marriage and chocolates - marauders
During the third year of Hogwarts, two things were very clear:
1. James Potter has a massive crush on Lily Evans.
And two?
...if you touch Remus Lupins chocolate, you're dead! And that's not an understatement.
During the years there were lots of very obvious things but those were the two major ones if you wanted to stay alive.
Now back to the present.
It was a frosty afternoon in February when a curly black haired boy suddenly shot it from his previously tired posture.
Another boy, shorter but with longer hair looked over to his friend.
"Alright James?" Sirius asked, confused and astounded that he could look so enthusiastic in potions.
The messy haired boy turned to look at his friend, thoughts still swimming like whirlpool in his mind, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips.
"Y-yeah I'm...great!" His smirk broadened into a dashing smile, he was surprised that lily hasn't fallen for just his smile.
Sirius nodded, concerned. Throughout the last ten minutes of potions he snuck quick glances towards his direction, hoping to get at least one hint as to what he was planning. If he was planning anything.

James was planning something.
He couldn't tell Sirius, it would torment him to hurt his poor moony like this.
But, he was afraid, it was the only way to win his dear lily's hand in marriage...or at least to get her to go out with him.
As soon as the bell rang James dashed out of the classroom, excited to get his plan into action.
The other three marauders stood there in shock. He left? Without them?
Remus was the first to compose himself.
"Come on you idiots, he probably just needed the loo or something" Remus slung his book bag over his shoulder and started to walk out of the classroom, Sirius in tow like a lost puppy. Peter at the back, hoping to at least get to the common room in one piece.

As the three made their way up to their dorm and what they saw was the most horrifying thing to ever witness. Remus was in shock.
Why would his friend do this?
Why would anyone do this?
James was supposed to be by his side at all costs!
Why would James of all people betray him like this?!
Remus felt the familiar anger bubbling in his throat, his teeth clenched tightly together, his fingers clenched into fits, so tight that they turned white.
Just as he was about to yell at his so called friend he felt the familiar warmth spread though his fingers. And there he was, with that Sirius black smile.
"Come on mate, just let him explain, I'm sure that there is a perfectly good reason for this act of treason" Sirius looked back at James, his eyes brows raised.
And James stood there, arms wrapped round a very large box. Inside that box was Remus' most prised possessions.
His chocolate.

The mousy haired boy walked up to a girl who was sitting by the fire. Her red hair lit up like a sunset against the rich glow of the flame. The book in her hand was new and white, still holding that intoxicating new book smell.
"Hi Lily" Remus gloomily sat down on the couch next to the fiery red head.
"Oh hi Remus! What's up?" Lily asked, placing her bookmark between the pages before closing the book.
Remus looked pityingly at her, and silently apologised before getting straight to the point.
"Lily" Remus started "you know that James loves you right?"
Lily looked at Remus, confused that he was bringing up this subject "yes I'm aware, he practically cannot say anything else to me at this point"
Remus nodded quickly keeping on track "so will you go out with him?"
The air around the two griffindor's had fallen silent, only the crackling of the fire and the quiet chatter reminded them that time hadn't stopped completely.
Lily frowned before answering "no" But was even more confused at the Devastated expression on her friends face.
Remus was getting desperate now, he knew that James was strong to his word and he wouldn't give Remus any of his chocolate back until Lily went out with him.
"Please Lily!"
Lily was more than confused at this point "I'm sorry Remus but no"
"You don't understand what you're doing!" Remus whined like a small child.
"I'm saying no to going out with the most annoying guy in school, that's what I'm doing!" Lily was frustrated, why wouldn't this group just leave her alone.
Whilst Lily was talking Remus had decided to give up and tell her the truth, maybe he could get her to listen.
"no! He's holding my chocolate hostage until you agree to date him. Lily PLEASE!"
Lily paused at this, regained her posture and went towards the boys dormitories.

Let's just say that by the end of the night Remus was happily chopping away on his chocolate bar whilst Lily gave a good talking to James.
'Taking away someone's comfort items! How could you James potter?! You of all people should know-'
'It's not like he'd die without it is it?'
That was when the thump happened, and James walked in, holding his head, and then fell onto the bed and promptly fell asleep.
"Have a nice night everyone!" Lily beamed as she peaked round the door.
Remus shouted a muffled thank-you as the door closed.
That was an interesting night Peter had to write about in his diary before he went to sleep.
