Blaise sat in the common room, flipping through a book. He had already finished his homework for the day, but he was bored. Everyone else seemed to be doing something, but Blaise had nothing else to do. He watched as Seamus and Dean argued about Quidditch and sighed. He was so bored.
"Hey Blaise! How's it going?" Zabini looked up to see Fred Weasley standing in front of him. Weasley had a huge grin on his face. Blaise had always thought that Fred was very attractive, but he had never thought of him as more than a friend. Blaise didn't have any attraction to other boys, so he had never considered dating a guy.
"It's going alright. What about you? Did you finish your Transfiguration homework?" Blaise asked, putting his book down.
"I finished it ages ago. I've been looking for George to prank someone with me, but he's not around. Have you seen him?" Fred asked.
"Last I saw him, he was in the library with his girlfriend, Hermione." Blaise responded.
"Damn." Fred muttered. "Well, I guess I'll have to find him later. Thanks for the help, Blaise."
Blaise watched as Fred walked away, his grin returning. He stared at the redhead's backside as he walked out of the common room. Blaise felt something strange in his stomach. He didn't understand what that feeling was, but he had never felt it before.
As the days went by, Blaise found himself getting more and more attracted to Fred. He couldn't understand why. He had never felt this way about another guy before. He had dated several girls in the past and never felt any attraction to boys.
It was during a Quidditch match that Blaise realized he had a crush on Fred. The Slytherin was sitting with his team up in the stands, watching the game. The score was 150-150, and whichever team scored next would win. The keeper of Slytherin caught the Quaffle and shot it towards Gryffindor's hoops. Fred dove and caught the Quaffle, saving the team. Blaise watched as Fred laughed and his smile grew.
"What are you smiling about?" Pansy asked.
"Nothing." Blaise responded.
"You've been smiling like that all game. It's not just because of the game, is it?" Blaise pretended to look at the game and not at Fred.
"No, it's not." He admitted.
"I knew it! You have a crush on one of them! Which one is it?" Pansy asked.
"Not one of them. It's him." Blaise pointed to Fred.
"What? You can't have a crush on a Gryffindor!" Draco exclaimed.
"I know that, but I just do. I don't know why, but I do." Blaise didn't understand why he had a crush on Fred either.
"You're going to have to get over this quickly then. We don't want you having a relationship with a Gryffindor." Pansy said.
"I know. I'll try to get over it." Blaise turned his attention back to the game.
Days went by and Blaise couldn't get over his crush on Fred. He spent a lot of time thinking about it. He tried to think of a reason why he was attracted to Fred. He spent so much time thinking about it that he almost missed Seamus' birthday party.
As the days went by, Blaise realized that he was bisexual. He was attracted to both boys and girls. He had always thought of himself as straight, but he wasn't. Blaise did his best to keep his sexuality a secret. He didn't want to deal with his friends' reactions.
"Hey, Blaise! Are you going to the party tonight?" Blaise looked up to see Harry standing in front of him.
"Oh, yeah. I'll be there. What time does it start?" He asked.
"It starts at 8:00. Are you sure you're going to be there? I don't want to see you missing again." Harry warned.
"I'll be there. I promise." Blaise promised, although he didn't know if he could keep his word. He had plans to meet up with Fred.
Blaise arrived at the party a few minutes late. He saw Dean and Seamus sitting in chairs with presents in their laps. Each person had to bring a gift for the person sitting next to them. Blaise walked up to his friends and put a gift in Dean's lap.
"Hey, mate. Sorry I'm late, but this is for you." Dean opened his gift and laughed at what it was.
"A book on how to pick up girls? Thanks, mate." Blaise sat down on Seamus' lap.
"Did you get my gift?" He asked.
"Yeah, I did. Thanks." Dean responded, looking at the book.
"You didn't have to get me anything." Dean insisted.
"Yeah I did. I was being rude to you by not getting you anything. Anyway, open yours next." Seamus handed him a box. Inside the box was a watch. Blaise gasped.
"It's an enchanted watch! It tells you the time in different places! Thanks, Seamus! I love it!" Blaise hugged his friend.
"You're welcome. I'm glad you like it." Seamus smiled at Blaise.
"Alright, now open my gift." Dean handed him a box. Blaise opened it and pulled out a silver chain with a heart pendant on it.
"It's beautiful." Blaise said. "What does this say?"
Dean read the inscription on the necklace. 'To the love of my life, my best friend.'
"Thank you, Dean. You didn't have to get me a gift." Blaise said.
"Of course I did. I love you, mate. You're my best friend, and I'm glad I have you as mine." Dean smiled at Blaise.
Blaise smiled back and leaned in to give Dean a kiss on the cheek. He pulled away and looked at Dean's face. He was blushing and had a shocked look on his face. Blaise wondered what he was thinking.
"Wow. Thank you again. I'm glad I'm your best friend too." Dean finally spoke.
"What was that for?" He asked.
"I just wanted to thank you more personally." Blaise responded.
"Oh." Dean seemed to be thinking about something else. He didn't say anything else, and the party continued on.
