Sirius was known for being a ladies man. All the girls in Gryffindor were in love with him and half of the girls from the other houses too. But everyone was in love with Remus. Remus was the Ryan Reynolds of Hogwarts. Even the "straight" men and gay women of Hogwarts would sleep with him if they got the chance.
Therefore, Sirius became know as the most jealous vindictive boyfriend as he would hex anyone who even looked at his Moony twice. Remus was so oblivious to this that James and Lily had a bet going on for how long it would take him to notice and how explosive his reaction would be.
But Remus already knew and hid a smile every time it happened as it was Sirius' way of showing his love. And that was all Remus wanted, to be loved.
