CHAPTER FIVE | PANDORA LOVEGOOD

When she had arrived at The Tree, Dorcas was already there, waiting. Dorcas looked worried and anxious, brow furrowed, teeth biting at her lips, fingers drumming a rhythm on her thigh.

“Hey! You okay, Dorky?” Pandora asked as she sat down.

Dorcas lifted her head, eyes wide, “Yeah, I’m fine. Totally fine.”

Pandora raised a brow and Dorcas gave in almost immediately. “We made Amortentia in class today. You were right about the whole Marlene is going to sit next to you thing and we had to say what we smelt aloud.” Dorcas pressed her palms to her eyes, “It was her. Everything was her and I’m scared that she’ll figure it out and then she’ll hate me even more.”

Pandora nudged her shoulder, “Well, what did she smell?”

“I don’t know who. But I. . . I think it might be me.”

“So, your scared she’ll figure out you smelt her but you think that she smelt you?” Pandora shoved her, “Are you that dumb? She likes you, idiot!”

“Who likes who?” Regulus asked, putting his bad on the grass and slumping down beside them, all traces of ‘proper manners’ out the window.

“Marlene is in Dorcas’ Amortentia. Dorcas is in Marlene’s.” Pandora supplied helpfully.

Regulus shot up, “What?!”

Barty and Evan sat down next to them, hair messy, hickeys at their necks, uniforms rumpled. They looked at Regulus’ wide eyes and open mouth. They looked at Pandora’s knowing look and mischievous grin. They looked at Dorcas’ furrowed brow and fiddling fingers.

“So, what’d we miss?”

“Dorcas and Marlene are in each other’s Amortentia.” Regulus said.

“What?!” Evan practically screamed the word.

“Ask her out!” Barty shrieked.

“But what if she hates me!?” Dorcas groaned.

Pandora tugged her up, “Well, you’ve got a chance to ask her, right now.”

She was right. There, just coming out of the Quidditch Pitch, was Marlene McKinnon and James Potter. Marlene’s hair was pulled back roughly, wispy strands curling at her neck and forehead. Her skin was shining with sweat and her chest was heaving in exhaustion. Her eyes were bright and shone like the sun while her smile lit up her face. She was perfect for Dorcas.

Pandora practically kicked her away from The Tree and towards Marlene. Dorcas stumbled slightly then righted herself, took a deep breath and walked towards Marlene. Pandora couldn’t hear from where she was but she was fairly certain that Marlene had said yes based on their positive reactions.

When Marlene and James had walked back into the classroom, Dorcas made her way back to them, practically bouncing around with joy.

“Well, that’s one couple brought together. Wanna try and get everyone else together?” Pandora asked Evan and Barty as Regulus was far more interested in the retreating figure of James Potter.

The two boys grinned mischievously and Pandora was already scheming.

———————

Pandora had known that Mary and Lily had feelings for each other. At first, she’d been slightly upset because she had a crush on both of them but now she was happy for them, despite the harsh sting of her heart. She had found Mary and Lily hidden away at the back of the library, Mary making small origami shapes and Lily surrounded with books and stray papers.

Pandora sat in the seat that gave her the greatest advantage, one where she could see the both of them clearly. At the sudden arrival, the two girls looked up to find Pandora staring at them.

“What did you smell in your Amortentia?” Pandora asked.

“Wow, getting straight to the point, I see?” Mary teased.

“Hoping it’s you, tylwyth teg?” Lily questioned.

“What does that mean?” Pandora asked, she had been trying to learn Welsh but she hadn’t learnt that much yet.

Lily leaned forward, close enough that Pandora could smell her shampoo and whispered, “It means fairy, tylwyth teg.”

Pandora’s breath shuddered slightly before she remembered why she was here. She looked at Mary and Lily, obviously waiting for them to tell her.

“I smelt ink. Fresh, new ink. And parchment, the old kind that curls at the edges. Daisies or some kind of flower. And the beach.” Mary said.

Ink and parchment. That was definitely Lily. Flowers, maybe. But the beach?

“I smelt beer. Not butter beer, muggle beer. Hair products. Lipstick. Paints.” Lily supplied her answer.

Beer and hair products were Mary. Lipstick could be practically anyone. Paints though, they weren’t really Mary’s thing. Hmm. Lily and Mary glanced at each other before Lily pulled out a small glass vial.

“Well, now that we’ve told you ours.” Mary said.

They unscrewed the lid and held it towards Pandora. She sighed heavily.

“I smell. . . Roses. Clothes fresh out the dryer. Old leather. Coffee. Trees.” Pandora told them.

The two girls grinned at each other.

“So you smell us?” Mary purred.

Pandora felt weak at the knees on just the looks Mary and Lily were giving her. “Yes.”

“Good. Because we smell you too.” Lily replied.

“Wha-?”

Pandora was cut off by Lily placing a gentle kiss on her lips and Mary standing up to kiss at her neck. Mary was stood behind Pandora’s chair, leaving wet kisses and bits down her neck and shoulder. Lily was straddling her now, her kisses getting rougher. Pandora was gasping for breath, not used to kisses like these, especially from two people.

“If we keep going. We need to leave the library or I won’t stop.” Lily warned.

“Good. Because I won’t either.” Pandora whispered.

Suddenly, it was Lily being attached with kisses. The two girls found out that Lily had a very sensitive neck. And just as warned, no one stopped. It was lucky that they were in the back of the library.
