To spend a whole day inside your room doing extracurricular work for school during the summer, you need two things, Regulus thought. Those things were: the deliciously smelling coffee his uncle was brewing downstairs while he was waking up; and motivation, for example, if today he managed to get the two assignments he started yesterday done, he would give himself the pleasure of getting absolutely smashed at a bar with Barty and Evan tonight and maybe… call that guy he went home with a couple of weeks ago? It was a possibility.
He also had to romanticize it, because after all, he was doing school work over the summer to get a scholarship. So he had to find something that made him feel good. Some days it was going to the library and pretending he is so smart and everybody is looking at him. Some days it was going to a coffee shop and flirting with the barista a bit before spending hours sitting there looking nice. Some days, like today, he just had to be comfortable, play good music and talk to Pandora on videocall for hours (since she was doing the exact same thing he was), and post a bunch of stories to get attention online.
He could hear his brother looking for god knows what very loudly on the other side of the wall, like he was on a rush. Which was weird, because he didn’t have to work today, so he could have slept in. He would find out shortly.
He went down the stairs and could hear Alphard playing his usual radio, while saying something; he was probably talking to himself, he often did that. Regulus walked in the kitchen with a lovely smile on his face, waiting for the always coming comment about how he looked that his uncle never failed to deliver. He headed straight for the mug cabinet.
“Good morning.” Regulus said and he was met with a head-to-toe look.
“Do you have shorts that are shorter?” Alphard asked, he was not annoyed by it; apparently, he found it funny.
“I absolutely do, do these not look good?” He replied resting on the counter before reaching for the pot.
“No, they look fine. Just wanted to know.” He said and started to walk out. Regulus laughed, looking around thinking what he could eat.
“One day you are going to have to tell me to change, Alphie.” Regulus warned him. Alphard stood at the door and simply said:
“I’m not your father, I have the balls to do what I have to.” There it was, the comment that was very similar to the ‘One day you are going to make me kill a boy.’ or the ‘Just let me know the weapon you’d like me to use.’ comments. Regulus was leaning inside the fridge when he decided to announce: “We have company, by the way.”
Regulus straightened up and turned around quickly. The bastard; of course, he was joking about that taking advantage of the fact that Regulus didn’t look anywhere besides his objective, and waiting until that moment to announce that, there was in fact a boy, sitting in the kitchen table with a cup of coffee.
The boy, nameless, because he had never seen him in his life, looked like a deer in headlights and if his skin wasn’t that lovely golden tan shade, old Alphard would notice the blush on his cheeks; but he was old and blind, so he didn’t notice he may have had to use one of the lovely and rusty shotguns he inherited from his father in that moment.
Regulus looked at his uncle and flipped him off; and then the old man left.
“I’m assuming you are a friend of my brother.” Regulus said and continued preparing his breakfast, moving around the kitchen with thought now that he knew he wasn’t alone. The boy took a second to react, Regulus wasn’t looking at him anyway. But he sounded like he was short circuiting when he spoke.
“Yes, um- James. My name is James.” Regulus closed his eyes while he was spreading the avocado dip on his bread (that lovely old Alphard had already toasted for him). Boy, now with a name; James, still looked sunned when Regulus looked over his shoulder, to get a second look. Broad shoulders, glasses, slightly crooked nose, struggling not to think the wrong thing about his friend’s younger brother. Regulus smiled to himself, Remus was fucking right; assuming this was the James he had heard about, he was totally his type.
“Hello, James. I’m Regulus.” He told him, and continued doing his thing. Sirius didn’t give him enough time to think about the ways he could terrorise him, when he appeared through the door.
“Good morning, bad brother.” Sirius said. Regulus just nodded. “Jamie, let’s go.”
The boy stood up immediately, specially when Regulus turned around to continue the conversation.
“Why am I a bad brother? And where are you going?” He asked. Sirius looked at him and scoffed.
“I’m going to get my blood tested and James is here to come with me, in case I pass out, since you are not a good enough brother to do that.” Regulus hummed in agreement.
“That’s too bad. I have an appointment to get my nails done at lunch, will you be back?” He asked looking between the two boys.
“I am going to get blood extracted from my body! I can’t drive you places!” Sirius yelled outraged, offended. Regulus pouted and picked his breakfast to go to his room.
“I can give you a ride.” James said out of nowhere. Both brothers looked at him in very different manners. It was an unfortunate choice of words. Regulus wanted to laugh so hard, but had to keep it in. Sirius looked at him like he was about to murder him on the spot, because unlike Alphard, he wasn’t blind.
“Of course, you would. Of course, you traitor.” Sirius told him between gritted teeth and walked towards him. James started defending himself before his friends stared touching him.
“Not like that, you moron. I mean if he really needs to go somewhere I can take him.” Sirius started fuming at that.
“He doesn’t need anyone, he can drive! He is just lazy.” He told James and started pushing him out of the kitchen, Regulus walked behind them with his food in his hand. James kept making it worse.
“Well, driving is not for everyone.” At that point, Sirius was hitting him hard. Regulus was just smiling, laughing internally at the way his brother was ‘protecting’ him.
“Walk out of that door, James Potter.” Sirius said when they reached the door and James turned around to just wave at Regulus. He quickly turned around and Regulus saw him run to his car.
With that, another boring morning of studying started. But that bit of attention he got was fuel for a little daydreaming while he finished his essay. James was very nice looking. He had to find a way to get him and Sirius to go out with them that night. He talked to Pandora a bit and at some point, Barty joined. He told them that he met his brother so called best friend and commented all the interaction.
“I didn’t even say two sentences to him, and he was offering me a ride! The power of booty shorts, my friends.” He told them. Maybe he was a bit overly exited at the thought and it was nothing. He had heard a lot about this James Potter to know that maybe he was a good catch. Pandora laughed and Barty simply stated:
“Make him your bitch, Reggie, in the name of evil.”
He continued with his work and not long after he heard the door open and a dramatic being scream: “I am alive.”
Regulus smiled, as he heard steps coming directly to his room.
“Ah, so you did not die. I still have to split the inheritance.” He said when his brother plummeted himself on his bed.
“I did actually pass out though.” Sirius said and it took Regulus not even a second to burst out laughing. A pillow flew to his head. “They had to take a lot of blood.”
“Right, so definitely not you being afraid of needles?” He said trying to calm down.
“No, they said it was normal. But I had to stay longer than usual.” Sirius answered pouting. Regulus smiled only a little and another pillow hit his face. “So I definitely can’t drive you today.”
“It’s okay. Andy pushed my appointment to five, so Barty is taking me.” Regulus told him. He heard another set of footsteps coming out of the bathroom and come to his room. Regulus loved this house; and once he discovered how to recognize every sound of it, he felt like he could tell the future. And in no time James appeared at his door. He didn’t glance at him, he kept looking at his brother. “And then we are going out. You guys should come.”
He addressed James then; Sirius opened his mouth to reply but, Regulus continued.
“James, I feel compelled to buy you a drink for being willing to hold my brother’s hand through death.” James smiled and blushed. Sirius started to turn red. “But only one, because he did not die. Nothing to celebrate.”
The boy laughed a little too loud, Regulus found it delightful. He was lovely to look at. And apparently Regulus’ bed still had pillows on it because one of them hit James’ face. Regulus looked at his brother, who was about to die for the second time that day, but this time because of rage.
“Anyway, please come. Barty misses you.” Regulus told him and pouted. James coughed out of his sight. He smiled at the thought that James choked on his spit when he saw him do that expression maybe.
“I would like that.” The boy said. Sirius rolled his eyes so far back that he looked like he was getting a seizure.
“Of course, you would, man whore.” Sirius told him.
“I would appreciate if you stopped insulting me for the day. You exhausted all the curse words and nicknames.” James said, talking down to him like he was his mother. Regulus found that very amusing. “You owe me a drink too.”
Regulus smiled at the acceptance of his invitation. And Sirius put down his act to accept too.
“You know what? I could take a drink or two. And I miss hanging out with you guys too.” He said looking at Regulus.
“Great. I’ll text you where we are going.” He told his brother and faced his computer again. from his mirror he could see James put a tiny smile that he quickly faded when Sirius looked at him.
His day continued, and with another essay done by the time he had to almost go to his appointment, he confirmed to his friends that he was in fact going out, because he finished all of his assignments for the day. And Barty picked him up. He caught up with his cousin and then they stepped into a record store to get Evan one last present for his birthday. By the time they got to the chosen bar, Dorcas was already waiting for them.
Two pints appeared in front of them like Dorcas maybe had conspired with the waiter. Regulus always started with a beer to test his own waters. Barty immediately had to mention that Regulus invited a boy to hang out, plus Sirius. Dorcas laughed, because of course Regulus would do that to his brother.
He wasn’t doing anything to him. He was just going off of Remus’ word that he would like him. And maybe he needed someone to like at the moment. But he was not going to play with the boy, he was just going to see if anything clicked.
Evan arrived yelling for someone to give him drama, because he was bored. Dorcas caught him up on Regulus evil plan to make his brother miserable. Which was not true, he had to clarify. James seemed like a sweet boy that needed to have some fun. And his brother was a dramatic asshole. Another round of drinks appeared, again, magically.
Sirius and Remus arrived alone. Regulus’ shoulders dropped. They walked towards them and they were received enthusiastically. Remus looked at him with a smirk on his devilish face.
“He’s parking.” He said. Regulus blinked at him and looked around.
“Oh, I thought we were set.” He answered him, pretending he didn’t notice, with a smile on his face. Remus chuckled. “I’m hungry. Do you reckon the food here is good?”
“No one can mess up some chips, right?” Dorcas told him. They all agreed.
Regulus waited for James to walk in. Staring at the door. He had a feeling in his stomach, weird but comforting. He was starting to feel lighter from the alcohol. And Dorcas had already ordered him another rum with coke. That was a problem they had, his friends and him, the drinks run out fast when they were together.
James walked in and nobody noticed. He was reaching for his phone to text someone but Regulus started waving at him. James noticed the crazy person waving his hand at him and smiled. Regulus kept waving like an idiot as he walked towards their table.
He seemed exited to meet everyone, but Regulus kept seeing him looking his way. They had no more stools, so he had to look for one and he set it right next to him. Regulus looked away while he was settling down. He saw Barty struggling so hard not to comment and Evan with his jaw on the floor.
He had met this boy that morning, he couldn’t be acting this stupid about it. But he looked even better than that morning. And he hadn’t realised the hard impression he had left on him.
“Have you been warned yet, James?” Dorcas let her mouth loose.
“Don’t start, Cas. It’s not funny.” Sirius warned her. James looked around and so did Regulus. Assholes were trying not to laugh and poor James didn’t know what he had gotten himself into.
“I just think, that you have always been a little shit about it. Why so overprotective, Siri?” She asked, while she laughed.
“I’m not over- okay, no. I’m not falling in your trap.” Sirius finished. James was still confused.
“I didn’t quite get it.” James said, Sirius could have killed him if he threw fire through his eyes.
“That you should think twice, maybe twenty times… before thinking of Regulus.” Dorcas announced in a deep voice. James laughed, and Regulus thought that was a blessed sound.
“Oh, I have been told.” He said picking his drink.
“He’s not gonna break, he promised on my deathbed.” Sirius announced proudly.
“You didn’t die, though.” James joked.
“Do you want to die?” Remus asked him. James shrugged. Regulus wanted to get out of his head the thought that James was so flushed after meeting Regulus that Sirius made him promise. But it was so funny to him, that his next decision was to accept to get a drink with him.
Time passed slowly, while they were having fun. They attacked the food, and made a mess on the table. Dorcas and Regulus made all of them dance and make a fool of themselves to the whole bar. James was a bad dancer, but it was funny. Regulus felt watched by him, and every time he looked back, he was right.
When Sirius didn’t notice anything but Remus anymore, Regulus sat back on the table and smiled at him. Surely, James followed him.
“Did he really make you promise? He’s so embarrassing.” Regulus complained.
“You think I’m going to listen to him?” James said looking forward. Regulus had his eyes set on the way his lips hugged the glass when he drank. Regulus… was drunk. He laughed shortly. James probably wasn’t the sweet boy everyone thought he was.
“You think I ever listen to him? Please, I have a professional license to terrorize him.” He said. James kept looking forward, but he smiled. “But you met me this morning. I could a big mistake. I tend to be.”
That caught James’ attention. He looked outraged.
“I don’t believe that.” He said, then made a pause. Regulus shrugged. “He also said you wouldn’t like me, because you like idiots.”
“Oh, yeah. There’s that. I guess you don’t have a chance.” Regulus joked. The alcohol was tugging on his togue and pulling the muscles in his face to smile too much. What was happening to him?
“Do you think he is testing us?” Regulus didn’t understand that. James explained. “Remus told me repeatedly that he said he wished you would like people like his friends. Why would he stop me?”
“You have a point. Have you also considered that he thinks I like living withing hook up culture and doesn’t really know about my love life?” Regulus asked him. James was so close.
“You got me there.” He said and considered his words. “I hate it too. Hooking up and doing nothing else.”
Regulus hummed in agreement. Sirius noticed them and walked to interrupt.
“You are not making advances on my best friend are you, Reggie?” He slurred out. Regulus shrugged.
“He asked me if I could take him home to check I heard the cars from his room too. I said no, of course.” James told him.
“Don’t be idiots.” He said pouting.
“Don’t worry, Siri; it’s all from the mouth out.” James nodded at that. Regulus looked at him and shook his head mouthing that he was serious. James laughed. Luckily, Sirius didn’t have anything to throw at them that didn’t break. He was never joking about not liking certain guys for Regulus. He was brutal when a boy (“Because they are always stupid, little boys, Reg.”) was not good enough for him.
But Regulus wondered why he was so against having his best friend liking his brother, if he was in his own words “The best man to ever grace the planet with his presence.” Maybe it was the fact that he had to watch.
“You two are too stupid for your own good.” Sirius managed out. He looked disgusted.
“What do you mean, Siri?” If there was on thing he could enjoy, it was his brother spilling his thought while he was drunk.
“Because you both always do it wrong. And that’s the last thing I’m gonna say.” He said and walked away. Regulus was left thinking. So the problem was that he didn’t court people the right way. Interesting.
“Well, I didn’t have my best friend roasting me for having shit love life on my bingo card.” James said after a few seconds. Regulus was done with talking about Sirius.
“What was on your card?” Regulus asked him, leaning in close, so he didn’t have to be loud.
“It’s… private.” Regulus scoffed.
“Okay. I was expecting Barty to throw up and Sirius to fall at least twice. Remus being a match maker, that was a checked. And a little bit more than just flirting, but there’s not enough gay people at this bar.” He listed at him. James was swallowing hard. “Or not enough brave men.”
James grinned; it was the first crime he committed that night. Giving Regulus the satisfaction of seeing his true face. The one your friends don’t see. The one you only show when you are about to do something really bad. It made him shiver. James was not such a sweet boy.
“Do I look like a coward?” He looked at Regulus, who hadn’t realised how close he had gotten to him. Regulus pouted; James’ eyes shined with something passionate.
“You haven’t done anything courageous yet. Like- I don’t know, dance with me or…” He told him, and led his hand down his arm. Just one finger, trailing his muscles. “Touched me, even a little.”
“Well, you’ve seen me dance so…” James’s cockiness walked out the door that second. Why he fell backwards on his words, Regulus didn’t know.
“Yeah, you are probably better at the other thing.” James swallowed the last sip of his drink slowly. Played with it in his mouth like it was Regulus’ words and they burned him.
“Maybe, I don’t want to be this public.” He said finally. Regulus hummed. “Maybe, I don’t want anyone to see how you look when I…”
Regulus was starting to feel the heat in that sentence when Remus interrupted. He pressed his thighs together trying to not feel the pulse in-between them. Regulus was being stupid, like his brother had said.
“I need you to help me take Sirius to the car, big boy.” He said to James. The boy coughed. He had been so close. He was probably choking on his words right there.
“We should leave.”
“Yeah. You are right.” James stood up form his chair and nodded at Regulus. “I don’t think I’ve said it was lovely to meet you.”
“And you too. I’ll see you soon.” Regulus felt weak. He had sobered up suddenly, and now he had to watch James leave, having given him nothing. Having done nothing but said a few words. It was bound to be a slow ride if it continued like this.
What has this boy done to him? What was it in him that had the capacity to make Regulus feel like this? He had that sweet boyish look, but he almost said things that were out of character. Regulus liked a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
The three boys left and his friends walked to the table. Regulus probably looked dishevelled.
“Well, I guess you are going to have to deal with yourself tonight, Reginald.” Dorcas told him when his brother and his friends were out of sight. Regulus was still looking at the door they went out of.
“He was hot. Remus was right.” Barty said to the group, his boyfriend elbowed him in the ribs and he winced.
“I hope for your best interest that he is not that good of a friend.” Evan said apologetically.
Regulus couldn’t say anything, just laughed at their comments. He couldn’t confess he was about to walk out of that bar to check if he was still outside or that he was two seconds away from asking Remus for his number, because he was stupid and didn’t ask for it to him. He was looking at the door every few moments to see if by some miracle he would come in. But then told himself he wasn’t living in a romance movie, so he wouldn’t do that. His head gravitated to watch it anyway.
Dorcas found someone she knew from school and started chatting and it was not long before she went out to the little dancefloor of the bar. Barty and Evan disappeared suddenly, probably to do things you shouldn’t do in a public place, but who was him to judge. Regulus kept watching the door, but stopped only to prove himself he was not obsessing with this boy he just met. Or in other words, text some guy he already hooked up with to see if he was available. He was doing that, yes. He lifted his phone, redacted the message and started putting it in line with the door; he told himself: if he doesn’t come trough that door in the next ten seconds, I’ll send it.
He debated whether he should count backwards or forward.
Normal or with a word in between to make it more like real time; was that an actual thing? how did seconds work?
Maybe a timer on his phone would be more realistic.
Maybe he should do twenty seconds.
He was still holding his phone in front of his face, switching his sight from the text to the door, when he felt someone sit in front of him.
“What are you doing?” James asked him. He didn’t pull a muscle in his neck from how fast he turned to him by pure luck, but he did almost fall from his stool. He felt a smile on his face grow wide and felt like an idiot. Tried to pretend he was totally relaxed about this, but his voice failed him.
“Did you forget something?” He cracked out. The music was suddenly louder so James had to yell at him, before moving to sit right next to him.
“Yeah, you.” While he was sitting back down, Regulus was laughing. He looked back at him when he was settled. “Was that too bold?”
“Did you lie to my brother?” Was the only thing he could say. James nodded. “How’d you manage that?”
“Well, it was going to be too obvious of me if I stayed back initially.” He explained. Regulus nodded this time. “But if I walked him out and came back in, he would kick me all the way to my car and my house, and tied me up in my bed with one of the fancy handcuffs he uses with Remus.”
“Oh, no. I did not need to know that.” Regulus yelled disgusted. James laughed. Then he continued walking Regulus through his master plan.
“So anyway, I walked them to their car, walked all the way to mine. Sat there for a minute, contemplated my actions. And then came back in, when I was sure they had already drove off.” He finished with a dashing smile.
“You did all that? To come back and talk to me?” Regulus asked.
“Is that bad?” James said. His eyes were shining with a little bit of mischief.
“No, it’s perfect.” He answered him. Regulus felt absolutely starstruck.
James was sitting next to him, staring down at his hands for some reason, so he followed the entire movement of him grabbing his phone and checking the time. A movement that led him to probably make a stupid decision.
“Do you want to come home with me, James?” He said. James looked back at him and open his eyes wide. He was probably expecting for Regulus to make it a bit harder or maybe he really did just come back to chat.
“Well, I do… but-“ He started. Regulus interrupted him.
“But? Why did you come back for then?” He asked him, playing a lot more confident than he felt, and feeling like an idiot for offering already.
“Because you don’t just walk away when things click.” James was simple. He really thought that. But Regulus had to make sure.
“We… click?” He asked. He was suddenly out of breath, and with every inhale he smelled James’ cologne and needed to tell him he needed him closer.
“Yeah. I heard so much about you, and now that I met you… you are everything I was told, but I want to get to know the things they don’t.” He was so special. Regulus wanted to kiss him and tell him everything he wanted to know. So he got a little bit closer.
“You are better that what I’ve been told.” He told James. The boy smiled; oh, Regulus wanted to kiss him. “So, what I’m saying is… Sirius went home with Remus and my uncle is playing poker with his mates. And between the ride and the time he gets home, we will get a little over two hours for ourselves.”
Regulus extended his hand to do a funny shake on it. James stared at his hand and back at him. Without touching it he leaned in and pressed his lips to Regulus cheek. Regulus who felt the touch and leaned into it, facing him ever so slightly, but enough for their lips to touch. They just touched. They didn’t move them or try anything else. They both waited for confirmation.
Regulus used the hand he had extended to tug at James’ neck and pull him closer. He met his lips and this time they kissed. Slow, sweet. James only let himself get touched and let Regulus led him to where he wanted to get. Regulus wanted to get him to his bed as fast as he could.
He was torn between staying there, just kissing James, because he felt so comfortable or taking his hand and leading him outside, because maybe James was not touching him per se, but he was tugging with lips and teeth. Regulus tasted the rum and felt it running in his own veins, and knew this whole situation was coming an end when James swallowed a miniscule moan that Regulus couldn’t contain and he put distance to breathe.
“Maybe we shouldn’t waste any more time.” He said moving his lips to Regulus’ ear. He was whispering.
Regulus shook his head and that set them both to stand and start walking to the door. Regulus didn’t think of his friends; well, he did briefly that’s why he sent them a quick text when he was sitting in James’ car after kissing him at the door, and on the way, and after he picked his hand to walk.
James didn’t even play music on the car and Regulus wasn’t shy. He took his boots off and got comfortable. They looked at each other for a few moments failing to hide smiles. Regulus didn’t know what to do with his hands. James started laughing. Regulus looked at him confused.
“These drives are always so stupid. I refuse to stay silent. And please touch me.” He said with humour and looked at him at a stop light, pleading. Regulus reached for his hair and leaned in to kiss him shortly. He pulled back so he could start the car again but kept his hand on his hair.
“I hate these drives. People should either take a cab or meet somewhere else.” He wasn’t uncomfortable though. “They can put you off so bad if you weren’t too convinced.”
“Right.” James said with a chuckle.
“Not right now.” Regulus defended himself quickly.
“Okay.” He responded and leaned to kiss Regulus again at a stop. He put his hand on Regulus’ leg and Regulus shivered. It was a simple touch and he kept his hand there for a few blocks since he didn’t have to make any turns, and the streets were empty. Regulus’ insides started to get hot and he could feel his pulse.
He looked at his phone to distract himself from the ever-growing shivers he was getting. Rushes of adrenaline when James made any sound at all.
“My friends are calling me all kinds of names for leaving.” He laughed. James smiled.
“I thought they were on board to make Sirius upset.”
“They are, in the name of evil. But they got worried for a second.” Regulus said shrugging.
“Yes, that was probably a bad call. We should have told them.” They were nearing Regulus neighbourhood and he started looking around for sings of Sirius or his uncle.
“Yeah, but I was more worried about getting my hands on you.” He told James without any regard for consequences. James sighed.
“We are nearly there, don’t worry.” He said. That’s when Regulus recapacitated on what he had said.
James found a parking space not far from the house. Regulus thought at the moment it was a harmless distance. He got out of the car and James followed him down the street, catching up to him from behind hugging his waist. Regulus felt his pulse again.
The house was still empty. He new it would be, but there’s always a possibility of a mistake.
“Water?” he asked James when they were in. Regulus needed it, his throat was dry and he needed the cold punch to sober up the bit he hadn’t gotten yet. James nodded, walking to the kitchen.
He didn’t know why he was making the wait longer. He poured two glasses; the house was still stuffed from the afternoon. The summer months there were always a bit unbearable, and his uncle didn’t like to have the air conditioning on most days. But that was not why he was sweating.
It was because James didn’t take his eyes of him as he gravitated towards him. Regulus was trying to hold still while he drank, posing on the counter. They were silent, but Regulus couldn’t stop smiling. James placed his glass next to him and placed himself in front of Regulus. He looked at all of him. Regulus thought that he looked hungry, for him. He would stop at places, and continue. Regulus gave up.
“What do you want, James?” James eyes flickered and changed to something darker. Regulus grabbed him at the waist and pushed him between his legs.
“You, now. I want to eat you.” Regulus sighed long, and laughed.
“Kiss me first, maybe.”
“Everything you want.”
James didn't kiss him straight away. He was close, so close. Hovering his lips, Regulus had them parted, breathing slowly. The boy was looking at him, Regulus thought he might die under his stare, melt; fall to his knees, see how weak James could be of he took him in his mouth.
"Kiss me." The plea scaped Regulus' mouth. James grinned.
"Again."
"Kiss me..." Regulus started again, he knew what James wanted. He wanted him to beg. They had to get to know each other better. Regulus finished in a more demanding voice. "Now."
James' pupils dilated to the maximum. Regulus was defying him, but he seemed to like it. He stopped playing and clashed with him, but unlike how sweet he had been at the bar and on the way to the house, this kiss tasted like a crime. It was murder, Regulus could taste the blood.
He took his own hands and put them everywhere there was skin. Up and down James' back, digging his grave with his own nails.
He broke apart from James, earning a groan and a whimper when he started kissing his neck, roughly. He wanted to go deeper.
"Your shirt is in the way." He complained. Regulus wanted to taste more of him.
"Take me to your room. I can’t take you here." Regulus wanted to be taken. He grabbed both his hands and led him up the stairs. Kept looking back at him. They walked in and in closed doors now, there was no going back.
They looked at each other smiling a minute and the other they were a mess.
They pulled clothes off each other, and threw them everywhere. They laughed when James tried to take his pants off with his shoes on and when they started kissing again, they were so brutal that they fell onto the bed.
James started working him up, torturously and skilfully using his fingers on Regulus' clit. The way he was doing it and at that pace he wouldn't last long, and he didn't want to come like this. But it was so good, and James was all over him. Hands, mouth on his body.
He tried to think between moaning James’ name and trying to hold on. Reached to his bedside table's drawer and opened it. James looked at him confused. In the movement to watch him he pressed his hips onto Regulus', he was hot and hard.
"What are you doing?" He asked breathless. Regulus wanted to grind against him so bad, but he found the condom just in time. James smiled and understood.
"Fuck me." He took it and put it on as quick as he could. He looked back at Regulus while he was positioning himself between his legs, pressing his hands on his thighs. He looked at him straight at him, Regulus started nodding, desperate. James leaned to kiss him in the same motion he got inside him, in one stroke. Regulus moaned into his mouth and he started his motions.
The rest was a blur. Regulus knew he said James' name so many times it started to sound like his breathing. James whispered so many things on Regulus ear, and Regulus knew he answered but he didn't remember what. James' words started to come out slurred and he was struggling to form sentences, Regulus started touching himself.
Things came out of their mouths, where they sound, words? Regulus remembers begging James to come inside him. Telling him he was ready. James' head fell on Regulus’ neck and said a simple: “Please.” Regulus didn't wait for him and James raised his head to look at him and came while telling him how beautiful he was, cursing and groaning. Regulus' body was shaking in pleasure.
He collapsed on top of him when he was done. Pulling out and hiding in Regulus' neck. Their breathing was coordinated. Regulus still had his legs around James and every movement he made had him whimper if it rose his clit, still sensitive.
He didn't know from or why, but a laugh came from him. He started laughing hard and James looked at him smiling at him.
"Fuck." He said between chuckles. "That was good."
James laughed as well. "It was fucking good. You feel so good."
He kept laughing even when James tried to kiss him.
"Oh, I'm sorry. It was just- fuck." James kept smiling at him, while he calmed down.
Regulus looked at him and saw something in his eyes. So sweet. He looked into them and thought to himself, I want to keep this one.
"Can I stay a while longer?" He asked Regulus innocently.
"Yes." He answered him. James nodded and slid to his side. Regulus turned. Kiss me, kiss me. James faced the ceiling smiling. I'll kiss you.
Regulus cupped his cheek and kissed him. Little pecks on his lips. James put one arm around him. Regulus kept kissing him. He didn't remember when was the last time he enjoyed kissing someone without intentions. Kiss me, kiss me. He couldn't stop thinking about it. James stopped and Regulus moved to his neck. He didn't want James to see how stupidly flushed he was.
"We should get cleaned up." He told him. You could hear the smile on his face, Regulus could feel it.
"Okay, you go first." Regulus told him. He let him go. James walked to his bathroom, and god; he was a majestic view. Regulus unmade the bed and got in. I am making you get in, and you are not leaving, he thought.
James walked out a few minutes later and looked around.
"Do you want your clothes?" He asked. Regulus nodded.
"Just my underwear."
"Right, now let's find it." He laughed. Regulus sat up and the view of his room was embarrassing. Pieces of clothing everywhere. James rummaged through some of them and looked at the desk. "Well, mine are here." He said picking his boxers from the top of Regulus' computer.
"Oh, god. We are a mess." James looked through and found what he wanted. Regulus grabbed his underwear from James (like he wasn’t in his own room and could easily pick clean ones) and walked to the bathroom.
He did his thing, peed and cleaned himself a little. Didn't mind having James waiting, he was not about to get an infection. His mascara and eyeliner were a bit smudged so he wiped it. James was sitting in the bed. He walked to him and kissed him. Regulus tried to move past him to get in the bed but James stopped him.
"You don't want me to go?"
"No James, it's okay." He said tenderly, putting a hand through his hair.
"But they'll..." James started to say.
"We'll worry about Sirius and my uncle in the morning."
"In the morning?" Regulus closed his eyes. He spoke too much. It was not like he was going to trick James into staying, bit he wanted to ask differently. "I can stay?"
His eyes were shining with anticipation. He looked sad and happy. Like he had been waiting his whole life for someone to ask him to stay. Like he had been told to go, to run. Don’t let them see you. Like he doubted his worth because of it. Regulus made a mental note to tell him how much he wanted him if this continued, to make him feel seen. He was so worth it. So he told him with careful words:
“I want you to stay. Please.” James sighed and tightened his grip around him.
“Everything you want.”
