You've got a friend in me
Summary
I CANNOT EVEN.
Note
Darlings, I don't know if anyone's done this before, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the first to clock such a notion as the following. But I just heard this song on a completely unrelated to toy story or marauders tiktok and now it's stuck in my mind as the theme song for Pads&Prongs the early years. So I just strung together a few visions of when I think they'd most likely play it and if you feel like expanding them feel free.

OK but James and Sirius playing 'You've got a friend in me' every time they felt sappy, after a Sirius meltdown because of a letter from Walburga, after a James meltdown because he'd let them all down when he forgot to wake them all early enough on the day of his quidditch tryouts to watch him-no one really minded not being awake at 6.30 on a Saturday morning- after a long day of classes, or studying for exams, or pranks, on Sirius' birthday, belting it out at the top of their lungs standing in the middle of Gryffindor common room standing on a table, from the top of the astronomy tower whenever Sirius really contemplated the gravity of his upbringing and needed to get away from it all.
Then when Sirius is afraid to tell James he's gay, and not only that he's gay for their other best friend, Moony, and he's ready to vomit after admitting it and James just flicks his wand to the record player and their song starts playing and Sirius instantly feels safe and loved.
And when James tells him that maybe the reason he hadn't been fawning over Evans in sixth year was because he was in love with his little brother, and just when it looked like Sirius was going to punch him in the face, he makes the split second decision that if anyone could give Reggie the love he deserves and craves it's James Fleamont Potter, so he just opens his arms for a hug and starts slowly singing 'You've got a friend in me' initially in a whisper while they hug and leading to a full on center stage theatrical production in the corridor while Minnie pokes her head out of a classroom and declares that they'd better decide what detention they'd prefer for the night as she's fed up finding new things for them do.
And then the same song playing at their weddings after the first dance, while their husband's just roll their eyes and pick up the book they'd brought along-yes of course to their own wedding party- flicking through Hemingway while Pads and Prongs get gradually more drunk and tactile with them all.
Or later on when their kids are all on the platform waiting for the Hogwarts express to leave the station, and they all decide that an embarrassing send-off could be the only proper send-off, so all the Marauders, Lily, Dorcas, Mary, Marlene, Evan and Barty belt out the same song, while their kids hide their faces behind trunks and owls.
AND THEN WHEN THEIR KIDS ARE ALL GROWN UP AND HAVING KIDS AND GETTING JOBS AND MOVING OUT AND PADS AND PRONGS CAN'T COOE WITH IT ALL SO THEY JUST KEEP FLEEINF THE ROOMS EVERYONE IS IN AND CRYING HUGGING EACH OTHER WHILE THEY SOB OUT 'YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME'!!...!!!!!!!.....
God I cannot even.
