Men don't make good friends
She left him alone in the room for a moment only to be replaced by the other man. He clearly hadn’t gone far when she made him leave, and returned upon her asking immediately. He was chuckling to himself as her walked away from her. It sent sharp sparks of rag down Sebastian’s spine.
“Where is she going?” Sebastian didn’t bother to mask his bitterness.
“She has a meeting with the minister.” Great. So she’d ran off again.
“The minister for Magic?” she’d been climbing up in the world, direct meetings with the minister. A step up from secret meeting with Professor Fig.
“yes. He took quite the shine to her it seems.”
…
He replied “Everyone does.”
“yes it seems they do.” The silence was deafening. Neither man wanted to be sat in that room, far to small for the two of them without her there to mediate. He did not know how long they were sat there, silently staring at each other. There was no clock in the room. Al sebastain could tell was it was long enough for the man standing infront of him to started shifting his weight from foot to foot, as his muscles began to ache.
“I still don’t understand why she wanted you here.”
…
“My excellent knowledge on dark curses if I remember correctly.”
“You don’t have any more knowledge then everyone else in this place.” The mans resentment ran clearly in every word. Every word tainted the boy, pushing him closer and closer to the edge.
"And how did you figure that out Officer?" It was bait, he knew it but he couldn't help himself. There was just something about him.
"Well your sisters still sick last I heard." He held eye contact the entire time, he knew exactly what he was doing.
Sebastian launched.
Thomas Rutherford, whom had no doubt gone through extensive physical training in the last 8 year, had been tackled to the ground by a man whose hands were still bond by the wrists.
Perhaps it would've been better for the Gentlemen had Sebastian's hands been frees. Instead he was repetivly hit over the head with both the boy fists. Again and again and again.
It could have gone on all day, Sebastian surely wanted it too. But as the door creaked open, in she walked.
He didn't stop, not until she was pulling him across the floor, just ad the guards had done mere hours before.
She shot him a look one could only describe as burning, yet it froze the boy in place. She knelt by her friend.
"Hey, hey. I'm here I'm back. I'm so sorry. What happend? I didn't think he could get out of the binding charm,"
"I didn't." He raised his tied hands as the girls head shot around to look back at him. Her hair, was falling out of its tight braid, framing the look of disdain she displayed.
"What did you do to him!" She didn't wait for him to answer."you're on parole from the single worse place a person can be, surrounded by people capable of killing you on the spot. And you choose to attack one of the ministry's highest ranking aurors. Are you insane. Do you want to go back there Sebastian. Because I can drag you straight back in there if that's what you're after."
" what like you did when I was 15."
"Exactly," She turned back to the injured man. His heart broke. There was no remorse in her voice. Like she didnt care at all what shed done to him. "here take this, what happened Tommy. I was gone for less than an hour." His heart broke again. She calls him Tommy. They're friends.
The man downed the potion in one, the wounds began to reverse themselves.
"I made a comment about Anne, my fault. I'm sorry. I just, he grips at me Fig." He hears her sigh.
"I know you don't want him here, I know that. But he's here now. Please don't make this harder then it already is Tommy. It's bad enough that it's come to this in the first place." She looked at him with soft eyes. Did she not hear what he said, he'd antagonised him, not the other way around. Why isn't she mad at him.
"Let's call it for tonight, huh. I'll take Mr Sallow. You can get some rest and we'll meet in the morning."
"I'm not leaving you with him, not after what he just did. Absolutely not."
"Tommy,"
"No, don't. He just attacked me. I'm not leaving you with that sweetheart." He grabbed her wrist. Sebastian, still sat in the corner of the office, flinched.
"I'll keep my wand on me at all times, he can't attack me if I don't let him."
"Fig," He began to speak
"No protests, it's happening. Go get some rest. Bring me some coffee on your way here tomorrow, Merlin Knows we're going to need it." She smiles at him sweetly, the way she used to smile at Ominis when she wanted something.
"OK. Fine, but one wrong move and he's sleeping in a holding cell you here me."
"I know, goodnight Tommy."
"Night Fig."
And with that the man had apperated out of the building.
She stood up, holding out her arm. He sat in silence refusing to move.
" We need to leave Sebastian, you can't apperate. So unless you like the sound of that holding cell. Let's go." She was angry, incredibly so. He could hear it in her voice. See it in her furrowed brow and scrunched nose and the glow in her eyes.
Without a word he took her arm. And they appeared moments later somewhere new.
