Chapter 3
Credence woke up with a start, his heart racing as he realized that he had fallen asleep. His hands were shaking, and he could feel a cold sweat breaking out all over his body.
And then he heard it. A voice, whispering in his ear. It was Grindelwald's voice, low and seductive. "You can't fight me forever, Credence," it said. "I'm still inside you. And soon, you'll be under my control once again."
Credence felt a surge of panic rising in his chest. He had been doing so well, had thought that he was finally breaking free from Grindelwald's hold. But now, it felt like he was losing control once again.
He turned to Newt, who was still sleeping soundly next to him. He didn't want to wake him up, didn't want to burden him with his own fears and doubts. But he didn't know how much longer he could fight Grindelwald's voice on his own.
The voice grew louder, more insistent. "You belong to me, Credence," it said. "You can't escape your destiny."
Credence tried to push the voice away, tried to remind himself that he was in control of his own actions. But it was hard. So hard. He felt like he was fighting a losing battle, like Grindelwald was always lurking in the shadows, waiting to take control once again.
And then, just as suddenly as it had started, the voice disappeared. Credence was left gasping for air, his heart pounding in his chest. He didn't know how much longer he could keep going like this.
...
Credence kept the voice to himself, not wanting to worry Newt or anyone else. He knew that they were already in a precarious situation, and he didn't want to add to their troubles.
But the voice continued to haunt him, growing stronger and more persistent with each passing day. He tried to ignore it, to push it away, but it was always there, lurking in the back of his mind.
Eventually, they realized that they needed to change their hiding spot. It wasn't safe for them to stay in one place for too long, especially with Grindelwald's forces searching for them.
Credence was still struggling with the voice, but he tried his best to keep it hidden. He didn't want to put Newt or anyone else in danger. But it was getting harder and harder to hide the truth.
As they made their way through the city, Credence felt like he was constantly looking over his shoulder, always on the alert for any sign of danger. The voice was getting louder, more insistent, and he wasn't sure how much longer he could keep it a secret.
But then they found a new hiding spot, a small cottage on the outskirts of town. It was secluded and hidden, and Credence felt like it was the safest place they had been in a long time.
For a little while, he was able to forget about the voice, to focus on the small moments of peace and happiness that he shared with Newt. But he knew that it wouldn't last forever. Grindelwald was still out there, and the voice was always waiting in the wings, ready to take control once again.
