Somewhere to go

James was always touching somebody in any way possible. Would he prefer it be Sirius? Yes, but Sirius doesn't always appreciate touch even when it comes to James.

So when Sirius ran away of course James' first thing to do was reach out and touch Sirius. But what James never accepted was for Sirius to flinch away from his touch as if he was going to hit him. "Oh, Si," James muttered as he walked him and Sirius to the couch.

James sat Sirius down and moved to head to the kitchen until Sirius reached out, "No, where are you going?"

"To get mom and dad, they'll know what to do."

"No, not yet, I just want you."

"Sirius, you have bruises, and they need to be healed."

A mumble, "I know."

James made his way upstairs to his parent's room, where they were most likely asleep. But when he walked in they were both wide awake. "Who's here?" Fleamont mumbled sleepily.

"Sirius."

"Okay."

All three of them made their way back down the stairs to find Sirius fast asleep on the couch. James doesn't think he's ever seen Sirius looking this small and he's seen Sirius go through all different types of moods. "Oh, lord." James heard his mother whisper behind him. When James looked up from Sirius he saw his father making his way back into the family room with many different potions and bandages.

"Did he tell you what happened?" Fleamont questioned.

"No, he just came to the door crying and he flinched away when I tried to touch him. So I brought him to the couch."

"Okay," Euphemia muttered mostly to herself. James' parents started healing Sirius' bruises and cuts. When they finally finished, Euphemia turned to James and asked, " Is he gonna stay in your room with you?"

"Of course, where else?"

"I'm just making sure, he may not want to."

"Well, he is. He's gonna need to be around someone familiar."

"Okay, Sweetheart, well me and your father are gonna be in our room if you need anything at all."

"Okay," James said quietly under his breath, more to himself than his parents. When he looked up his parents were retreating upstairs. James looked back down at Sirius. "Hey, baby, let's go upstairs."

"No, let's stay down here."

"It's not good for you"

"Okay, then let's go."

"Can you stand?" James asked. Sirius nodded shakily, trying to pull himself to his feet.

As soon as Sirius managed to get upright on his feet, his knees buckled. James caught him before he hit the ground. "Hey, hey I got you. I got you."

"I'm sorry," Sirius said through sniffles.

"I-I.... ugh, I don't know why Im crying." James had never heard Sirius sound this defeat before.

"Love it's fine, it's okay, there's nothing wrong with being sad Sirius."

"I'm n-not weak," Sirius gasped weakly. "I've had way worse."

"Hey hey, It's okay, baby. I'm right here."

"O-okay, can we go to bed now?"

"Of course." Sirius and James made their way up to James' room, well now James' and Sirius' room now. James tried his best not to reach out and touch Sirius in any way.

James may love touching people. It calmed him down and kept him from jumping off the walls, just making sure he keeps himself grounded. But he doesn’t ever want to see the look that was on Sirius’ face when he reached out the first time.

"I can hear your thinking," Sirius joked with a bit of humor in his voice that immediately brought a small smile to James' face. James knew it would take time for Sirius to get better and he doesn't even know what happened. Well, he kind of knows the just of what happened and that's all that matters in the long run. Because James could know nothing in the world but that whatever happened this was absolutely Walburga Black's fault.

And maybe Orion had a little bit to do with it, but the only thing he ever really does is sit back and watch. Which is just as bad as doing the actual hitting.

James never understood how someone could do such a thing to their own blood, but it's been running in the Blacks for years so there was nothing he could do about it. Expect to be here for Sirius and help him through the problems.

"James, stop thinking so much. I'm okay."  James hated that Sirius was trying to reassure him when Sirius was the one in pain and needed reassurance.

" You don't look okay," James said automatically. Wincing as soon as his brain caught up with his mouth. "God, Si I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that."

"It's okay."

"No, it's not."

"James, you're right. I'm not okay but I just wanna be here with you because you're all that matters to me right now. And I need that, so I need you. "

"Okay, yeah I can do that," James replied calmly. Walking closer to Sirius he raised his hand lightly bringing it closer to Sirius' face then pulled his hand away.

"Can I touch you?"

"Of course, you can." James brought his hand back up to Sirius' face and hesitated a little before he lightly touched Sirius's face.

James reached down and pressed a light kiss to Sirius' lip. " I love you, you know?"

"Of course, it's what keeps me going most times," Sirius muttered a little lovesick if you ask James but Sirius would probably deny it. But James knew Sirius better than anyone in this world.

They basically shared a brain. Moony always said they shared the same brain cell that they passed back and forth. James feels like Remus definitely meant it as an insult but he was gonna take it as a further symbol of their love. Call him naive if you wish but he's perfectly fine with it.

That's something about James that he should probably be embarrassed about but really he's not. How is he supposed to be embarrassed when he is the lucky guy that gets to love Sirius Black? Not only love him but be loved by him in return.

"You're doing it again." James snapped out of his lovesick daze and replied confused "Doing what?"

"Letting your thoughts take over your brain."

"Well, it just happens when I think about you."

"It happens all the time."

"That's because I'm always thinking of you," James watched with a satisfied smile on his face as Sirius' face turned a shade of bright red. "Shut up," he mumbled, embarrassed.

"I love you and I'm always gonna be here. I'm not gonna pressure you to talk but you always can, and I really just need you to know that."

"Yeah, I know. And I love you too Jamie."

Right here at this moment wrapped up in James' arms Sirius felt safe like he always does when he's with James. Sirius is sure he can be in terrible danger but as long as James is close by he'll feel safe and loved. And he knows James will never judge him and he'll be here when Sirius decides he wants to stop asking fine and stop acting like everything is fine. That's why Sirius knew this was the perfect place to come when he needed somewhere to go.
