the journey
it has been six months since they first entered this temple and James can't help but feel that the current happenings in his life is yet nothing but a dream, he must be sleeping limp, on one of the beds of hospital wing at Hogwarts after some prank went wrong which he just can not remember.
in these many months life has taken a drastic turn for him and his siblings, never in their oldest dreams did they ever imagine they would hatch dragons and bond with them like familiars, it appeared like one of the many stories their father told them about his own adventures when he was at Hogwarts, he was well aware of the Gringotts breakout but that did not include bonding with dragons.
he can still remember when the three sleeping dragons woke up from their slumber they were of different colors, red and green, and black, James took to the black one named him arraxes he was the largest one yet with blood-red scales and two big protruding horns on his head. his younger sister lily took to the green one she named her dragon Iris because her green body matches our family's eye color.th
the last remaining one though was red with a golden hue to it, he bonded with professor scamander surprisingly they expected him to bond with Albus, but in hindsight, their expectations were wrong albus already has Fawkes for a familiar, of course, he did not feel the bond but professor Scamander did. he names his dragon Raizel, what inspired the name he never told them.
the dragons since have grown exponentially, their centuries-long sleep and the continued culmination of magic in their cores, and an instant bond with James and his party has seen a ridiculous growth spurt they are as large as a small truck, they hunt everyday and occasion meat is cooked for them a taste they seem to savor they also fly with their dragons on brooms, but now that they are large enough he continues to feel a nudge on his mind from arraxes that wants him to claims upon his back and fly with him. professor scamander initially advised against it saying that dragons are not meant to be domesticated, but albus puts an end to the notion upon his discovery to be able to convert with Raizel in parseltongue.
his brother on more occasions than one had surprised them, he was for sure the most well-read among them, his very presence made life bearable in these wretched lands. he provided them with potions studied the star charts and even translated the journals of the dead man who left these dragons here by creating a translation potion for all of them, how he even learned that James does not know its aNEWT a level potion that his brother brewed at 14 for them, his continued research on the matter allowed them to come finding Bjorn Evensen was born in Scotland some 700 years ago, after completing 5 years at Hogwarts he somehow found himself whisked away to this world in a place called valyria he managed to marry into a small noble family the name of which he did not disclose regardless his talents in magic made him a worthy suitor and ensured him a dragon companion of his own he named swean

after many years of loyal service to the valyrian aristocracy as an abled dragon keeper, he went on a journey of his own that brought him to the shadowlands of assahi where he met his end. he left behind many books on his adventures written in valerian a language they learned to read. Still, there were not quite sure about pronunciations, they studies all they could about the known world like the different kinds of constellations and how the seasons were weird they lasted years for once and were inconsistent. their biggest surprise yet was when Fawkes manage to reach albus from another world, but could not find his way back whatever power allowed Fawkes to come to them did not allow to them return back, but it did not stop albus from studying more and more trying to find a way out a way to return back home.
James, on the other hand, knew it was close to impossible for them to return back home he was not a good potioneer or a runes craftsman but he was excellent in charms and duels and transfiguration he was also the only accomplished animagus in the family something even his father was not, a secret he strategically kept hidden, like his grandfather he could transform into a stag a big and strong one, while albus put all his effort in studying he kept up lily's education on magic, as time passed their bonds with their dragons grew further much like albus to fire travel with Fawkes, he and prof Scamander and lily took to having flights he was lucky that he had a vast assortment of materials useful for taking care of dragons, even if they were not meant as such.
he has counseled his brother to perhaps leave the temple and move away to find this place called valyria where they could offer their services in return for resources and a proper place to stay and research a way to find their way back, Albus who was at his wit's end on the matter had supported his decision and together they made preparations to move west to reach valyria it was their intention to make landfall in volantis which was the foremost colony of valyria according to the records of Bjorn. the plan was to stop there and use it as a temporary base to make connections with the concerned authorities, James had pushed for this plan in the hopes of finding an evolved magical society that will help them, but it was all hanging on a huge if, Bjorn's records had suggested that the world had remained in a continued dark age of sorts for thousands of years, and that was 700 years ago the odds were against them, but he knew the valyrians were the foremost in terms of magical knowledge according to the records they were the Atlantians of this world who had not sunk below the seas. even in their world, it was believed that Atlantians would have continued to be the most advanced society in the world, and the oppression and destruction of muggle, magical relations would have never come to pass if Atlantis was still thriving.
it was after 8 months in this world that they decided to leave. prof Scamander made them special seats to be placed upon their dragons, they were enchanted to be weightless and create a special bubble around the dragons to curtail wind resistance, their dragons now were larger than the size of elephants, prof Scamander knew that horntails grow very soon yes but they do not grow so large he expected to grow even further perhaps the size of a blue whale or larger in less than 5 years.
they completed their preparations and then set sail they were planning to reach volantis in two months they could have traveled faster but they did not know how things worked here they didn't wish to breach any borders and cause diplomatic incidents unnecessarily. while James appeared calm and collected and reassured his siblings many times that they will find a way back home. he could not help but feel it was not meant to be.
