knock on wood
Authors note before we begin:
Firstly thankyou so much for reading this book, and I really hope that you enjoy it!
Secondly, I will say that I take requests, but as it said in the description this book will be completely lemon free, that means anything to do with kinks as well.
Thankyou!
So now that we've gotten that out of the way, lets get this tape rolling people!

It wasn't a surprise that with muggle-born and half-bloods at Hogwarts, they would also bring their non magical customs along with them. Pure-bloods would get confused when their friends saluted a magpie in the gardens, when they wouldn't walk under the ladders in the greenhouse or randomly throw a grain of salt behind them during dinner. Most grasped the concept of a 'lucky penny' when their friends said the rhyme whilst handing them the disregarded coin, and even though they didn't get it completely they understood that when you break a mirror you get seven years of bad luck.
After that particular rumour spread a lot of people stayed away from their dorm mirrors in fear that if they break it, they'll have to spend the rest of their Hogwarts days in constant bad luck. Unfortunately nobody got 'Friday the 13' so that had to wait until next year when it came round again to explain a bit more.
But the one superstition that had everyone going was 'knock on wood'
Nobody really got the concept of it, and when they asked their friends with a more muggle influenced upbringing they didn't really know either, they just did it.
"It's a show of good luck I guess?"
"It to keep things from going bad when you say it"
"For instance, I'm going to pass all my exams this year, Knock on wood" The student said, tapping on their forehead with their knuckle before dashing off to the library to get some more studying crammed in.
But the two people that absolutely loved this idea was none other then the redhead pranksters, Fred and George. Whenever that they said something would work out they would knock on each other foreheads before running off to pull whatever extravagant prank that they were going to do next.
But what got this really going was the final quidditch match of the season before heading off for summer break. The Gryffindor team was up against Hufflepuff and the other house had been doing much better thanks to the new seeker this year. But despite everything, Gryffindor was still avid to win, they were going back to the dorms with the cup and a party, ready to celebrate end of exams, the house cup win, and another fantastic year at Hogwarts.
Oliver leaned in with the team, giving his best speech in hoping that it gives his teammates the satisfaction of their leader being almost certain that they would win this time.
"Alright? We are going to win this cup!" he cheered, before something came down on his head. It was hard and as soon as it disappeared the same feeling came, this time, whacking him full on the side of the head.
"Knock on Wood!" The twins cheered before running out the entrance so that their captain couldn't come after them.
It was safe to say that the Gryffindor party was as expected, students came from all over the castle to celebrate, and everyone had a brilliant last night... But a not so good morning.
But the most important thing was that 'Knock on Wood' became a tradition before a Gryffindor quidditch match. And new teammates were always informed of this by none other than the twins who started it.

'Those idiots' Oliver thought, as he got knocked lightly on his forehead three times by none other than Mr. Harry Potter himself.
