It was silent in the Gryffindor common room, everyone was still asleep in their dorms, nearly everyone. Two read headed boys leaned over a large piece of parchment, spread around them there were many boxes variying from small to large and pieces of paper full of discarded ideas. Ideas for sweets, potions and games. Quietly they were whispering to each other till they heard silent steps coming from the girls dormitory.
Alarmed they looked up and hastily began to collect their notes, but it was to late. A girl with bushy brown hair entered the common room, carrying a large pile of books in her arms. Her gaze stopped at the two read heads. One of the identical boys quickly stood up and hurried up to her. „Hermoine, shall I help you? All thouse books do look quite heavy.“ From his language and generally behaviour it was easy to tell, that he wanted to distract her. He tried to unobtrusively walk in her line of sight, so that Hermione wasnt able to look at his brother and their notes. Hermione only raised an eyebrow. „Do you really think I dont know what you are doing, George? Your making new joke articles.“ „Hey! Im not George! Im Fred.“ Hermione rolled her eyes. „Just shut it George, I know who you are.“ George looked at her surprised. That was not typical Hermione behaviour. She walked past him and carried her books to the next table. She glanced at the twins notes. „I would add a tablespoon of chopped toad liver to this potion.“ She pointed at one piece of paper. „Why by Merlins favourite rubber duck are you helping us?“ George asked more then confused. She thought about it for a moment. „Well, your going to do it anyway, so you might aswell do it right.“ She shruged, but George could have sworn her eyes landed on Fred for a short moment. Did she really blush, or was it the shine of the fireplace reflecting on her skin. It could not have been a blush, he was no fool. Hermoine Granger would never look at his brother and blush.
George sat back down and took another look at their notes.
After a while George sighed frustrated. „This wont work.“ Fred looked at his brother. „I know, but we gave up a thousand times already. We need to get it right this time. If we dont stop the damn nosebleed, we will never be able to sell this.“ He also looked really frustrated. Hermoine looked up from her history of magic book and glanced at them. „Can I take a look?“ She took the parchment and read it quickly. Then she took her quill and started to cross out a few lines. She added some new and then handed it back to the twins. „Now it should work.“ Fred looked at the parchment, then he handed it to George. He looked at the changes and stared at Hermione. „This could really work.“ Fred sounded excited. „You are amazing Hermione. You were born for things like this.“ Hermiones smile got brighter. George could slap himself he imagened a blush on the girls cheeks again. There couldnt be something between Hermione and Fred. Could it?
Throughout the next week he caught his mind playing tricks on him more frequently. He felt like he was going insane. I could not only imagine this. After realising Ron also stared at Fred, but with so much jealousy, that if George imagined it, he was ready to turn himself in to a mental clinic.
Even though he already decided he was hallucinating, it slipped out of his mind when the Quidditch Season began. Training in the morning, in the evening and for some reason by night. He had way more important things in his head then the fact, that a rule following and strict witch was constantly staring at his brother. So it came, that he also missed the fact, that his brother startet to send the witch first small glances himself until there eyes met.
Everything came crashing down on him when he nearly ran into two figures bathed in moonlight, sitting together in a window niche in the middle of the night. He was on his way to return to his dorms after a detention with Professor Snape for setting a stink bomb in his office. He stopped dead in his tracks. None of the figures hat noticed him and continued there conversation. „You will take me for a fool“ whispered the boy while laying his arms around the girls shoulders. George knew this voice, he knew it all to well. It was Fred, his twin brother who was speaking, but he still wasnt going to announce his presence. Who knows what was going to happen. Just a bit longer and there might be a situation he could use to make fun of him forever.
„I think I’m made to be yours.“ George had trouble holding back his laughters. It couldnt be more cheesy, could it Fred? Who was this witch with him? He was pretty confident it wasnt Professor McGonagall. But he could never be sure. The girl started laughing and George could see how she tried to hit Freds shoulder. „You are such an idiot.“ George couldnt believe his ears. In no way this could be real. All thouse weeks he thought he was going insane but in the end it was real? How and when did this happen? Why had Fred never told him? It was indeed Hermione Granger, who always followed the rules, that was meeting up with his brother after curfew in the corridors. This was hillarious. George couldnt hold back anymore and started laughing.
„Mr. Weasley!“ George winced emidiatly. Another voice he recognised. Two other heads looked out of theire niche. Professor McGonagall was standing behind him in the corridor. She was wearing a dressing gown and had a look of annoiance painted on her face. „Your supposed to be in your dorm.“ She sounded tired. As she came closer she saw the other two students. „Mr. Weasley, Miss Granger“ Hermione quickly stood up. „I- uhm can explain this.“ Professor McGonagall interrupted her with a stern look. „I am really interested in this explanation.“ she looked between her and Fred back and forth. „I thought you were more responsible. We are already loosing the housecup because of them.“ She gestured to Fred and George. George started laughing again. The whole situation was just to hillarious. „Mister Weasly! It is long after curfew. 20 Points from each of you. It pains me that I need to take points from my own house“ But you could see the small hint of a smile on her face. George couldnt stop laughing. Fred looked at him annoyed, but also started grinning. And to everyones surprise, Hermione also began to laugh.
