The first person to learn of her condition is her mother, Helen Granger, who is concerned to see her child hollow-eyed and bloated for the winter holidays. Helen immediately rearranges her schedule and takes a holiday from work to watch Hermione closely. Helen believes her daughter is suffering from malnutrition and takes her to the family doctor to run some tests. In the following days while they await the results, Helen mentions seeing a nutritionist and even suggests a psychologist several times. When she is called by the doctor and informed of her daughter's pregnancy, Helen simply stares at the phone in disbelief.
The second person informed of her pregnancy was her father Julian. Helen managed to wait for her husband to return home from work before telling him the news. They discuss the matter in hushed whispers, concerned by Hermione's lack of response and her obvious depression. Arthur Weasley is the third person to know. The Weasley's had been welcome at the Granger household previously and they were one of the few contacts the Granger's knew in the wizarding world.
Albus Dumbledore was quickly given the news and visited the Granger household two days later. He removed all knowledge of the pregnancy from her parent's minds and escorted Hermione from her childhood home. As she stood at the gates of Hogwarts, the Headmaster stared at her with solemn blue eyes. Hermione maintained her silence, although she couldn't help thinking I told you and you did nothing. As he opened the gates and led the way to Hogwarts, she could feel eyes watching her from the Forbidden Forest.
