Chapter 5
(With the witch)
An intricately painted tea pot sits simmering over the stove, butterflies dance over the flowers accompanied by bees despite the lovely scene out the windows the witch sits alone with only the gentle swaying of flowers from the slightly warm wind, Casper sleeping over in the other room, her eyes are glazed over memories clouding her thoughts.
“Estelle!” a young voice calls giggling all the while, children are playing tag in the meadows birds overhead and a warm breeze running as fast as they through the trees surrounding the meadows. Spring has just begun the ice almost completely thawed over, deer begin to graze the grass and flowers open their petals to the sun. As the girls run and play, a wolf hunts an unsuspecting deer forging fear into the hearts off all present as screams fill the once joyful meadow a figure emerges from the trees
“Girls, girls be at peace the wolf has had its lunch and its doubtful they will hunt such strong witches as you.” The figure says to the children now hiding behind it. “Excuse me…? Who are you? What clan are you from? Are you a god?” the figure just chuckles as they begin to direct the children towards the meadow away from the trees “I am a god correct, my title is ‘God of gods’ I can assume you’ve heard of me?” The children look hesitantly at the god having heard the disagreements about such a title existing, yet someone who helped them couldn’t be too bad right?
A girl with pale white skin pronounced by her black hair with tips of red begins to speak up for the group having come to the assumption that the god just saved them so wouldn’t hurt them. “Thank you, God of Gods, I am Seren, and these are my friends Jasmine, Auri, Sirius, Elowen and Estelle. We will leave ourselves in your care to direct us out of the meadow back to the village should you confirm that your intentions are kind you may be seen so, and our words of your kindness shall spread should you do otherwise you are no god of ours and war will follow in your actions.” Taking a deep breath a hand from Estelle on her shoulder focuses her, continuing “So please, God of gods, may you guide us.”
The God only hums as he walks away the group following them as they weave their way through the forest, there are no birds, bees, wolves, deer or butterflies to interrupt the path as they follow quietly only the sounds of still thawing ice breaking under their steps can be heard.
“Elowen! There you are gosh darling come on the wolves are out let’s get you girls home now. God of gods, while I do not trust you, I thank you for guiding our children back to the village.” A woman with cold eyes spoke while dragging along the children from behind the god away from them, behind herself backing away, not a thought in her head but to get them out of the gods grasp.
“You must be one of the little ones mothers? Aunties, cousins? Ma’am you have so far shown the most danger look at the bruise forming on that poor girls arm your dragging, I must see her mother make sure it is not you who is doing wrong. What God would I be if I allowed a poor innocent child to get hurt under my watchful eyes?” A deranged sort of grin formed on their face one that spoke of danger and an underlying threat with the way it seems like their mouth is being held up by string, forcing it into an insincere smile. “Sister. I am her sister, and you are the one trespassing leave now before I call others.” The god knowing when to back away waved farewell to the children and disappeared back into dim woods. Still no animals could be heard coming from the woods and a chill had set into the air even though the winter had past, and spring was beginning to bloom.
The tea had simmered over the lid of the teapot by the time the witch had come back to hear body, Casper still snoozing, the tea was left finished by plants rather than herself having lost all appetite for the drink.
