It's too good
Regulus woke up in James's bed feeling fine. Not good just fine, not bad at all though.
James just got out of the bathroom glancing at Regulus.
"Good morning love" James whispered and Regulus smiled slightly. Something about James calling him love was so precious and priceless. Regulus was so glad he came yesterday night because he wasn't sure if he would have got out of bed today if he stayed there.
And it save him a lot of stress about meeting the Potters, he already talked to James's dad so it wasn't that big of a deal.
"morning" Regulus murmured back sleepily.
Regulus took some of his clothes he took with him, he didn't know if he should dress more casual or maybe little bit more formal. He didn't want to ask James because it would look like he care too much but he did care though.
He went with a white shirt and black trousers.
When they walked into the kitchen everyone was there already, when he looked at them he understood that he was a little overdressed.
Remus was wearing brown sweater and shorts, Sirius was still in pyjamas, James went with trousers and white tank top.
"Regulus here you are " James's mother came to him with a warm smile on her face.
"It's nice to meet you " Regulus smiled gently.
"Can I give you a hug or are you more of a hand shake person?" She asked.
"Hug is great" Regulus said without hesitation. There was actually something that made him feel so safe around James's family. They were just so caring and precious people.
As much as Regulus hated touching and any kind of physical affection especially with adults, he didn't mind Effie's hug at all.
Her arms hold him tightly but not too much, she smelled like lavender and sweet vanilla.
"It's nice to meet you too, call me Effie if you're comfortable with it. How shall I call you ?" She asked and Regulus looked at her confused for a second. He always knew that James's parents were great but they were like the most sweet and respectful people he even met.
"Regulus is fine" He smiled and she nodded.
"Okay well take whatever you like from the table " She glanced over to the kitchen table full of food.
"Okay thank you " He said and went to the table.
Sirius was sitting right there with Remus next to him, James was there too taking to his father.
It felt unreal. He just saw them all and it never occurred to him that family can feel that way.
That they just talk during breakfast, listen to each other.
The whole house felt so much nice, maybe too nice.
He was looking at the walls, there was a lot of pictures, with James as a kid. With Sirius too, there was one specific picture that Regulus kept his eyes on for a while.
It was picture from Christmas, it was the first time Regulus spend the Christmas without his brother because he visited the Potters.
He felt so betrayed because he know he would have never done such a thing to him.
No matter how many friends would want him to come over for Christmas he wouldn't leave his brother alone in that house.
Regulus never really forgave him for leaving him there during Christmas, mostly because James would be fine without Sirius, he would enjoy the holidays with his parents.
But Regulus was all alone in there.
He was more mad about the Christmas holidays then when Sirius left completely.
Because there was a reason, Mother would have killed him if he resist just a little bit more.
He blames him sometimes but he wouldn't want it to be differently.
"Hey Reggie ?" Sirius called on him and he realised that he kind of zooned out while looking at the picture. He does that sometimes, zooning out randomly when he feels overwhelmed or too interested in something. This time it was probably mix of both.
"Hey Sirius" Regulus greeted him and sat on the chair right next to him.
"You alright ? " Sirius asked gently, it was actually kind of pissing Regulus off when someone asked him that question. What is he supposed to say ? Usually when people ask that qustion they already assume that he's not okay. So when he says he is it sounds like a lie. It usually is a lie but that isn't the main point of it.
"I don't know " He says instead, maybe because he didn't know what else to say and maybe because he just felt like lying to Sirius was pretty pointless.
"It's weird huh ? Being here, it's too good right" Sirius said and Regulus nodded, it was exactly how he felt it was all so unfamiliar and they were too kind and polite and respectful and they were too perfect family.
"Yeah, it's kinda weird " Regulus murmured and Sirius smiled lightly.
"You'll get used to it, it took me like two months to accept the fact that I won't be punished for breaking a plate by accident" Sirius said immediately regretting it after he realised that Regulus still lives in that house, that for him that isn't just memorising the old awful days.
"sorry" Sirius murmured after.
"So when do you guys leave ?" Effie asked sitting down next to Remus.
"Around noon " Sirius answered and Regulus looked a bit confused and James noticed the confusion in Regulus's face.
"Oh yeah we're going camping for three days, I didn't tell you yesterday because I didn't want to bother you, you seemed tired" James acknowledged him.
"Oh okay -I didn't really took camping clothes though" Actually all Regulus took with him was few sweaters, shirts black trousers and jeans that weren't even his own but Sirius's.
"It's fine I can lend you mine" Sirius said cheerfully curled up to Remus.

"Come on we're leaving now Pads ! Peter is gonna be here every minute!" Remus shouted and Sirius rushed down the stair with all his things.
"I'm ready " He said cheerfully, they were just waiting for Peter now.
"Pete is here !" Effie called from the kitchen when he saw him through the window.
"Enjoy it and come back alive" James's dad said jokingly and he hugged all the boys, James got the longest hug but Sirius got better one from Effie. Regulus got hugs too, it was kind of awkward when they asked if they are allowed to hug him. Well it was great that they asked but still he hated the fact that it didn't come naturally with him as with the others.
"We'll try not to die " Peter joked and then they left.
It was really hot outside, Regulus really underestimate the weather when he took all the sweaters.
They were going somewhere and none of them really knew where, Pete said he knew a place. Noone really questioned where were they going so they could just hope that Pete knows what's he doing.
