The Unforgivable Curses
When it comes to the Dark arts the very first thing most people think of is the 3 Unforgivable Curses.
The Killing Curse, The Cruciatus Curse, and The Imperius Curse.
Their origins however of their books are extremely incorrectly written due to translation errors and propaganda throughout the many centuries of magic. Since this has happened I am going to give you the original Intense of the spell, Its true origins, and the effect these spells truly have.
The first curse all be going over is the Killing Curse, To cast the spell you must say Avada Kedavra and make a lightning bolt-like shape with your wand in the same type of direction as an 'S'. To be able to successfully cast the spell you must have the intent to kill the person or thing you are casting this spell on.
Something to know is that you do not need harmful intentions to cast the spell, you only have the will to end their life. An interesting side effect of the spell is that if you cast it with harmful intentions It can be quite easy to fracture your soul, this is due to the way the spell was crafted in the first place.
This spell was originally crafted in the Middle Ages as a way to end someone's life peacefully and calmly rather than them dying in agony due to sickness or other causes. The way the spell achieves this effect is by ripping out the soul of the person or thing you cast the spell on, however, because soul magic is very volatile if you try to cast soul magic for not what it was originally intended for can have consequences.
The consequences of casting the Killing Curse with the intent to harm can cause the soul of the caster damage and even fracture depending on how innocent the victim is in the scenario as it goes completely against the original use of the spell.
The second curse I'll be going over is the Cruciatus curse. To cast the spell you must simply point at your target and say Crucio. To be able to successfully cast the spell you must have the intent to inflict pain to the target as much as possible.
Unlike the Killing Curse this spell was only designed to torture and hurt but an interesting thing is that this spell was originally meant to be designed as the ultimate Counter Curse. The way the spell was created is unlike any other spell, This was because in simpler terms making a new spell is like weaving a series of strings together to create a complicated pattern.
Then it comes to the case of the Cruciatus Curse however it has no pattern and is more like a ball of string that is twisted and knotted together. It was theorized that this type of spell would knot up other spells stopping them completely and there are even older theories that this was originally meant Counter Curse for the Killing Curse.
At some point in time this research was stopped and deemed a failure however shortly after was repurposed as a Torturing Curse, it is unknown who repurposed the spell and how much of the spell is its original self compared to now.
The last curse I will be going over is the Imperius Curse, To cast the spell you must simply point at your target and say Imperio . Unlike the Killing Curse and the Cruciatus Curse, you do not need any will to cast a spell but to be able to maintain the spell you must have a higher will than the target you controlling with the spell.
When it comes to the origins of the spell it is exactly designed the way it is now it was and there is no unique information that I have managed to find, there are only two pieces of information that I have managed to find that can hold some importance to the spell. There are theories that its first use was on a king to control their gain their wealth and position but these not a lot of information, I'll try to see if I can find some more information at some point.
The only other interesting thing I've managed to find about the spell is that although it was designed to control someone's mind there are theories that the spell could potentially be repurposed as a way to calm someone down and help clear their mind but see as there are potions that can help relax the mind I don't see a spell like this being created any time soon.
