George studying?
“Well yeah? He offered to study with me since you weren’t.” Lirum explained watching waves of confusion wash over Percy’s face.
“George offered to study?” Percy asked, bewildered.
“For Lirum, yes.” George cut in stealing Percy’s attention.
“No.” Percy said plainly, shaking his head.
“What do you mean no?” The fifth years asked together.
“Are you ok? Is this the effects of a love potion? Or an experiment gone wrong? What is happening?” He asked in disbelief.
“No, but the person I am in a relationship with was worried about their grades. So I, being a good boyfriend, stepped up to help them.” George argued, being quite passive aggressive towards his brother.
“I mean that you don’t study! You’ve never studied! I’ve tried so hard to get you to study! So I’m sorry if it’s more than a little concerning to find you in the library doing something completely out of character!” Percy ranted. “What’s in it for you? There has to be something in it for you, that’s the only way.”
“My partners happiness and well-being.” George answered matter of factly.
“That can’t be it. Lirum, why is he really doing this?” Percy asked, turning to the mint haired fifth year.
“He wants me to come to his quidditch matches.” Lirum said, already tired of the brothers arguing.
“It’s not just that Lirum! I really-” George pleaded, but Lirum cut him off
“He also wanted me to forgive him for the party.” They added, unamused.
“That makes more sense, of course he does.” Percy huffed. “And you passed up studying with me, for this?”
“Yeah, because you’ve been an arse, all year. Oh yeah, and last year, and the year before that. You’ve ignored my opinions, and personal boundaries virtually the whole time we’ve known each other.” Lirum huffed. This being the far too many-ith time they’ve explained that to him.
“I thought you were forgiving me, and we were trying again!” Percy asked, shocked.
“I am forgiving you for being an arse, but I’m not forgetting what you’ve done. You asked for another chance, and I am giving you one, but it’s not a get out of jail free card. You actually have to show that your trying to change. You were nice to me for one conversation and then immediately became snappy with my friend! All because you think he likes me! Then came in here acting entitled to answers from me and George about what was happening and now, my time and how you believe I should be spending it.” Lirum answered, plainly.
“Did I…” George mumbled to himself watching the prefects quarrel. “Did I get off easy?”
“You’re not out of the woods yet either.” Lirum snapped, turning to their boyfriend. “You’re on thin ice, remember that.
“I shouldn’t have said anything.” He said, regretting his words immediately, earning a glare from Lirum.
“I’m sorry I just- I would honestly rather find you with the Slytherin. This…this is just Bizarre?” Percy mumbled, looking at his brother actually holding a textbook.
“What is that even supposed to mean?” Lirum questioned, watching Percy slowly unravel. “You’re not making this better for yourself!”
“You have to understand how weird this is right? George, as in George Fabian Weasley, trouble from the day he was born, is willingly in the library studying. With you, Lirum Ollivander, the good, smart, shy little Ravenclaw.” Percy explained slowly. “You see why that’s off putting right?”
“I didn’t believe it when he first offered either.” Lirum laughed, before realising they haven’t actually done much studying. Then realising he was typecasting them as just a Ravenclaw again. “Little ravenclaw? Really?”
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to, I'm just-Are you going to keep…doing…” He asked, gesturing towards his brother “this?”
“What are you going to do? Tell mum I’m studying?” George asked, shutting his book.
“You’re right…I should be…” Percy paused. “Happy?”
“Well, go be cryptically happy somewhere else we have to study, or they might just break up with me.” George said, shooing his brother off.
“Yeah, I guess that- that makes sense. I should go… lie down, I think.” Percy said, before awkwardly shuffling his way back out of the library. “Bed, I should go to bed.”
“Is he alright?” Lirum asked, watching the Head Boy retreat.
“George? Studying? No. Lirum quidditch? Maybe?” The pair heard Percy mumbling as he disappeared.
“I’m gonna say no?” George joked, looking back at them. “I’m sure he’ll figure it out.”
“That was…awkward.” Lirum sighed looking back at George.
“Percy makes everything awkward.” He huffed. “Now where were we? Astronomy, right?”
“Yeah, that’s a good place to start.” Lirum answered, looking at their notes from Thursday night. “We have an essay due on the seventy four moons of Jupiter?”
“I thought it was seventy nine?” George asked curiously.
“Oh god that’s supposed to be a nine!” Lirum gasped, scrambling to fix their notes.
“Why do you right your fours and your nines so similar?” George asked, looking over at their parchment.
“I’m writing in ink! On parchment paper! It’s not like I can help it! I can’t really correct my mistakes unless I charm them, but then I’ll get in trouble for charming my notes!” Lirum defended themself, trying to hide there parchment from George’s playful teasing.
“There’s nothing wrong with a little trouble. You could meet me and Fred in detention after.” George chuckled.
“I’m a prefect!” Lirum snapped.
“You also throw parties in your dorm, remember?” George teased, grinning.
“Oh you little- I’m adding learn the unforgettables back to my to-do list!” Lirum threatened, grabbing another roll of parchment out of their bag. They unrolled it, and scribbling learn unforgivables on it before stuffing it back in there bag. While George sat laughing.
“How many times have you added that on there and scribbled it out later after you cooled off.” He chuckled, looking at their long list.
“Too many.” They laughed, together.
“Alright, so moons?” George suggested flipping through his text book.
“There’s definitely a lot of them.” Lirum joked, unsure of where to start. “Um, Do you remember any of them?”
“Ok it’s clear you have no idea the base level of what I know. The Galilean moons are the four largest moons Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto in order of distance from the planet. All of which are large enough to be considered major plants if they orbited the sun instead of Jupiter.” He answered, plainly. “The rest are irregular satellites that orbit in retrograde, most of which remain unnamed.”
“Can I be honest for a moment?” Lirum asked, looking back up at him from their book.
“You thought I’ve never paid attention in class?” George asked, while Lirum nodded shamefully.
“Don’t worry, that’s on purpose.” He laughed, watching their expressions.
“Why?” They asked, stunned. “Why would you go out of your way to make people think you’re not smart?”
“People set expectations too high when they ‘see your potential’” He explained, shrugging. “That’s the reason you hate being a Ravenclaw isn’t it?” The ridiculous standards people put on you.”
“Yeah, actually. I didn’t realise you’d actually noticed.” Lirum said, shyly.
“Of course I noticed, It’s you. I know you like to pretend to be invisible, but some people can’t miss you.” He flashed a smile, flirting again.
“Can’t miss me?” They asked, skeptically.
“You’re pretty hard to miss.” He flirted, again.
“I think that’s enough flirting. It’s time for studying.” Lirum shrugged. “Unless you don’t want me to come to your quidditch game.”
“I guess it’s study time then.” George shrugged.
Some time passed as the two took turns picking out helpful information for their essays. The mood subtly shifted as they began playfully flirting or occasionally teasing. Until they heard someone storming into the library.
“Whit are ye doin ye idjit?!” Oliver wood came screaming through the library snatching George from his seat. “We’ve got practice! It’s Slytherin V Gryffindor in less than a week!”
“Did your accent somehow become thicker?!” Lirum questioned, confused. They hadn’t thought it could get any more Scottish. “How is that even possible?”
“It happens when he’s angry.” George said, trying to pull himself out of Woods grip. “Alright mate I get it! Calm down! I told you I had homework!”
“You’ve nere a care before! Don’t start noe!” Wood said, dragging him towards the door. “We’ve gou a cup te win! Oor last chance now or niver!”
“Percy would have a stroke if he heard you.” Lirum joked, watching the seventh year quidditch captain drag their boyfriend toward the doors.
“He’s already haven one!” Wood snapped back. “The sicht o this idjit actually studyin did him in, I’d say! Got oor room reakin o burnt toast!”
“I feel like I should be surprised, but I’m not.” Lirum mumbled to themself. “See you later I guess.”
“Wait! Will you come to the game for me?” George asked, fighting against Olivers pulling.
“Oh, uh I guess? You did hold up your end of the deal” Lirum answered , as the Gryffindors disappeared. “Back to studying alone I guess? They're all so weird! Why are they all so weird? None of them make sense? I thought ravenclaw was supposed to be the weird house.”
