Chapter 10

It was asked casually in passing.

 

"How long have I been here?" He paused, looking up from what he was working on.

 

"Pardon?" Hadrian shrugged.

 

"How long have I been here?" The Narrator was quiet for a while, observing Hadrian's body language.

 

"Why?" He asked. "Do you not like it here?"

 

Hadrian backtracked quickly, denying it profusely. "No, no— I love it here, truly!"

 

"Then why do you ask?"

 

"It's just— I know time passes differently here, but-"

 

"But?"

 

"Well—" Hadrian continued to rattle off his idea, a splendid one if it would work. And it would allow them to get revenge on the one who tore them apart for so long, the one who allowed such scars, however beautiful in his eyes, to mar that which was rightfully his.

 

His eyes glowed yellow with a malicious gleam, cheeks pulled back in a cruel smile.
