A Brother?
When Sirius looked at his phone the next morning after the show to see the missed calls and texts, he immediately texts back.
(Regulus and Sirius)
Sirius: Hey Reggie!
Reggie: Hi
Sirius: Sorry I missed your texts and calls. My phone died in the middle of the show.
Reggie: Its fine
Sirius: Soooooo don’t leave me hanging….how did you like your first show of ours!?!??
Reggie: You were great, Marlene and Peter were pretty good.
Reggie: But, James? I don’t even know why he’s in the band. He needs to brush up on his vocals.
Sirius: REG?! WDYM?
Sirius: I never understood why you don’t like him.
Reggie: What’s there to like?
Sirius: What did he ever do to you🤨🤨
Reggie: Nothing really. Just don’t like him.
Sirius: UGHHH YOURE SO DIFFICULT
(The Marauders)
Prongs: ……
Wormy: what?!??
Marls: James what did you do….
Prongs: I think I’m in love.
Pads: WHAT?!???!!!!
Prongs: Ok so yesterday when I went to give medicine to my mom for her headache before the show
Prongs: I bumped into this guy in the hallway
Prongs: and he was so hot and mean to me and was basically the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen
Marls: mean to you?🤨
Prongs: yes… omg😫
Wormy: bro?😨
Pads: HEY!?!???
Pads: I THOUGHT I WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PERSON YOU’VE EVER SEEN?!??!!??!

Prongs: Anyways, I did some digging and found his instagram somehow. This is what he looks like
Prongs: *sends photo*
Pads: ………..

Prongs: Sirius, what???
Pads: James Fleamont Potter.
Wormy: oh damn. Ummmm😟😟😟😟
Pads: that’s my little brother, you idiot.
Marls: WHAT

Prongs: WHAT
Prongs: YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU HAD A BROTHER WTF?
Pads: I didn’t think it was important.
Wormy: Ain’t no way he just said that🤨
Prongs: WHY WOULDN’T IT BE IMPORTANT??
Pads: IDK
Marls: bro has issues.
Prongs: we’ve literally been best friends for almost 5 years and you didn’t think to mention you had a brother?
Pads: Well I didn’t see a point.
Pads: He was never gonna meet you guys because he lives in France 99% of the time.
Marls: still would’ve been nice to know
Prongs: Do you guys still talk?
Pads: Yeah, we talk practically everyday actually. We always have, he just doesn’t come to America.
Pads: Well actually, scratch that. Now he lives in America. But before I used to go and visit him sometimes in France.
Prongs: Well when you said you were “visiting family” in France you could’ve specified which family member 😃
Pads: Well you never asked😙
Pads: You just assumed it was my uncle
Prongs: YEAH BECAUSE THATS YOUR ONLY NORMAL FAMILY MEMBER
Marls: 💀
Wormy: Ok, well now that everything is out in the open….
Wormy: Lets get back to James having a crush on your brother
Wormy: Sirius… thoughts 🎤
Prongs: Oh yeah……um your brother is super hot.
Pads: …
Marls: James…. Run.
(Regulus and Sirius)
Sirius: Sooooo…
Reggie: What?
Sirius: When were you gonna mention you met James?
Reggie: I didn’t.
Sirius: He just told me he met you
Reggie: Yeah, well he’s a liar…. so?
Sirius: bro what?
Reggie: I didn’t meet him by choice, he bumped into me.
Sirius: But, you still talked to him
Sirius: So that means you met him.
Reggie: I guess.
Sirius: Oh well, he said he likes you and you seem nice.
Reggie: You’re a fucking liar. He did not say I was nice
Sirius: Yeah you’re right😭😭

Regulus had to pause for a minute before texting Sirius back. James said he liked him? That can’t be true.
Regulus stared at the text again, and read it in his head.
“Oh well, he said he likes you and you seem nice.”
Regulus paused again and took a deep breath. Get ahold of yourself, Regulus. He doesn’t like you, no one ever could. Stop kidding yourself.
He heard his mothers voice in the back of his mind, and started shaking. Regulus jumped when the door opened, staring with wide eyes.
“Hey, are you okay?” Remus asked walking up to Regulus.
“Um, yeah. Why?”
“Well, it looks like you’ve just seen a ghost.” Remus chuckled.
“Yeah, it was you. You need some LA sun, Lupin.”
“Oh, shut it. You’re paler than me?”
“Yeah, whatever.” Regulus got up and headed to the bathroom as Remus followed.
“Lily and Dorcas wanna go out today.” Remus informed Regulus.
“What? Do they not know we just got back from a concert!” Regulus looked up from the sink.
“I know, I tried to tell them. But, they wouldn’t take no for an answer. They wanna hit the town, go out for lunch. Blah, blah, blah.”
“Oh, Reggie!” Dorcas called from outside the door.
“The answer is no, Cas.” Regulus walked out of the bathroom to face her.
“Please, Reggie! We haven’t been out as a group in forever.” Dorcas whined. Lily then came up behind her and made a pouting face, and Dorcas followed. Regulus looked at Remus who also had the same pout plastered on his face.
Traitor, Regulus thought.
He looked around again at all three of them. It wouldn’t be a bad idea per say, he needed to get his mind off a certain someone, and what better way to do it, then to go out with his best friends.
Regulus looked at them one more time, pouts still on their faces. God they don’t quit, do they?
“Fine.” Regulus uttered.
“Yay! The gang is back!” Dorcas yelled.
They head out of the house a few minutes later after Regulus gets dressed for the day. Regulus is extremely tired along with Remus, and just wants to get today over with.
He loves Lily and Dorcas, he really does but he cannot do this today. After his very unfortunate realization of certain feelings yesterday, he didn’t know how to react and so he just didn’t. He’s just been avoiding his feelings because that’s what he does best.
“Okay, so I was thinking we could go get coffee first, then maybe go to a bookstore or two and then get lunch!” Dorcas said while they were walking down the street.
“Sounds good to me.” Lily agreed.
“Me too!” Remus said.
“Yeah, that sounds good. I need some tea if I’m going to deal with you guys today.” Regulus responded while rubbing his head.
“You love us, stop being bitter.” Lily said, playfully bumping Regulus’, making him smile.
They stumbled upon a little coffee shop that looked beautiful inside. The place had books stacked ontop of shelves, and had cute little booths in the back of the cafe.
The place smelt like coffee and lavender along with a strong vanilla scent. The place itself looked very vintage, displaying old but pretty wallpaper, old diner bar seating, and many ripped up books on shelves. But, Regulus loved it.
Lily and Dorcas looked around and spoke about how pretty and inviting the coffee shop was. Remus agreed and he announced he loved the books in the corner as well.
Regulus and Remus both were avid readers, and loved to lay down with a good book in hand. They loved all types of genres; poetry, fiction, non-fiction, historical, art, cultural, realistic fiction. Didn’t matter, they would read any book you gave them.
All four of them walked up to the counter and ordered. Lily ordered an iced coffee with almond milk and cold foam, Dorcas ordered an iced coffee with oat milk and three sugars, and Remus and Regulus ordered plain, old, regular tea.
“I can’t believe you don’t like coffee, Reggie. Coffee makes the world go ‘round.” Dorcas spoke while guiding them all out of the coffee shop, as soon as they got their drinks.
“I don’t know, Cas. Just never really liked it I guess.”
“And, what about you, old man?” Dorcas turned her head to Remus.
Remus laughed and said, “My parents used to give me tea growing up, so I never really got the chance to try coffee. I don’t think I’d like it very much, anyways.” Dorcas nodded in response.
“Oh my god, Lily look! That boutique we love!” Dorcas pointed down the street and all four of them looked. Dorcas and Lily practically took off running.
As Remus turned his head to see where Dorcas and Lily were running too, he caught a glimpse of someone oddly familiar that he’s sworn he’s seen before. Remus squints and then it hits him.
He whipped his head back to face Regulus and whispered, “Reg, don’t freak out but I see your brother and James across the street.”
Regulus grits through his teeth, “What? Where?”
Regulus looked where Remus was subtly pointing and he mouthed, “This is literally my worst nightmare.”
“You and me both.” Remus agreed.
“Reggie! Regulus Black! Regulus!” He heard his name being yelled from across the street and in that moment, he wanted the world to swallow him whole.
“Oh shit, they’re coming over. I feel faint.” Remus whispered-yelled frantically.
“Okay, okay. Just act normal. Do not act like a fangirl in front of my brother, please!” Regulus whispered back.
“I can’t make any promises.”Remus nudged Regulus’ arm and looked back up to see thee members of The Marauders band walking up to them. Remus would have never thought he would ever see Sirius in person, let alone be standing five feet away from him.
“Hey, Reggie! Why didn’t you tell me you were out today? We could’ve met up!” Sirius spoke with a pout on his face.
“Figured you were busy.” He shrugged.
Sirius’ eyes moved over to the man standing next to Regulus and looked at him hard. The first thing he noticed were his constellation freckled cheeks, and fluffy brown hair. Sirius looked at him up and down and then into his eyes, while Remus’ attention was glued on Sirius the entire time.
Regulus felt a little bit of awkward silence and took the hint to introduce Remus to him. “Um, so this is my best friend, Remus.”
“Nice to meet you, Remus!” Sirius grinned widely and reached for Remus’ hand to shake. Remus happily put his hand out, shaking Sirius Black’s hand. He has to pinch himself.
“It’s very nice to meet you as well. I know a lot about you.” Remus back tracked his words and stumbled over them, “I mean like, not because I specifically know things about you, that made me sound like a stalker. I’m not obsessed with you or anything. I just um mean like um-“ Sirius smiled looking at him more humorous this time, tilting his head. “I just mean that I know things about you from, Regulus. He speaks very highly of you.”
Sirius pulled his wide smile away from Remus to Regulus, “Awww, Reggie! I knew you loved me!” He says pulling him into a hug.
“Yeah, yeah.” Regulus gritted out as he was pushing him away.
“Oh, how rude of me! Remus, this is, James Potter. He is my best friend as well!” Sirius spoke pulling away from the hug and gesturing to James.
James who was standing right beside Sirius, like a lost little puppy, waved to Remus. He has been awfully quiet since they came up to Regulus and Remus.
“Nice to meet you, Remus.” James spoke. “And, um it’s really nice to see you again, Regulus.” James smiled looking into Regulus’ eyes.
“Well, that’s too bad. I can’t say the same.” Regulus shrugged and stared him dead in the eyes. James stared back at Regulus, not breaking eye contact. Now, Regulus had a clear view of his face and could see the way James’ face was turning red, fast.
“Well, we better get going. We got plans today.” Regulus spoke, yet not breaking eye contact with James. “Plus, the paparazzi is starting to notice you guys.”
He began to walk away, as Remus followed and just before he was out of sight, he swore he saw Sirius do a double take at Remus.
