Chapter 13
Chapter 11
(Jax’s POV)
(BTW Pomni and Jax have been dating for around 5-6 months idk I’m jumping around)
The Olympics! Yay… as much as I was looking forward to seeing Pomni glide across the ice like a damn snow queen, I was not looking forward to people. Lots and lots of people. We were at a practice rink and she was running through her routine again and again and again. I was positive she was ready for the real deal but she was having a panic attack. I walked over and placed a hand on her back. “You’re gonna do great.” I said with a smile.
“What if I mess up.” She said, accent ringing true. She bit her nail a nervous habit.
“You’re not gonna mess up ok?” I said rubbing small circles on her back.
“NUMBER 332. 5 MINUTE WARNING.” An automated voice came over the intercom.
“Alright babe. That’s you go kick some butt.” I said.
She started to walk away then ran to me and hugged me tight. I hugged her back. This was a huge moment in her life. She’s got this.
“Just focus on me ok? Try to find us in the audience. Focus on the ice. You’re going to be amazing.” I said then kissed her cheek. This time she ran off for real and we found our seats in the audience. We watched about 5 more routines before Pomni skated on the ice.
“And representing Russia we have, Pomni Petrov!” The announcer said, followed by a few other languages all saying the same thing.
The music started. No words. Just music. It looked so effortless. All the twists and jumps and turns she did were flawless. Then she went for it. The triple axel. The thing she was practicing over and over again. Her eyes locked on mine in the audience and I gave her a smile. Then she went for it. The jump? Flawless. Landing flawless but the step offer that not so much. She fell landing hard on her knee, but brushed it off as part of the routine. Me and the friend group stood up and Pomni finished. Bowed and skated off.
I found her clutching her knee on a bench.
“Whoa sweetie, what happened?” I said examining her leg.
“I not know. I land weird and now leg won’t straighten.” She said.
“Let me see…” I took her leg and Ragatha and Gangle held her hands as I tried to straighten her legs and halfway she wailed in pain. “Whoa, ok. Kinger go find a medic please. Pom I think ya broke your knee out there.” I said.
“WHAT?!” Pomni asked. “I practiced again and again and again! Not possible!” She said like she was trying to convince herself more than us.
“Hey, Pom. Look at me.” I said. She looked me in the eye. “You are gonna be okay. A broken knee is just an obstacle.”
Then Kinger ran over with a medic who sat down opened his kit and started examining Pomnis knee. “Ooooo. Yep you definitely busted it up. Let’s take you to the stand to get an X-Ray done and if it’s broken we’ll cast it up!” The man said. His voice was bright and cheery and I could tell it was calming Pomni down.
I carried Pomni down to the clinic and set her on a bed in a room since it wasn’t too crowded. A doctor walked in a few minutes later and explained what he was gonna do step by step then did it. Pomni held my hand the whole time.
The doctor left for a moment while we all sat in an uncomfortable silence. Then he came back in with some casting stuff. “Yeah you broke your knee clean down the middle. See here?” He said showing the x-ray to us all.
Pomni gasped her hand flying to her mouth. “О боже…” (oh god…)
The doctor ripped her thick tights revealing a nasty big cut and bruise. “We’re just gonna cast this up real quick.” The doctor murmured.
45 minutes later…
The doctor said she was gonna need a better thing once we were back in Wisconsin but this was the best they could do right now. Pomni was crushed on the ride back to the hotel. We got some food and tried to watch a movie to distract her from everything until the awards tomorrow.
(GUYS I DONT FRIGGEN KNOW HOW THE OLYMPICS WORK GO EASY ON ME🥲)
