Summary
An Immortal witch living her life by making tea, while mourning the loss of her love and friends from what now feels like a past life. Selling her teas to a nearby coffee shop she meets the new recruit, Rayne Sirius, a girl who reminds her of the life she once had.In this world, people are born with mostly dormant powers of the gods they are descent from and worship their stories, while witches are ostracized due to stories of lies depicting them as the ones who defied gods and cultivated power to a dangerous level.(This is my first fic btw, I also don't have any updating timeline)
Note
If this is hard to read please let me know cause I do want to improve and sorry for any spelling mistakes, I've purposefully not added the witches name but it will show up sometime later in the fic!! I hope you enjoy reading :D

Chapter 3

The sun begins to fall away replaced by a soft moonlight throughout the journey back home, the sounds of cars pollute her brain as the rush hour begins, the day had been event full teaching a child how to make tea, she seems to be one with potential but is sloppy her movements to brash for someone making tea causing her to spill most of it. The cold chill of winter eats at the witches bones old injures flare up as she walks Casper, having been playing in the gardens again chasing whisps of magic and fireflies, scurries to join her as they enter inside the scent is like rot, which there is some eating away at some old vegetables that went moldy rather than dried, both of them scrunched their noses at the distasteful scent followed by the witch going to make tea while Casper removed the vegetables cutting the string they are hung up from into an old pot to go out to the compost.

The room fills with the scent of tea, a black forest mix with rose petals, as the witch lets it boil she heads over to a small room at the back of the house. As she opens the door, the smell of old incense sticks penetrates her nose however she pays it no mind heading to light four incense sticks one for each of the fallen, she leaves a few fruit at the biggest one the one whom she misses its like her heart is a scab that keeps getting picked, an eternal wound forever bound to it, she stops in front of another shrine falling onto her knees her voice is cold and distant from herself.

“Sirius, I believe I have found someone of your husbands descent I can’t tell if I hate that he might have been unfaithful to your love or if you had a child somewhere along the line of your life and yet still thought to sacrifice yourself to save me… I plan to help her out a bit she looks like she needs a push to become someone great like you once were, are you disappointed in me or grateful I’m helping out someone even though I am not someone great or powerful myself.” Cutting of that line of that thought she stands, dust clinging to her skirt as she does so, moving to grab a rag she begins the mindless process of cleaning each shrine it somehow seems every time she enters the dust grows thicker and the cobwebs that paint the corners move further out to the center of the room.

She finishes the cleaning by removing the older fruit from her wife’s shrine making sure no juices touch anything other than her bare hands her sleeves fall with the movements and the juice runs down her arms following the scar patterns that disfigure her pale skin.

She exits quietly content to just float through the room; removing the fruit, pouring her tea, grinding down herbs, mixing pots and finally going to feed Casper as they begin to get ready for bed.

(With Rayne.)

“Father, Pa I’m home!” The words are yelled into the entrance of a small shrine as a bag is dumped into a corner, shoes following not long after. Rayne hopped over to a statue depicting an old god, the face of the figure flat of any describing details his face long forgotten through the years, lighting incense while showing respects to the forgotten god. By the time she finished two men had exited the side rooms of the shrine welcoming their daughter as they moved to take her hair down the tea leaves being carefully removed, words flowed out of her mouth towards her fathers relaying all she had learned with the witch and how she was frustrated to no end about being considered a ‘child’ in the eyes of someone so young, she didn’t even know the name of this woman for heaven’s sake!

A hearty chuckle is what breaks the rant “Ray-Ray, my sweet daughter, clearly you are being too narrow minded this is clearly a blessed time to learn and experience that will help you in the future, imagine the knowledge you can gain from someone your boss even calls Madam? If anything, you can learn how to deal with the sort of person this lady is and by the sounds of it she will be seen often in the café to deliver tea leaves so she could end up being a good friend, you don’t have to hang out with her everyday but take the time you know her as a learning opportunity!”

A softer sounding laugh finishes that off as her Pa announced to her father “Friend of foe, that Rayne runs hot headed in the face of a challenge. Show this woman you’re not to be underestimated.”
