Chapter 2

The next morning, Timothée woke up early to get breakfast before everyone, because he didn't want to join a group that was already together, like he tried last year at Ilvermorny. It only made him feel left out and he didn't want to repeat that. This year, he hoped people would go to him to genuinely become friends with him. When he arrived, he saw four people sitting at the Hufflepuff table, with a winged lemur. The lemur spotted him and flew to him. He made weird lemur noises and he grabbed him by the shoulder to drag him to the Hufflepuff table.

'Oh hi Timothée!' Teddy said, smiling. 'Howzit going? 's been a good night of sleep?

'Uh yeah…'Timothée answered, uneasy and flustered. 'Um, why do you want to see me? And why are you at the Hufflepuff table?'

'You have really sunny vibes,' Yamal said, munching on a pastry. 'Also, why would we sit apart when we're friends?'

'Yeah it doesn't make sense' Elena added, sipping pumpkin juice. 'Also, you can't visit other houses and you gottawin points.'

'You've been there last year Timothée, so why there's this point-winning thing?' Bǎo asked. 'Oh and c'mon, sit!'

He sat next to Bǎo and took some pie.

'I was at Ilvermorny, but it's basically the same.' Timothée answered. Yeah I don't see any sense to that either, there's no reward! And even if there were a reward, it's a dumb system that wants competition for competition. It's like they want division! I mean, the house system is cool and all, you find people that function like you, but I wish there was a support group where there are members of each house so you can work together and learn and succeed!'

When he stopped talking, he realized he got carried away. He was about to apologize, when he looked at the others and it seemed like they had an epiphany.

'I want that!' Yamal shouted. 'We should do it! Let's bloody goooooo!'

'We'll have to convince everyone.' Elena said. 'Bǎo, you're in charge of that.'

'No problem!' she said grinning, hitting her fist with her palm. 'I can do this all day.'

'What house were you in?' Teddy asked.

'Oh I was in Pukwidgie.' he replied. 'Y'know, heart, healers, stuff like that!'

'Ooooooh my gooooods!' Bǎo screeched. 'Awesome! Amazing! Incredible!'

'Is that what we talked about this summer?' Elena asked. 'Comparing what he said to…'

'Yup yup yup!' Bǎo nodded excitedly.

'Oooooooooooooh!' Elena screamed. 'Best day of my life!'

They jumped on the table and danced happily in circles with each other.

'It's about the theory isn't it ?' Yamal groaned. 'I can't blame them, they've been confirmed right in a day's span. No way… They're literally doing this!'

She smacked her head on the table. Students came in to eat, and didn't notice that people from other houses were at the Hufflepuff table, because they were tired.

'What's that theory they're dancing about? Timothée asked. 'Also, I thought Yamal was supposed to be blind.'

'She is, and let me explain.' Teddy said. 'Bǎo is obsessed with this cartoon, with the fofour elements. Water is the element of change. It's used to heal people. Bǎo forced us to learn the elements when we met Yamal because there's a blind character in the show that uses it to "see". The dance they're doing is the Dancing Dragon, from the show.'

'We weren't forced, we were actually very interested.' Yamal said. 'By force he meant that we worked a lot, because you know she's a Hufflepuff, but it paid off. It's soooooo useful! I can go everywhere without anyone now!'

Owls came in to drop letters as they looked at their timetables. Timothée, Yamal, Elena and Bǎo had a letter from their parents and Teddy had a letter from his godfather, Harry Potter. It was mostly congratulations letters, but Yamal's was a warning to be careful. Because you know, Gryffindors' main trait is reckless.

Fortunately, every single class was shared between houses, so even if they were in different houses they wouldn't be alone. They finished eating breakfast and hurried to class, except for Timothée. He had two hours of free time until his first class of the day, and he wondered if he could show up to one of their classes.

'Hey you, Reggie-like kid! ' yelled one of the teachers.

Timothée shrugged it off and got up to go to pick some of his books to read outside. He felt a hand grasping his shoulder. He turned to see a leather-clad man in his fourties with beautiful shoulder length hair and mesmerizing blue eyes.

'Aren't you supposed to go to your History of Magic class?' he asked, tilting his head like a puppy.

'Um no, I'm a second year.' he answered. 'I have two free hours until my first class.'

'You should go there anyway! I'll call Mary to warn her, and I'll call Teddy to pick you up!' he said enthusiastically.

He took a mirror and a flip phone from his pockets.

'Wait, you know him?' he asked, confused.

'What kind of dad would I be to not know my son?' he replied, amused.

He let the information sink into Timothée's brain by giving a quick call to Mary and ttapping the mirror to signal Teddy he had to come back to the Great Hall.

'Heyo wassup?' a ghost with a pixie cut asked. 'Tryna hit on my son?'

'He's your son too?' Timothée gasped.

'He's also my son.' an adult wearing a grandpa jumper said.

Teddy rushed in, Bǎo on his side.

'How many parents do you have?' Timothée asked, bewildered.

'Moomy, Dadfoot and Pronks.' Teddy answered, pointing to each designated by the nicknames as he spoke. 'Why?'

'That was more of a rhetorical question because they told me but thanks. So um, how are we going to get to class in time?' Timothée asked. 'I don't know the shortcuts there yet.'

'I do!' Pronks lifted their ghostly hand up. 'But you'll have to run to get there in time.'

'No need, we'll teach Timothée the air scooter.' Bǎo happily said. 'First you form the ball, then you gotta get on quick.'

She did exactly what she said and Teddy imitated her. Timothée decided not to think and did it right after. Pronks lunged towards the exit and let them through different corridors. Timothée focused on following them like he was doing it on a regular basis because otherwise he would doubt and lose concentration. They arrived in front of a door, they got off their air scooters and Pronks waved goodbye.

'It's a huge time saver!' Timothée excitedly claimed. 'I can't believe I never learned it!'

'Now you know!' Bǎo cheered. 'I can't wait to teach you the other elements!'

Teddy knocked on the door and they got into the History of Magic class.
