Sirius Black (part 1)

The Little nine-year-old Regulus poked slightly his head through the railing to take a quick look to his brother’s silhouette, who was already going through the door next to their mother, on their way to platform 9 ¾, course to his first year at Hogwarts. Regulus had not wanted to give Sirius a proper goodbye the day before when he had had his chance. The previous day he had cried like a baby and as his mother didn´t like crying he had no choice but to stay locked in his room. He was angry at his older brother for leaving him alone with their parents. To that moment, they had always been together, if Regulus cried, Sirius was always there to do something worse and avoid their mother to hurt the younger, or if Sirius wanted to laugh, Reg would always be willing to play his “good child” role so Sirius could carry on with his pranks. All of that was ending, Regulus knew.

Sirius turned his head, directly facing the place where his younger brother was trying to hide. In the end, Sirius knew the little Reggie would not be able to let him leave without a goodbye. He didn´t make things difficult for Reg and just smiled as he left the room followed by his mom, who was pushing him carefully not to get any wrinkles in Sirius’s robe.

Regulus returned to his room directly and closed the door behind him, ready to stare at the ceiling for hours, practicing his new technique of not feeling anything at all, he would definitely be using it now that his brother was gone. He knew it was just one year, just one year to be crossing that door next to his brother, ready to go to Hogwarts together. Everything as it had to be. Far away from Walburga and Orion. Far from “family.”

Regulus perked up, his brother would be back for Christmas anyways, it wouldn’t be that bad. He decided that it was funnier to think about what Sirius would do when he arrived at school. Clearly, he would be a Slytherin, all the Blacks were. Sirius had always been a bit… loud and different to his family but Regulus had no doubts that his brother was entering Slytherin anyways. He would meet with their cousins there, Bellatrix and Narcissa Black, or as Sirius called them, Bella, and Cissy. Regulus could not avoid giggling at that, he had never been brave enough to shorten anybody’s name, that was more of a Sirius’s thing, Bella, Cissy, Reggie…

¡He would be able to play proper quidditch! Sirius and he had always dreamt of joining a scholar team. Oh, Sirius would be an excellent beater, and Regulus would join as a seeker as soon as he could. How incredible was it going to be when they could play together in the same team!

Probably Sirius would make new friends, that didn’t bother Regulus, he himself intended to have his own lot the following year. It would be so amazingly cool to spend vacations with friends and inviting them over Christmas dinners. Walburga, Sirius’s and Reg’s mother had given them a list of last names who were to be avoided and others, all of them pure bloods, who were acceptable companies for a Black. Of course, no muggle-borns or half-bloods. As long as Sirius wasn’t so… well, so Sirius, everything would be ok.

Young Black went on fantasizing about his brother’s adventures at his new school until he fell asleep with a little smirk in his face.
