Im gonna be

Lirum stood outside the library for a moment alone. They were crying again anger and hurt and betrayal swirled together. They’d wasted so much time on a boy who’d told them he wasn’t interested. They convinced themself he had to. They believed the stupid things he said knowing his actions always told a different story. They didn’t want to go back to their dorm room where they’d stare at the ceiling for hours, thinking about what happened. They wanted to be happy. To sing and dance to stupid muggle songs with their best friend, and know there was no judgment for not knowing to words or singing in the wrong key.

But they didn’t know where he was, or if he was meant to be out patrolling. So they’d go back alone. They turned to leave and saw it. Two heads of Ginger hair darting towards them. They came, they always did.

“What’s wrong? What happened?” Fred asked almost there.

“Percy-“ They sniffing reaching out for him, his face turned red as he brushed past them into the library. Of course he did. They needed someone to be there and the boy who claimed to be in love with them was always the first to go starting a fight when they needed him.

“Are you alright?” George asked, slowing down to stop right in front of them. Lirum threw their arms around him and pulled him close.

“Thank you.” They whispered, resting their head in the cook of his neck.

“I haven’t done anything yet?” He teased, bringing his arms to wrap around them.

“Are you busy?” Lirum asked timidly.

“I’m never to busy for you.” He answered, rubbing small circles on their back.

“Can we go find Cedric?” They sniffled trying to calm themselves back down.

“Cedric?” George asked skeptically.

“He’s one of my best friends…I just want to have some fun together. We can all go listen to some muggle music and make stupid inappropriate jokes.” Lirum explained hoping George wouldn’t push back.

“Do you promise not to tell Fred?” George asked.

“Me tell Fred? He could’ve joined if he actually stayed instead of running off to have a dick measuring contest with Percy.” George chuckled.

“I guess I’ll count myself lucky then, for staying.” He smiled warmly at them. “Let’s go find your friend then.”

He reached inside his robe pocket with one hand to pull out a familiar folded up piece of parchment. The marauders map.

“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.” He said tapping his wand on the parchment. It revealed the map of the whole school. He held it between them as Lirum picked themself up of his shoulder.

“By the looks of it he’s on the fifth floor in muggle study’s, that’s perfect actually.” Lirum mumbled.

“How’s that perfect? You didn’t sound sarcastic.” George asked.

“The entrance to the ravenclaw common room is on the fifth floor. We should be able to get there before most of the ravenclaws make it back.” Lirum explained, looking up at him hopefully. “Sneak you right up.”

“We’re going into the ravenclaw common room?” George asked confused. “How are we going to get in?”

“Me and Cedric came up with the idea of using the disillusionment charm.” Lirum suggested, looking at him for approval.

“The what?” Lirum couldn’t help but laugh

“Did anyone else do the reading Flitwick assigned?” They joked, pulling away slightly still holding onto his arm.

“Roger Davies maybe he seems like a nerd.” George teased earning a playful smack from Lirum. They couldn’t help but admit he was making them feel better already. “Why were you and Cedric discussing how to sneak someone into your common room?”

“Where else did you think we listened to muggle music?” Lirum said, finally pulling fully away from him.

“And your dorm mates are just fine with it?” George asked eyebrows cocked.

“That’s…a bit complicated.” They started, awkwardly. “I don’t have any dorm mates, or at least not in my room.”

“Why Not?” He still hadn’t put it together.

“I room alone due to me nature as a metamorphmagus.” Lirum explained, gesturing awkwardly to themselves. “The closest dorm mates are below me and with a little silencing charm they’re none the wiser.”

“That actually makes. I never thought about who you’d room with before.” He said genuinely, and a little remorseful. Then was stuck with sudden realisation. “Wait how do you know for sure.”

“We do it every year?” Lirum answered matter of factly.

“You What?” He said, shocked.

“Tonks snuck me into Hufflepuff common room third year, then Cedric snuck into Ravenclaw last year. My rooms the most private so we were gonna go. Do you not wanna come?” They were suddenly worried. They hadn’t thought about if he decided he didn’t want to go anymore.

“Of course I’m coming. I’m just a bit shocked.” He said, straightening up. “I’ve never pictured you as a rule breaker before. Well, except your late night trips to the library.”

“Oh hush and let’s get Cedric before I change my mind on letting you spend the night!” Lirum said grabbing his hand and dragging him behind them towards the stairs.

“Y-You let him stay the night?!” George sputtered out.

“Do you not want to stay the night?” Lirum teased, looking back at him.

“I-I mean yes, I-“ He’d turned red, and even if they were upset about everything that had happened they were happy they were here now.

“Then follow.” They said, pulling him up the stairs after them. There were no more complaints on the way up.

“He’s getting out of class now.” George said looking at the map in his free hand.

“He should be outside Flitwick’s right? Just down the hall.” Lirum said, guiding him.

“Yes.” He answered looking up to see the tall brunette standing at the end of the hall, talking to Cho. “Lirum, over there!”

“Cedric!” Lirum called out darting down the hall with George in tow. “It’s time.”

“It’s time?” Cedric said confused looking at the odd pair approaching. “Oh! It’s time! I’m sorry, Cho I really need to get going.”

“I thought you said you’ve only done this a few times. He just knows what ‘it’s time’ means?” George sassed.

“We talked about it in Care of magical creatures, and Herbology. They needed a brake, and you’re welcome by the way!” Cedric teased, George looked at him incredulously.

“Cedric! It’s not a date! You’re literally going to be there!” Lirum snapped, feeling their ears turn pink.

“I’m just a a chaperone to make sure you kids don’t get to naughty.” He laughed, leading the way. Sauntering back towards the Ravenclaw common room.

“I hate you you know that.” Lirum said, feeling awfully embarrassed.

“You love me and you know it.” Cedric corrected, looking back at them with a wicked smile. “It’s a pity I’m straight really, we could’ve been so good together.”

“You’re only saying this stuff because George is here aren’t you!” Lirum snapped.

“It’s alright, I’m not listening to him. In one ear out the other.” George reassured them, as they climbed up the spiral staircase. “We should cast the charm now right?”

“Yeah right before we get to the top, before anyone sees the two of you.” Lirum answered, stopping to try their best to teach them. Thinking back it probably would’ve been easier to make a potion. “Now let’s go.”

Lirum stepped in front of the door and the knocker came to life. “What separates Kings from Tyrant’s?.”

“The mercy they give.” The door opened, and Lirum lead the way to their dorm room. Once inside the boys cast the counter charm and Lirum the silencing charm.

“I hate to admit it but your common room is actually really pretty minus all the bookshelves that make it feel like a library.” George said, looking around the room. While Lirum dug through the draws under their bed to pull out the stereo they’d hidden in the deep draws under a few robes.

“Ah, I’ve got it!” They said dragging it and the bulky black binder case full of the cds they’d managed to acquire over the last three years. “Ok now some of these are old, because I got them from a second hand shop on London, but we’ve got options.”

“Wicked! I see you’ve grown your collection.” Cedric said sliding into the floor next to them.

“I tried to. We can only listen to girls just wanna have fun so many times Cedric!” Lirum teased flipping through the book pulling out a few. “Ok these are my favorites I found I’ve the summer. I wrote the track number on the case for which ones where the best.”

“How does it work?” George said eyeing the several brightly coloured discs. “5-Super freak, 2-Girls Just Wanna have fun, 1-I Wanna Dance with somebody?”

“We put the disc in the top and it plays music, then we skip to that number, to hear that song. I listened and picked my favourites already.” Lirum said nervous. “Did you wanna pick one first?”

“Is this what I think it is?!” Cedric said grabbing a perticular disc. “Oh we’ve gotta do this!”

He threw open the top of the stereo and gently placed the disc in despite how giddy he was.

“What song is it You’re so exited about?” Lirum asked watching their friend practically dance on his tippy toes waiting for the music to start.

“When I wake up.” It started, Lirum knew exactly what song it was. “Well, I know I’m gonna be. I’m gonna be the man who wakes up next to you.”

“Dance with me please?! I know you know it!” Lirum took the hand he was waving at him.

“When I go out, yeah, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you” Cedric sang pulling Lirum next to him skipping around like an idiot.

“If I get drunk, well, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you”

“And If I haver, hey, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you”

“Why does it sound like wood?” George asked with a bizarre expression.

“Oh it’s about to get so much worse!” Lirum joked singing in time with Cedric joining him in his awful dancing

“But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door” They marched around cheering.

“Come on join us!” Lirum said waving George in.

“When I'm working, yes, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money, comes in for the work I do
You are pass almost every penny on to you”

“I don’t know the words!” George said, watching them.

“When I come home (when I come home), oh, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you”

“Follow the pattern mate it’s easy!” Cedric said grabbing him and pulling him up off the floor swimming him along with the prefects.

“And if I grow old, well, I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you”

“It’s time for the Oliver bit.” Lirum whispered to him.
“But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door.”

“Now just echo back what I say!” Cedric said taking the lead.

“Da-da, da-da!” He cheered.

Da-da, da-da! Lirum And George followed together.

“Da-da, da-da!”

“Da-da, da-da!”

“All at once now!” He cheered.

“Da-da-da, lie, da-da-lie, Da-da-lie, da-da-lie da-da!”

The three idiots danced and sang together until the song faded out and the three were out of breath panting and laughing.
“That’s quite fun actually!” George said throwing an arm around Lirum’s should.

“Why do you think we risk sneaking around.” Lirum teased dragging him back towards the cds so he could pick his song. “No goofy old wizard music here where you have to use a gramophone for!”
