a liar and a spy
And just like that they woke up in bed next to each other, in this world full of worries and all the scary things, they felt safe in each other's arms. Regulus pulled away first and by that he woke James up too.
"Sorry didn't mean to wake you up" Regulus says softly and James just smiles innocently.
"It's okay" He says after a minute of staring at Regulus curled up on the edge of the bed again. "You okay?" James asks with a little sad smile on his face .
"Yeah I just- just needed space for a second, is it okay?" Regulus asks and he don't even know why because he knows it's okay, it's always okay with James.
"Yeah of course it is" James says and Regulus is the one staring at James now, he wants him, he wants every single part of him but he feels like he doesn't belong here- here into James's life - Lily's life and he knows it but he's selfish enough to steal a bit of James for himself.
He comes closer to James, and he kisses him and James lets him gladly. Regulus touches him like he's afraid that any second James could disappear from his life completely. And they just kiss each other and stare to one another's eyes, Regulus looks at them, he never paid so much attention to anyone's eyes before. He just stops and stares at him like he's trying to memorise every second of it.
And Regulus keeps holding him, holding him so tight against him, as if that would keep us here, keep him here with me.
Safe and alive.
"I'm scared James" Regulus admits, he's done hiding his emotions, in front of James especially. It has no meaning. Because once you're dead, you just wish you would have told all the things you didn't.
"Don't be, you're here, safe with me and my dad, no one's gonna find out you're here, I won't let them hurt you again" James whispers against Regulus's skin but he just laughs.
"Not like that dumbass, I'm scared for you, I'm scared he'll find you and take you away from me" Regulus says with his eyes closed.
"I'll be okay, we'll be fine Reg" No matter how much he wants to believe him Regulus can't.

"Sirius called me this morning and I think they don't really buy the whole 'we don't want to get you sick, we have a flu' thing so what are we gonna do it's been two weeks ?" James asks while sitting at the table having breakfast.
"We should keep them away as longs as we can" Fleamont said with a sad smile.
"What if it isn't them ? What if there is no spy and they're gonna hate us for not believing them ?" James asks, it was on his mind for a while and he just can't believe it, they wouldn't do that any of them. Sirius would never he's like a brother to James, he'd die for him and there is no way he would join the dark lord especially not him. And Peter ? Peter is the most loyal friend he could ever have, he never betrayed him in anything not even small silly things. Remus is just Remus he's so honest and the nicest guy ever and the biggest hater of Voldemort. It's just not them, James thinks to himself.
"We don't know for sure and I'm sure they'll understand James, we can't risk more people knowing about this. This is a war we can't just know who to believe"
"Well why are we here ? We can't trust anyone ? What if it is me, the spy ? What if it's you ? Or Regulus? He is quite literally a death eater, he is one of them and he knows everything we're doing now ? Also who told you about all this prophecy thing ? Maybe there is no danger maybe he lied because he wanted to get into our lives again huh how that sounds to you ??!" James shouted and when he noticed his dad was staring beside James's shoulder he knew he fucked up. He looked behind and saw Regulus standing in the door.
Regulus was now staring right at him and then he just went upstairs with no words said.
He just looked at his dad hopelessly.
"I trust him James, and I also trust you but if you think it's worth the risk we could tell your friends all this and see if they react any suspiciously but we won't tell them this address or anything. Think about it first. And you should apologise to Regulus, he's been really helpful the whole time, it is not your place to judge him for who he is he didn't want to be one of them" Fleamont said calmly and James just nodded and left to living room. He thought that Regulus might want some time to process everything.
He couldn't stop thinking at it so after like ten minutes he went to find Regulus.
When he entered his room he found Regulus sleeping in his bed.
"Reg?" James said quietly to make sure he's asleep.
Normally James would let him sleep but not now, he had to deal with this now.
"Regulus-" James started shaking with his should gently and regulus's eyes were open in few seconds.
"I- hey I wanted to talk but- but then I fall asleep sorry -" Regulus started apologising and James did not see that coming at all. Why doesn't he sound mad ? Maybe he's just still sleepy .
"Regulus I'm so -"
"I'm not the spy I promise and I didn't lie" Regulus interrupted him before he could say anything. He does that a lot when he's stressed. And he rambles too.
"I mean I did lie about getting the mark but you found out anyway but I don't really - I - I would never do something to hurt you and I'm sorry that you don't trust me but I mean it's fine I can probably like move out somewhere else safe I don't want you to you know- and -" Regulus stopped and it wasn't because he wanted to, it was because he couldn't talk anymore, his lips were occupied with james's. And he liked it that way, He liked that James didn't ask if he can kiss him. He thought that he was broken, that he couldn't enjoy a kiss or touch if it is by surprise but this, this felt good and right..
"Hey I- sorry I really need you to listen okay?" James said and regulus just nodded without a word.
"Regulus I'm so so so sorry - I didn't mean any of that, I was just arguing with my dad about Sirius, Remus and Peter not knowing and I believe them as much as I believe you or my dad. It was just a shitty way to prove what I was saying. I don't think you're the spy, I don't think you lied and I do not want you to move out okay? I'm sorry it was a shitty things to say"
"And I'm sorry I should have asked for the kiss but I just needed you to shut the fuck up" James said with apologetic smile and Regulus looked at him like he was going insane.
"Can you actually - can you do that more often ?" Regulus asked.
"What ?"
"The kissing like that without asking first - it's way hotter by the way"
"I thought you don't like it so I never done it" James said with a confuse look on his face.
"Yeah me too but I guess I like it - when It's you I mean some stranger kissing me randomly would probably be terrifying" Regulus laughed lightly and James just smiled and nodded.
And then he kissed him again and regulus smiled and kissed him gladly back.
"I forgive you- for the fact that you called me a liar and if you kiss me one more time I could maybe get over the spy thing" He said teasingly and James did kiss him again in fact.
