. Sirius truthfully hadn't said he wanted this one, but his reaction spoke for itself. "We were chatting about muffins, once," Remus explained the situation to James, who were, again, smiling like usual.
"There is, like, the last one left, should I go give it to someone?" James asked, peeking at what was left in the paper box.
"That would be great, thank you," Remus answered and handed the last muffin to James.
"Then I will leave you, gentlemen. See you, Remus," James saluted.
"See you," Remus repeated and looked at Sirius, who were watching him with a smile.
"Are you going home?" he asked, and Remus nodded. "I was actually going to Lily, I have projects from Marlene, she wanted to show her."
"So you wanted us to go together?" guessed Remus. "I won't mind, it would be pleasure, actually."
And there they went, going to Sirius' car and taking off to Remus' and Lily's flat. Sirius was all cheerful and chatty, when they talked, and once in a while, he stopped looking at the road to look at Remus. Remus was in a more comfortable position, as a passenger. He could take Sirius all, without caring about the road, and he admitted to himself, that Sirius looked good in the outdoor lamplight. The shadows highlighted his sharp features and painted his face in different places, like on the cheekbones or on the chin.
At one point, Remus got the message, and Sirius stopped talking. "Sorry," said Remus.
"From whom?" asked Sirius.
"Regulus," Remus said automatically, and then he stilled, because well, he knew about the relationship between these two brothers.
Regulus: Thank you for the muffin, and tell Sirius I said hello.
Remus, of course, did not, deliver the message. He looked at Sirius, who now had furrowed eyebrows and seemed quite gloomy, in contrary to his previous state.
"You know," commented Remus. "Your moods are changing rapidly, like surprisingly fast."
"What?" Sirius acted surprised. "Oh, yeah, sorry."
"Nothing happened. But you don't have to worry about Regulus and me, you know. James must have given him a muffin, I just got a message with a 'thank you'."
"I don't worry about you and Regulus, you can be friends with whoever you want."
"And I am, am I not?" asked Remus, and patted Sirius on the arm. He wondered if Sirius got the suggestion, that he was with him at that moment, and he wanted to be. But then again, he didn't really understand Sirius all the time, so why Sirius should understand him. There could be so many reasons, why Sirius would be acting strange about his and Regulus' friendship, and he didn't even know from where to start. Was he jealous of Regulus? Of him? Maybe none of them, but more about prioritizing? Or maybe there was something about his experiences that made Sirius act this way? Because Regulus knew it would be like that. And since he knew, it must have been predictable in a way. And if something was predictable, there should have been a reason.
"Sure," Sirius said, hesitantly.
"Oh, and speaking about Regulus. Do you have many star-named relatives, or is it only you and Regulus?"
"Oh, it's not typical for Regulus to announce he's named after star, he must really like you," Sirius' voice sounded discouraged.
"He didn't," Remus shifted in his seat. He was watching Sirius, who had eyes on the road, as he should being a driver, though that wasn't the case. "I was researching stars after you told me about your name, it's pretty awesome, you know?"
Sirius risked a quick glance at Remus, and on his face bloomed the blush, Remus liked so much. "You did?"
"Yeah," Remus nodded, though Sirius couldn't see it. "Oh, you have to turn left next, and we will be there."
"Here?"
"Yes," Sirius turned, and they appeared on a familiar, narrow street. "The one behind this big, oak tree," Remus guided.
Sirius parked and they left the car. Remus nodded to Sirius, and they were entering his and Lily's flat in a few moments.
"Lily, you have a guest!" Remus called, and a shortly after, Lily's red hair appeared.
"Oh, Sirius! You're kind of unexpected, but not unwelcome, come," Lily smiled at him and led him further into the flat.
"Tea? Coffee?" Remus asked, already rummaging through the kitchen cabinets.
"Coffee, please," answered Sirius, and sat down on the settee with Lily. Remus saw in the corner of his eye that he was taking out some papers from his bag.
"Black?" questioned.
"Black," Sirius smiled at Remus and seemed amused for some reason.
Remus gave Sirius coffee, and also made himself and Lily teas. He handed her over one, and chatted a bit with them, then went to his room, leaving Sirius and Lily alone.
***
Sirius watched Remus go, sipping his coffee, which probably wasn't the best idea, looking at the time, but he was so accustomed to drinking coffee at all hours, that his tolerance made him consume this drink more for the taste, than for energizing value. He shifted his gaze to Lily, who was smiling while sipping her tea.
"It was pretty awesome, that Remus made your tea without even asking. Do you have a code or something?" Sirius asked to start their own conversation somehow.
"We always do teas for one another," Lily said, smiling. "Well, we know each other's habits, and we know when the other one is making a tea, and which one. Though in the afternoons we rather ask, because then it's more about what we feel like drinking. But at the evenings we both like to drink some herbal tea, and which one will be brewed is a surprise for the other person." Lily shrugged. "We really like the way it works, though it may sound silly, for some."
"Why silly?"
"Well, when we were getting to know each other, we once talked a great amount of time about teas, and one person commented that it's absurd we can chat about nothing for half an hour and more."
"That person must think very highly of themselves."
Lily shrugged. "Sometimes, yes." She ruffled through a lot of sheets of paper Sirius placed before. They all contained projects and designs Marlene wanted Lily to see. They were ready some time ago, but Marlene made some adjustments with thought of Lily. "These are terrific!" she commented, and Sirius made sure to remember this reaction to tell Marlene. "Oh, by the way, will there be some fashion runaway, before the collection release?"
"Yes, you will get the invitation, since you're part of the team, now. Well, you would probably even without being part of the team, at this point. James likes to invite his friends just because."
"Good, I'm curious," she laughed. "And I can't wait for the photoshoot. Recently, I visited Petunia. Well, I had some things to deliver to her. And your photo of her is the biggest thing hanging on the wall, I swear. Her portrait remind me of a display, really. It looks like a portrait of the monarch. It's a bit pretentious in my opinion, but at the same time, I kind of understand her. She looks excellent in there. I actually don't think I've ever complimented you, but your photos are really something. I've never seen Petunia so pretty in my life. And I don't even think she looks bad, she doesn't."
Sirius laughed and felt warm, because of the compliment. "It was actually a difficult to take good photos," he said, remembering the memorable day. "When I take photos, I have a tendency to convert my feelings into the picture. That's why I like to meet my models, before the photoshoot, so I can get to know them and feel them. Sometimes it's not even needed, because there are times when I look at someone, and have an image of them in my head almost instantly. Like I see a woman charging into the coffee house, all self-confident and unfazed, and I have this image of her in my mind, that I want to convey into the photo. Show how confident she is, and how she is someone really… cool, you know. It's a lot about feelings with me and my profession. That's also why I had to get all professional while doing your sister photos, because she was so arrogant and kind of snobbish, talking about her husband in this superior way. I had a task, not to capture her like this."
"That sounds…" Lily looked at Sirius astonished, and he was sure there was a blush on his face already. "Wonderful. Amazing. I don't think every photographer makes their photoshoots this way. Finding the… I don't know how to call it… Aura of sort? Let's call it aura. Finding it in people is like a full-time job alone. It's marvellous you do this, because you just… feel it."
"It's more about me being an emotional git," Sirius jokes, but Lily shook her head.
"Don't lower your value, Sirius."
"It's not… It's not about it. I really get emotional easily. And I'm an affection absorber. Give some of your love and I won't let you go."
Lily laughed and reached his hand to squeeze it. Sirius smiled at her. "And it's nothing bad. We all need different amounts of affection from people."
"I love that I have James, he's mine of tenderness."
Lily laughed. "You two, are such great friends."
"As are you and Remus."
"That's true," Lily smiled fondly.
They sat in silence for a few minutes, contemplating things known just for them. And then Sirius thought about Petunia again.
"Do you have a good relationship with your sister?"
Lily laughed. "Hell, no. The goal of her life is to make mine miserable, from the day I was born."
Sirius grinned. "Tell me something about it."
"Oh, yes, I've heard about your infamous brotherhood." Lily sighed, probably remembering the get-together. "Though, I believe it's the same as me and Petunia. I hate her, but I love her."
"I love that prat of my brother, too. He's insufferable, though."
"Oh, yeah, I agree with that. I mean, not your brother, but my sister. I guess many siblings around the world would agree, too."
"It's good we have our besties to be our second family, right?" Sirius sighed.
Lily laughed. "It's kind of weird we are talking about it, when you came with the project of Marlene's, now, that I think of it."
Sirius smiled contentedly. "Get used to it."
Lily rolled her eyes, but she stood up to change her position for one more comfortable, like she was to have a long conversation. "But, truly, I can't wait for this photoshoot." She said and placed her cheek on her bent knees. "I always dreamed of a photoshoot with Remus. I swear, if he liked this kind of thing, I would just buy one for us."
"He dislikes photos being taken of him, so much?"
"No, it's not that. He doesn't mind them. He has a lot of pictures in his room, and I have a lot of him on my phone. But he isn't really comfortable with attention. He doesn't mind photos, while he knows it's for him, me, or someone close. He's fond of making photos, but if it's for making memories, not for the act itself."
Sirius pondered about it. He could do this. If Remus felt comfortable with him, taking the photos, Sirius could make the photoshoot happen. Would Remus feel at ease with Sirius, though? They got a lot closer, and Sirius would clearly state it's for them only, not for any kind of public use. But he couldn't… Sirius suddenly got an idea and glanced at Lily with a surprised look on his face. She eyed him suspiciously.
But Sirius remembered Lily will have a birthday at the end of the month, and he wanted to take advantage of it. It would be beneficial for more than him. Sirius would get to make a private, domestic photoshoot with his friends, Lily could get photos with Remus and her own birthday party, and James would be pleased they finally got something to surprise Lily with. James got this problem, since he was searching for something in documents and saw Lily's file with big (well, it wasn't really big, but for James it was) thirtieth of January on it.
"You better not think about something weird, now," Lily said, but Sirius smiled smugly.
"I have a harmless idea. You will see one day."
Lily asked no more.
