Names and a Potter
Cyrus has now relocated to his bedroom, lying on the floor, snake resting on his stomach. They've been going back and forth about names for several minutes now. He'd suggest a name, and she just didn't like it. He briefly wondered if all snakes were this picky.
"You know, you're making this really hard."
"I want a suitable name. It's not every day you get named you know." She retorts. He rolls his eyes, trying to think. He thought back to a book about mythology he read in elementary school. "How about Wepset?"
"Wepset? Where'd you get that one from?"
"She's an ancient Egyptian goddess. She's usually depicted as a snake, but in the Greek and Roman period, she's a woman with a lion's head." he tried to remember. The snake goes quiet for a moment, thinking. "Very well, it is a suitable name." Cyrus threw his arms up, celebrating. She nuzzled him affectionately.
The door opened and another snaked slithered in, Luna behind her. "Have you named her yet?" he asks as she lies down next to him. "Yes, she liked the name Sirona the most, what about you?"
"She liked the name Wepset, took a while though." She flicks her tail at him. "What's wrong?" Luna can tell that there's something on his mind, either she's good at body language, or it's her seer abilities-could be both. "Are you still thinking about Sirius?" he nods, letting out a loud sigh. "None of it makes any sense." he mumbles. "James and Sirius close as brothers, yet people say he's a death eater. Sure, people say he blew all those people up, but a spell can't be so powerful that the only thing left was a finger." He huffs, trying to piece together all the information he's received.
"Didn't dad say he was going to look into it?"
"Well, yeah, but it's still annoying me." He frowns, wanting to make sense of it all. "And what about Charlie Potter? The actual child of the Potters, where is she? Is Dumbledore really that screwed up?" he already knew the answer to that. It's yes. Dumbledore has been treating him like a weapon since first year, no more. He'd rather survive past eighteen thank you very much.
Most powerful wizard couldn't tell that Voldemort has been in the castle, yeah right.
"Have you tried meditating about it?" He shook his head. "Things might become clear if you focus." It's a good idea, and he has nothing better to do. He sits up cross legged. Luna lights an incense stick for him, sitting across from him. Their hair is tied in loose buns, so it's out of their way but not tight.
Cyrus focuses on the Maruaders. He focused on Charlie, even though he didn't know what she looked like, hoping for a clue, anything that could help and solve the many questions he has, but didn't want to pester and annoy, plus it's not like Remus or Xenophilius could actually know some of the questions.
An image appears minutes later, Ediths Little Petals is written on a sign above a green wooden door. He hears a faint Charlie Fletcher. He didn't think it'd actually work, but it did. He focused on the four Marauders a little harder, a rat crawling into a drain. He opens his eyes and makes his way over to where their father is. "Have either of you heard of Ediths Little Petals?" Remus shook his head. "Briefly. It's an orphanage." Xenophilius answers.
"We were meditating, and I had focused on Charlie. I think she's at that orphanage, going by the name of Charlie Fletcher." He informs. The two sit up straighter. "It's in Hogsmeade, let's go." Remus follows his friend, he glances at the twins before closing the door, knowing they'll be fine, hopefully anyway.
Luna and Cyrus sit in anticipation, trying to find ways to distract themselves while they wait for them to return. They start with a simple eye spy, moving to snake and ladders, exploding snap, to wizards' chess.
They hear the familiar pop of apparation. They wait for their father and uncle Moony, as Cyrus has started saying, to call them, not wanting to seem over eager and scare the girl off.
"Luna! Cyrus!" Remus yells from the lounge. They walk out, finding a girl taller than them, with short auburn frizzy hair, round glasses framing her hazel eyes and a sharp jawline. "Hello." they say, wanting to seem polite. She swallows, looking a little confused. Rightfully so, they probably took her to Gringotts where she had just discovered that her life has been a lie. "Hello." she says back, looking around the place.
"Could you two show Charlie her room please?" Cyrus isn't sure which room his father is talking about, but by the looks of it, Luna does. She leads Charlie (and Cyrus) into a slightly messy room with things stashed everywhere. "Everything will be cleaned up, don't worry about the mess." Luna says, Charlie nods, obviously feeling a little out of place. She sets her bag down on the floor.
It's lunchtime, they sit at the table, sandwiches and tea already made. Xenophilius and Remus are making light chatter. Afterwards they start cleaning up the room Charlie would be staying in, which was pretty easy. Remus sets a small bed down by the corner, unshrinking it. "We'll go back out another time so you can decorate it." Xenophilius has a hand on her shoulder.
This, is where realisation sets in. She has a family, sure, they're not her parents, but these people willingly took her in and signed the adoption papers. She wouldn't ever have to go back to the Orphanage. It was a bad place or anything, quite pleasant actually, but she didn't feel like she fit in. Here, she does. She has her own room that they're going to let her decorate. It's a nice feeling.
Cyrus hands her a book, like what his father had done to him on his birthday. She opens it. Lily and James Potter are smiling at her. She flips through it, some of the photos are just the two of them, other have James holding her, some have Lily holding her, in one photo, there's a group of them. A blond couple, the woman holding her, while Lily and James are holding the twins.
She was supposed to grow up with these people, but she didn't. In another life, she would've considered these two her siblings, maybe she will in the future, who knows? All she knows is that life is unfair.
