When Flowers Wilt
<
Lily Evans was just a normal 16 year old, with a normal life. She had a boyfriend who she loved very much, she just wasn’t ready to admit that yet. And parents who adored her.
Lily and her sister had a falling out when she had gotten to go to a boarding school, which was very expensive mind you.
Lily was just winding down for the night, getting up to make some popcorn and watch a movie, she was reaching for the popcorn when the phone suddenly started to ring.

James had been walking down the street on the way to his girlfriends house. They were planning to watch a horror movie that had just come out, as they do every Friday evening when Lily’s parents were still at work.
As James walked down the street his phone started ringing, the caller id showed it to be Lily’s.
“Huh, that’s strange. Why is she calling me right now, she knows I’m on the way?” James muttered to himself.
James was about to answer the phone when he heard it, a horrible ear piercing screech coming right from Lily’s house.

“Hello.” Lily says as soon as she picks up the phone.
“Hello.” It’s a man who Lily doesn’t know.
She furrows her eyebrows and the man doesn’t speak again, so she decides to speak up. “Yes.”
“Who is this?” The man questions which makes Lily assume that he must have dialed the wrong number.
“Who are you trying to reach?” Lily asks the mysterious man.
“What number is this?” The man questions, completely ignoring Lilys question.
“What number are you trying to reach?” Lily responds more confused than ever. Why doesn’t he just hang up if he has the wrong number?
“I don’t know.” The man responds. Lily slightly smiles at his response.
“I think you have the wrong number.” Lily chuckled.
“Do I?” The man asks.
“It happens. Take care.” Lily shrugs and hangs the phone up.
She starts to head back to the kitchen when the phone rings again. Lily furrows her eyebrows again. She picks up the phone mildly annoyed.
“Hello.” Lily answers.
“I’m sorry. I guess I dialed the wrong number.” The man says with a shrugging tone.
“So why did you dial it again?” Lily asks the man.
“To apologize.” The man says.
“You’re forgiven. Bye now.” Lily says with a slight laugh and just as she was about to hang up the phone, the man spoke again.
“Wait, wait, don’t hang up.” The man begged.
Lily laughed, bringing her free hand up to her forehead. “I’m sure they have loads of numbers for that. See ya.”
Lily hung up the phone again and finally heads to the kitchen. She grabs the popcorn taking the lid off of it and turns the stove on.
She places the popcorn on the stove when the portable phone rings. “Ugh. Again?” Lily mumbles to herself. She picks up the phone and answers, “Hello.”
“Why don’t you want to talk to me?” The man said with a sad tone.
Lily grabs a mug from the counter and puts it in the sink when she responds, “Who is this?”
“You tell me your name, I’ll tell you mine.” The man says with a flirty tone.
Lily moves back to her popcorn shaking it. “I don’t think so.” She teases.
“What’s that noise?” The man questions.
Lily smiles, “Popcorn.”
“You’re making popcorn?” The man asks.
“Yup.” Lily smiles and stops shaking the popcorn.
“I only eat popcorn when I’m watching movies.” The man says.
“Well I am getting ready to watch a movie.” Lily giggles and moves to the island and leans on it.
“Really? What kind?”
“Just some scary movie?” Lily responds.
“Do you like scary movies?” The man asks Lily.
“Uh huh.” Lily responds.
“What’s your favorite scary movie?” The man asks, clearly flirting with her.
Lily stops leaning on the island. “Um I should really get going. My boyfriend is coming over.”
“Wait don’t go. We were having so much fun.” The man begs.
Lily furrows her eyebrows, “I should really get going.”
“Wait, you never told me your name.” The man says.
“Why do you want to know my name?” Lily asks the man and starts walking to her living room once again.
“Because I want to know who I’m looking at.” The man replies.
Lily stomach drops and she turns around and goes to her front door, locking it. “What did you say?” She asks. Scared.
“I want to know who I’m talking to.” The man changes his response trying to distract from what he had said before.
“That’s not what you said.” Lily says shaking her head. Her hands start to shake. She goes to her back door and locks it too.
“What do you think I said?” The man asks trying to make Lily confused.
Lily feels dizzy. She turns on the back porch’s light, surveying the outside to see if anyone is there. The popcorn pops which makes Lily jump. “I have to go now.”
“No don’t hang up on me.” The man demands and with that Lily hangs up and starts heading back to the kitchen. She slides the popcorn from the stove when the phone rings. Again.
“Yes?” Lily asks, clearly frustrated with this unknown man.
“I told you not to hang up on me.” The man states with anger in his tone.
“What do you want?” Lily snapped.
“To talk.” The man responds.
“Dial someone else, okay?” Lily says and hangs the phone up again. Jeez can’t a guy get a hint. Just as she was about to place the phone on the kitchen counter the phone rings. AGAIN. “Listen asshole.” Lily yells.
“NO, YOU LISTEN, YOU LITTLE BITCH. IF YOU HANG UP ON ME AGAIN I’LL GUT YOU LIKE A FISH. UNDERSTAND?” The man yells into the phone.
Lily is scared. The unknown man has her full attention. Her hands are super shaky. Her voice breaks when she asks, “Is this some kind of joke?” She brings her hand up to her chest trying to calm herself down.
“More of a game, really.” The man taunts. Lily starts to back up and heads back to the living room. “Can you handle that.” Lily runs back to the front door making sure she locked it. Clearly forgetting that she locked it earlier.
“Can you see me?” The caller taunts.
“Listen, in two seconds I’m calling the police.” Lily threatens the man and she looks out through the windows, checking to see if anybody is there.
“They’d never make it in time. We’re out in the middle of nowhere.” The man says, dryly.
“What do you want?” Lily asks him again, her voice cracking.
“To see what your insides look like.” The man says with pure evil in his voice.
Lily starts to cry. She’s shaking. She removes the phone from her ear and hangs up. “James hurry please.” Lily begs quietly. She starts walking away from the front door when the doorbell rings a few times. Lily jumps and cry’s out, “Who’s there?” No one answers. “I’m calling the police.” Lily cry’s out and the phone rings again. Lily sobs and screams. She answers it.
“You should never say “Who’s there?”. Don’t you watch scary movies? It’s a death wish.” The man tells her. Lily clutches the wall, almost collapsing. The man continues, “Might as well just come out here and investigate a strange noise or something.”
“Look you had your fun,” Lily crys, “so I think you should just leave or else-“
“Or else what?” The man interrupts.
“Or else my boyfriend will be here any second and beat your ass.” Lily bawled.
“Oh goody. Your boyfriend will get to see your dead body.” The man says and with that the front door bursts open.
Lily runs into the kitchen and grabs a knife. She goes into her family room quietly, trying to not make a noise. She dials James’ number into the phone.
She looks behind her and sees a person dressed in all black, with a knife. The figure turns around. He’s wearing a mask. A mask that looks like a ghost.
Lily screams and starts running. The masked figure chases after her. He jumps on top of her and causes her to fall. Lily drops the knife but is still clutching the phone.
The masked figure slides a few inches away from her. Giving Lily time to start running again, but as soon as she’s about to. Her leg gets grabbed and she falls to the floors.
Lily’s in pain from the fall. The masked figure is on top of her holding the knife above its head. The persons hands fall causing the knife to go into Lilys stomach and pulls the knife out.
Lily screams in pain. Her vison is blurred with tears in her eyes. She hits the masked figure in the head with the phone she still has in her hand.
The masked figure falls off her and Lily rolls over on her stomach and starts to crawl. Crying in pain.
Her leg is soon snatched again and Lily knew she had to keep fighting. The masked figure is soon on top of her again and rolls her on her back.
She tries to hit the person with the phone again, but instead her hand gets grabbed and hits the ground over and over until she loses grip of the phone.
Lilys hand hurts and she has nothing to hit the masked figure with. Lily cry’s trying to push the person off of her.
The masked figure soon raises its hand holding the knife and stabs Lily in the stomach, again. Lily screams out in pain, but is soon dead after the masked figured stabbed her five more times.
The masked figure looks at Lilys’ lifeless body and then decides to do one more thing.
The masked figure slices Lilys’ stomach open, making sure you can see her insides. More blood spills out of Lilys’ body and her insides are now visible.
The masked killer cleans their knife by rubbing it on Lilys’ clothes and quickly leaves the house making sure they didn’t leave a trace behind.

James went to unlock the door with the spare key, only to find the door had been forced open. Pushing the door open and glancing in he saw something he thought no one should ever have to see.
Blood was everywhere. Running around the house James was desperately trying to find his Lily. Only when he entered the kitchen and living room he found Lily laying there.
In a pool of her own blood James knew he was to late. Lily, his beloved Lily had been murdered.
Brutally stabbed 5 times in the chest and twice in her stomach, gutted like the killer got sadistic pleasure in watching his victim’s go through excruciating pain. James screamed and cried as he watched more and more blood pool out from Lily’s body.
At some point one of the neighbors must have heard the commotion, as no later than 15 minutes went by and the police and ambulance were there.
