Battle Scars - Guy Sebastian/Lupe Fiasco
Timothy looks at himself in the mirror. It was all over. His brother was dead. His fingers trace the scars, despite the fact that his chest and torso look like a piece of art, he hates it. All of those scars that painted a map of his pain and life. 33 years of torture, he couldn’t believe he lived through it all. He sighed and pulled his shirt over his chest and buttoned it up, hiding his pain and suffering.
Maria knew her father was struggling. It was months after the final battle, and he was finally home again. She finally had her father back. He was still suffering. His head wasn’t healthy. The things he went through and the things he did was haunting him. He suffered torture under his brothers hand and she didn’t know how to help him. She wanted to help him badly, but she couldn’t. All she could do was hug him and hold him close and love him. She hoped he could heal.
Timothy embraced his daughter and held her close, pressing a kiss to her forehead. He loved her so much. She was the reason he was still alive, and he wouldn’t change anything from the past three decades of his pain. She was worth it. Being able to hold her in his arms was worth it for him. Those scars told a story. Told his story. He may not like the story and he may have suffered immensely but she was worth it.
