Chapter 1

People could live a hundred years without living for a minute—And some of them won’t even past to sixteen.

„Sometimes I wish, we were still eleven. Young and naiv“

„We‘re still young, Sam“

„But some people lived through a lot shit in our age“

Hogwarts was never a pleasant place for Scorpius—around all the bully’s and drug dealer. He never really felt comfortable.

Of course. Not everyone was like that. He has friends—good friends even. And one of them was the best thing that could ever happen to him in life.

„What‘d you thinking about?“ Albus asked as he noticed that his best friend zoned out and starred right at a point behind him

His green eyes flicked through the compartment in the Hogwarts Express and the sun made his black hair look lighter.

„Nothin‘“ Scorpius said. „Just thinkin‘“

„Me too“ Albus said quietly. Their voices echoed through the compartment and got stuck in the air

There’s nothing left to say—Scorpius is thinking about how it was used to be. Returning to Hogwarts. Sitting at the compartment with four other people who used to know everything about each other.

„Maybe next time we just hex her“

„Or make her cry“

„or maybe, don’t do anything to her?“

„Oh, I forgot how cute you are, Scor“

Scorpius feels Albus gaze burning on his skin. „Do you think it would be weird?“ Albus asked quietly. „Going back to Hogwarts After—what happened“

Of course it would be weird. It‘ll always be weird, Scorpius thinks. He can’t change what happened—it’s gonna be hard to recover from that too. „Probably“ He answers. „It’s weird already“

„so you feel that too? Okay. Thought I was the only one“ Albus bumped his feet up and down. On his green converse was written A. S. POTTER in white.

Scorpius always liked the way Albus dresses. He’s wearing mostly dark clothes—not only black tho, Green and red too. He’s newly wearing black nail polish with silver rings which makes his appearance looks more scary—its ironic, because Albus could never hurt anyone and Scorpius knows that.

Albus Potter has an ego as big as a lake but a heart that matches it.

His hands got tighter around the book that Scorpius was holding the entire time. He hadn’t had time to read yet, he was to busy studying his best friend—memorising every small detail like he could disappear any second now—disappear just like her.

A tight feeling of regret got in Scorpius his chest—questioning himself if he could have stopped it—if he didn’t let her go so far

The darkness in her heart was big—way to big for an 15 year old girl. It’s not surprising to Scorpius why she did it. It sounds harsh, but it’s the truth.

The great hall was full of chatter and laughers. It’s impressing how the time could stay still for someone—while the others move on like nothing ever happened.

Albus looks at his food without taking a bite—he just sticks his fork in it until he moved the plate away from him.

„I‘m tired“ Albus said an laid his head on the table. He rubbed his eyes—which made them look red—like he just cried or he’s on drugs.

Black hair brushed lightly on his cheek. Hugging your friends made Scorpius day ten times better.

„What was that for?“ Eudora asked after they separated.

There was never an answers to that question—Scorpius just felt like one of them needed it

The great hall went quiet after Mcgonagall   Steps forward to speak. „First of all, I hope you all had a good ride back here. It’s the beginning of another School year. And for the first years—the beginning of a new chapter in life“ her voice echoed through the hall and people start clapping. „The next thing I want to say, this summer, a tragic incident happened—Jeamillia Davis was a smart student here, we‘re all very sad that we lost her—and to honer her, we gonna have a Silence minute. She was loved by a lot of people and we all gonna miss her very much“

The hall went since for full sixty seconds—every second of it was hell. The pain in Scorpius his chest grew.

After it was over, they pain was still there.

„Mcgonagall is walking straight towards us“ Albus said.

And she really did—walking around the tables until she reached us. „Malfoy, Potter. Would you come to my office before you go to your dormitory. I would like to talk to all of you“ she said and left—walking to the Hufflepuff table

„All of us?“ Scorpius asked. And his fear turns out to be true—Eudora was staring us much as confused from the Hufflepuff table as he did. She was really the last thing that Scorpius needed to deal with

„Maybe she’s talking about your multiple personality’s“ Albus said. „She wants to speak to all of you

„Well, that’s gonna be a long chat“

As the boys arrived to the office of the headmaster—they stepped in and saw their two friends standing in the room. Among them, an old woman who Scorpius never saw in his entire life.

„Alright. Everyone’s here“ Mcgonagall said cheerfully. „children, this is Ms. Sommersnow“ the old woman’s winked and smiled politely to us. „Because of the incident that happened two months ago—Ms. Summersnow is helping you to get through the year without any trouble“

You could hear a snoring laugh from Eudora‘s side of the room. „Incident?“ she said. „Sam killed herself. That was no incident“

„Ms. LaRanto, please“ McGonagall’s voice broke down at the last word. „Your parents agreed to—and also thought it would be a good idea, if you got someone to talk to“ she said after getting her voice back

„That’s why I’m here“ the voice of the old woman was high pitched which gave Scorpius uncomfortable chills. „You can talk to me about everything you want. Whatever is on your mind. And I’m excited to meet you all. Your appointments are-„

„Appointments? So this isn’t even our choice if we want to do this or not“ Eudora starts to argue. „Because, I’m not doing that shit. Sam is dead, I’ll move in. Done“

„I see“ Summersnow said. „So you suppress your true feelings. That’s one of the harder way to recover from that kind of trauma, but it’s very common“

Scorpius tried to hide a smile—because Eudora looked like she just got exposed, and now she’s pissed. Besides him, Timothy Sinclair—one of Sam‘s mutuals—looked pail and absolutely not in the mood to laugh about anything

„Whatever“ is the only thing she said before leaving the office

„So, I was about to say. Your appointment are in progress right now. Meaning, you‘ll receive a letter from me in a few days. Until than, take care“

As the boys left the office—Eudora leaned against the wall in the hallway—faces covered Form her hands.

„Well“ Albus started talking and everyone looked at him. „That went well“

Eudora looked up and gave him a sarcastic smile. Her eyes look red like she just cried seconds ago. But she would never do that

Showing feelings in public is the most embarrassing shit you can do“

She once said—Scorpius disagreed in silence tho. Showing feelings is actually very strong—not everyone can do that because they‘re embarrassed. But it just means you were holding your tears back way to long—crying is a relief from all the emotions you have to carry with you for days.

„Don’t you guys think that is bullshit, or am I the only one?“ she asked angry. Her voice echoed in the hall.

You could hear some first years around the hall running, laughing—Sometimes, Scorpius wishes, he was still eleven. Back then everything seem so normal—his life wasn’t falling apart in pieces and he was happy.

„Suck a dick, Eudora“ Albus said in the same tone as her. „we all been through shit together and now you acting like a heartless bitch“

„say that again“ she took anger steps towards him and her voice was harsch—like she’s about to throw a punch at him.

„Stop being a bitch“ Albus was confident as he said that. They gave each other angry gazes—and for a moment, Scorpius was scared they gonna hurt each other real bad

But Eudora took her steps backwards again. Gazed at Scorpius the same way she did two seconds ago to Albus. „Fuck you“ she starts. „Fuck all of you!—especially you, Scorpius“ she showed him the finger and walked down the hall—away from them—or maybe away from the pain

They never fight—they argue—but they don’t fight, that’s not what they do. Every friend group has argued from time to time—but they apologise and move on. This time, Scorpius felt a terrible pain in his chest—he felt his heart breaking

He never wanted to hurt Eudora—he still did it. He didn’t understand it at that time, but he does now. Scorpius would just like to get on his knees and apologise to her a million times, she would still regret him.

„Timothy“ Albus said quietly. „You alright?“

He didn’t answer—didn’t even looked at them and just walked off. Albus exhaled.

The last two months had been hard for everyone. After Sam passed—they hadn’t had any contact. They didn’t write each other—didn’t even ask how they‘re doing. It’s the first time they see each other after the funeral.

All of this memory’s coming back at once—it hurts.

The two friends went back to their dorm room. They‘re sharing a room—just them and no one else. Scorpius never understood why, maybe there was just nobody left who would join them in the dorm—but he’s happy about it. The late night conversation with Albus Are the best.

As the young Malfoy looked at the mirror while brushing his teeth—all he saw was his pail skin with dark eye bags. His skin was matching with his blond hair—he looked exhausted. He has trouble sleeping at night, it got worst after Sam left. His dad insisted to give him a sleeping potion the day before he returned to Hogwarts so he won’t oversleep.

He spit in the sink and went to his bed. As he steps through the doorway, he sees a shirtless Albus Potter—his hair falling down in his face and you could see slightly his mussels on his upper body.

Scorpius freezes at the doorway—he saw his best friend changing before, but this time is different. Albus changed—his jaw line went straighter and he looks more masculine now.

Albus pulled his shirt over his head and throws himself in his bed. „You alright?“ he asked as he sees Scorpius not moving on the doorway—mouth slightly opened

„I‘m alright“ he said with his raspy voice.

Albus glanced back to the book he was ready—which was unusual, Albus hates reading.

„Is that my book?“ Scorpius asked as he looked at the cover

„Yes. it’s depressing. I love it“

„But you hate reading“

„not true“ he said sarcastically offended. „I have read many books before in my life, Mr. Malfoy“

„Oh yea? How many?“

„I don’t know. I stoped counting after three“

„Impressive“

Albus laughed. That laugh triggers something in Scorpius—His best friends green eyes glanced at him and he though his pulse is about to explode.

„I-„ he coughed. „We should go to sleep now“

„Alright. Night, Scor“

„Green or blue?“ Sam asked as she was holding up two tops. Her pink short hair was messy because she haven’t styled it yet. „I feel like blue is matching more with my hair. But green represents my house“

Scorpius was zoned out and started at a point right on the wall besides her. „Scor?“ she said again. „Alright, then I just go and blow up the library. I‘ll be right back“

„why do people think I’m so obsessed with the library“

„Because you‘re a massiv nerd“ she sat down on the bed and looked at him worried. „What is it?“ she asked

„Nothin‘“

„Come on, Scor. I know when you‘re upset. What’s on your mind?“ she laid her hand on his knee wich gave him the guts to tell her

„I think I fancy Albus“ his voice was quiet—Sam understood every word tho

…i fancy Albus
