Chapter 2
Children are a product of their parents, if not socially, then biologically. Amelie Black was a perfect mix of hers when she was born: dark blonde hair like her mother, but shining grey eyes like her father. She laughed lots as a child, giggling loudly just like her father did - 'I do not giggle Prongs'.
As she grew up, Amelie looked more and more like her father: a sharp jawline and a haunted look in her eyes, you couldn't inherit that.
Grace Marsh, her mother, died when she was only one, cornered in her small flat, pretending her daughter wasn't in the room next to her. She died protecting her.
Sirius Black, her father, went to prison when she was two, for betraying his best friends, Amelie's own godparents.
"We raised you, took care of you, and this is how you show gratitude?" is what Lucius Malfoy screamed at her in October 1990 after Amelie had returned home from Hogwarts for half term, he could finally express his disappointment with the new Gryffindor of the family.
The Malfoy's had become her legal guardians only a few months after her father's arrest. The ministry refused to give a werewolf a child, and the Malfoys knew the judge who declared that Andromdrea Tonks could not take the young girl.
9 years later, and Amelie didn't know why they wanted her. They had a son of their own, perhaps they wanted to make her one of them. She was a pureblood on both sides of her family, but she knew her father didn't talk to Narcissa.
When she was 8, she remembered hearing Narcissa propose a marriage between their son, Draco, and her. These dreams were washed away when the sporting hat declared her a Gryffindor.
Her first year at Hogwarts was...lonely. The Gryffindor's recognised her surname and refused to befriend her. She focussed on her studies that year, excelling in everything bar potions - Severus Snape was a bitter man, who never liked looking at a girl who's mother once called him ' a slimy piece of wank who needs to leave Lily Evans the fuck alone'.
Amelie's second year was much more eventful. It'd started with her bumping into two twins at Kings Cross and ended with her listening to her newly discovered godbrother explain how he was nearly killed.
Fred and George were good friends, they were in the year above Amelie and helped her with a few charms here and there - using her ideas for pranks in exchange. It's why in her third year, she felt so bad for them, discovering that Voldermort himself had manipulated their younger sister into trying to get Harry killed.
Amelie still didn't really talk to the boy. Neither knew much about their parents, but there was a silent understanding that deep in their minds, there were hidden memories of them playing together as babies.
Amelie preferred not to think about her family, or about Harry.
That all changes in August 1993, when her father escapes prison, and she and Harry discover who their parents really were.
