You feel your head break the surface of the water and gasp for air. “Oh my goodness Y/n are you alright?” “Yeah, yeah I’m ok”. “I had no idea they’d bring you into this, I’m so sorry, love.” he said, helping you up out of the water. “Ced, it’s ok, I swear I’m fine. Honestly it wasn’t bad, I haven’t slept that well since I was like 10!” “Oh my Merlin Y/n you always see the bright side of things.” He takes your hand in his and you hope that you aren’t blushing. He tucks your soaking wet hair and he kisses you, until you are awkwardly broken apart by one of his friends yelling “Ok, ok you’re in love, we get it. Now lovebirds come here they’re about to announce the winners”. “That wasn’t awkward at all” you whispered to him, and he did his best not to laugh. “And in first place, Cedric Diggory” Dumbledore announced, and the entire crowd cheered. “I knew you would!” you said, jumping up and grabbing his hand in both of yours. You sat through all the other announcements and you went back to your dorm with Cedric. He gave you one of his quidditch jumpers to wear. You started to worry about what the third task will entail, about what’ll happen, about what you’ll do if something happens to Cedric. You knew from the beginning that something could happen, but it hadn’t felt real, like it’s actually happening, until now. “Hey, you alright?” he asked. He’s always been able to read you like that. “I mean… I’m just worried. I don’t know what I’ll do if I lose you. I really don’t!” You break down in tears. “Hey, hey it’s ok! Don’t worry about me, I’m not going anywhere, I promise you”. That stops you worrying. Cedric NEVER breaks a promise. You lay your head on his chest and he runs his fingers through your hair, and you fall asleep like that.
