Guardian of courage
Being told of a new guardian, North sent Jack to track him down and bring him back to the pole. Jack quickly reached Arcadia, where he was told the soon to be newest guardian was going to show up, and landed in a tree not far from a group of the oddest mixture of beings he had ever seen.
While he watched the only girl in the group fight the troll she called Jim as well as the fight between the two adults Jack wondered which one would be chosen to be the new Guardian and what their center would be.
Feeling magic flow pass him brought Jack’s attention back to what was happening in front of him just as the troll called out the girl’s name before his body turned completely to stone. After he had turned fully to stone moonlight lit up his body causing his spirit to be pulled out of it.
As the new spirit took his first breaths Jack made his way over to him. “Who are you?” Jim questioned.
“Jack Frost and you are Jim Lake Jr. I’m here to take you to North’s. Man in the moon has chosen you to become a Guardian like myself and four others.” Jack explained.
“But my friends, I have to let them know I’m alright.” Jim sighed as he looked at Toby, his best friend and Claire, the love of his life, who were in tears, at Blinky, who became like a father to him, Arrrgh, his troll brother, and the newest members of their group, Steve, Krel, Archie and Nari.
Jack came over and rested a hand on Jim’s shoulder. “They may not be able to see you. They’ll have to believe in you to be able to see you.”
“I at least have to try. I can’t leave them like this.” Jim stated as he moved towards Toby and landed silently in front of him. “Tobes please don’t cry, I’ll be alright.”
Toby grew quiet as Jim spoke and raised his eyes upwards. “Jim?”
“Can you see me Toby?”
“Of course I can, you’re standing right in front of me.”
Jim smiled softly at his words. “I need you to look after Claire for me. I have to go somewhere for a while but I’ll be back, I promise.”
“We need to go Jim, North and the others are waiting for us.” Jack said as he took one of Jim’s arms and pulled him up with him. As he was pulled away Jim kept his gaze on Toby until he could no longer see him.
Toby sadly watched as his best friend is pulled away from them into the sky. “Return home as fast as you can Jimbo.” He whispered before he got to his feet and joined Claire at the stature that used to be his body.
“His body may be stone but his spirit is still with us.”
“I know I heard him.” Claire smiled at Toby through her tears as she took his hand. “What do you say we take his body and place it among the other Trollhunters in troll market.”
A week passes before Jim is able to return to Arcadia and each day he’s gone his friends search the sky for him, waiting for his return.
Jim isn’t even fully on the ground before he is pulled into a hug by Toby and Claire, who he joyfully hugged back. “I missed you guys so much.”
“We’ve missed you too.” Claire replied.
“Yeah man, where have you been?”
Jim chuckled as the three of them settled on the grass. “Wellll…the first place I went was the North Pole where I had to take the Guardians oath then was given a quick tour of Santa’s workshop.”
“Wait, hold up you mean to tell us that Santa Clause is real!” Toby exclaimed.
“Yeah and so is the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy, the sandman and Jack Frost. Anyway, after everything was taken care of at North’s, that’s what the others call Santa, I was invited to see Bunny’s warren and Tooth’s palace where I met the many mini versions of her. After that I spent a few hours with Sandy as he followed night, the rest of the time was spent with Jack as he moved from town to town to play with the kids. Our last stop was a town called Burgess where Jack introduced me to the first child to believe in him, Jamie.”
“What do you mean first child?” Claire asked before Toby could speak up. “Wait, you mean the eight year old boy we met on our way to New Jersey, that Jamie?”
“You remember that snowstorm we had a month before I found the amulet?” Toby and Claire nod. “Apparently Douxie was Jack’s first believer, he just never got the chance to talk to him before. And yes, that Jamie.”
“Whaaaaaat. Are you serious, that is so cool!” Toby said.
Claire and Toby jerk up as a unknown voice spoke up behind them while Jim smiled. “Thanks, glad you think I’m cool.”
“Hey Jack, didn’t expect to see you here.” Jim greeted as he stood up.
“Hey Jim. I thought I’d stop by to meet the friends you talked about while I showed you around.”
