Diary

When they arrived at King”s Cross Station in London, there were wizarding parents waiting for their children on the platform. The Parents of muggleborn were not able to find their way through the barrier and thus had to wait for their children out in the mundane part of the station. Hari and her friends debarked the train. Only Neville’s parents were on the platform. The rest of them would have to go outside.

“Neville! Harry!” Greeted the Longbottom parents with the hug for each of them.

“Mum, Da’, these are our friends: Hermione, Dean, Sally and Justin.” Introduced Neville.

“Lilly?” Asked a strange man with black hair and purple eyes.

At this point, Hari had let her hair grow out so she had red hair on top and the bottom half was the original black.

“It’s Hari. And who are you?”

“It’s me, Progslett! Padfoot! I’m your godfather. I expected you to look more like James. But with your hair like that, you almost look like a girl.”

“I AM a girl,” growled Hari.

“No you’re not,” denied Sirius. “Trust me, I changed plenty of your nappies when you were a baby and my godson is a boy.”

“That was then,” explained Hari. “This is now. I have taken a gender-change potion so that my body matches my gender. I’m a girl now, soon to be a woman. If you can’t except that, we have nothing to discuss. Good day.”

“Wait a minute!” Protested Sirius. “I’m you godfather! Don’t you want to spend some time with me?”

“I only remember meeting you once before,” clarified Hari. “And that was ten years ago. I would of course like to know more about you. But if you would like to visit me, you need to make arrangements with my foster father, Frank and my godmother, Alice. Good day!”

In spite of that rocky start, Sirius arranged to visit Hari several times over the summer and she even visited him.

(Ow! That hurts! I don’t think I’ve ever had cramps that bad before!) thought Hari.

This was the first sign of her oncoming puberty. Girls mature faster than boys and the gender change potion had played havoc with her development. As a result, over the summer, she underwent the hormonal and physical changes that she should have undergone over the past year. By September, she would be normally developed for a girl her age. But it was not a painless process and other things in life did not help make things any easier.

“Harry Potter must not go to Hogywarts!” Proclaimed the house-elf that appeared in Hari’s room at Sirius’ house.

Hari took one look into Dobby’s mind and saw at a glance, who he was, who he belonged to, and what his master’s plans were from the upcoming year.

“Dobby, you don’t need to worry,” said Hari. “I will take care of everything.”

“But bad things with happen at Hoggywarts this year!” protested Dobby.

(Not if I can help it!) telepathically sent Hari, as she let the house-elf see her glowing eyes that were her true appearance.

The Malfoy house-elf popped away in fright.

As it turned out, it was an easy matter for Hari to telekinetically lift the diary from Ginny Weasley’s cauldron when Lucius Malfoy first slipped it to her, before she even knew she had it.

Once they returned home from their shopping trip, Hari took the diary to her room in the Longbottom house and opened it to find the pages blank. She knew from Dobby’s mind that it was cursed and from Lucius’ mind that it had belonged to his former Dark Lord. But she didn’t know how to work it. Taking a quill, she wrote:

“How does this work?”

“Hello. I am Tom. Who are you?” Appeared in the diary.

“I am Hari,” she wrote.

Suddenly Hari felt a tendril of telepathic contact, as if someone were trying to sneak into her mind. Hari countered it and the telepathic assault became more forceful. Once again she found herself in a telepathic fight for her life with Tom Riddle. Once again, she had to telepathically shred his mind. This time, she was not able to destroy the soul fragment of Voldemort. But she was able to erase all his memories leaving the book with the mind of a newborn baby Tom Riddle. Later, when she returned to school, she made a point of giving the diary to the headmaster, first thing.

“By the way,” asked Hari. “Are you aware that this Lockhart person is a fraud?”

“Why do you say that?” Asked Dumbledore.

(I scanned him when I first met him) projected Hari. “He collects the memories of his victims and writes books claiming their exploits as his own. His victims are left with no memories of the events.”

“Well even though he did not personally live through the events in question, he can still help you learn from them by recounting them,” offered Dumbledore.

“He is a telepathic criminal of the worse sort!” Countered Hari. “If you had a Psi Corps, they would be arresting him!”

“I’m certain that he would not try taking credit for the exploits of the students,” replied Dumbledore. “After all, you haven’t accumulated any life experiences worth stealing.”

“What about our virtue?” Demanded Hari. “If he goes around erasing peoples memories, what’s the stop him from abusing the children under his care and simply erasing the memories of the abuse afterward?”

“I’m certain no adult would perpetrate such and act on children,” scoffed Dumbledore.

Hari saw red! She let her glowing eyes show as she telepathically screamed at Dumbledore: (IF YOU DON’T DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PREDATOR, THEN FIRST CLASS I HAVE WITH HIM, I WILL TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM FOR YOU!)

The next morning, Lockhart was sitting at the Head table like nothing was wrong. Clearly, in spite of Hari’s threats, Dumbldore had done nothing. Scanning around, Hari saw that the two classes Lockhart had this morning, 5th and 7th year were filled with people who’s future careers depended on how well Lockhart taught his subject. Hari picked a 7th year, Marcus Flint and a 5th year, Cedric Diggory and intensified their worry about their future and how Lockhart’s class would fit in that.
Then she turned her attention to Lockhart. She scanned him deeply, as deeply as she could get away with without him noticing. She looked at his memories of the victims whose memories he stole. What were their personilities like? How did he remember them acting? Once she had a good feel for the victim’s personality, she created an illusion of that person that Only Lockhart could see and hear. Then she hid it away in his subconcious, dormant for now.

When they met in the great hall for lunch, the rumours were flying around the school. Apparently, in both Lockhart’s classes this morning, the students had challenged him and things had become so heated that the professor had to flee the class room. Dumbldore made a point of scolding the entire student body, which Hari tuned out as she scanned Lockhart for more victims that she created illusions of. At Dinner and breakfast the next morning Hari continued putting illusions in Lockhart’s mind. The morning of the second day, Hari had Defense Against the Dark Arts class, taught by Lockhart. He handed out his quiz, full of personal questions about him, Hari skimmed over the test but made no effort to complete it. Instead, she starred intently at the professor.

“Miss . . . Uh . . . . who are you? You, with the red hair?” Asked Lockhart, who clearly was not expecting Harry Potter to be a young woman. “Aren’t you going to clomplete your test?”

“There’s something on your back,” observed Hari, as she let all of the illusions loose at once.

“No! No! Get off me!” Screamed Lockhart as he began flailing about before he ran, screaming from the classroom.

That night, Dumbledore announced that Lockhart had been taken to Saint Mungos Hospital and would not be able to teach for now. As it turned out, The magical healers were unable to do anything for Lockhart and he spent the rest of his life heavily sedated.

Their study group was still an ongoing thing. They gained a couple of new members, Colin Crevey and Luna Lovegood. The group would do their homework together, then study their mundane subjects for their A-Levels. They would also take time for Hari to test they telepathic shields. By now, all of the second years were good enough at shielding that Hari judged it was time to encourage them to seed telepathic probes back. As expected, Ocultomancy or making telepathic shields was new to Colin and Luna and they had no skill what so ever at it. However when Harry tried scanning Luna, although her shields were non-existent, When she scanned Luna what she saw was so disorienting that it was a good as a telepathic shield. Luna tied sending back and that was when Hari realized that her mind was fully open to anyone around her and she was receiving at a low level, the thoughts of everyone nearby.

As the year progressed, Luna learned to block people out of her mind and the 2nd years had all suceeded in sending telepathic pokes back to Hari and Neville.

Hari still found the wand movements easy to pick up. It was like she aready learned it was was being reminded. But her wand was only a useless dowel. She would make all the proper movements, but was still using her psionic abilities to fake magic. Instead of casting the tickling charm, she would stimulate the pleasure centers of her classmate’s brain. Instead of the levitation charm, she would telekinetically lift things. Instead of a colour changing charm, she would telekinetically change the chemical makeup of the surface of the object. In transfiguration, she would break the object down into its' component particles and reasemble them in their required form. But she still had trouble with changing non-living matter into a living thing. Life was just too complex.

At the end of the year they were asked to pick electives. Hari, Justin and Sally picked Runes and Arithmancy. Neville and Dean picked Care of Magical Creatures and Divination. Hermione wanted to take everything!
