Say you won’t let go

“I met you in the dark, you lit me up” Remus smiled, tucking a stray lock of curly, shoulder length hair behind Sirius’ ear, Sirius was gazing up at him, with starry eyes and soft smiles, he already knew he was gone for Sirius, knew he had been for an impossibly long time.

“You made me feel as though, I was enough” he whispered, pressing his forehead gently to Sirius’, it was quiet, just the two of them, late at night in the Gryffindor tower where they shared a bed most nights.

“We danced the night away” Remus smiled, reminiscing the night they had gotten together, a Gryffindor versus Slytherin victory leading to a party in the common room, including drinking games, a lot of dancing and far too much fire whisky. “We drank too much” Sirius laughed quietly, burying his face between the juncture of Remus’ neck and shoulder.

“I held your hair back when, you were throwing up” Remus laughed, burying his face in Sirius’ hair, he had took care of Sirius that night, he promised himself that he always would.

“When you smiled over your shoulder, for a minute I was stone cold sober” Remus whispered, remembering how Sirius’ smile had lit up the room that night more than any light ever could. “I pulled you closer to my chest” Sirius hummed happily in agreement and Remus began running gentle fingers through Sirius’ hair, “when you asked me to stay over, I said I already told you, I think that you should get some rest” Remus laughed quietly.

Sirius laughed back, meeting his eyes and kissing him lightly. “I knew I loved you then, but you’d never know” Sirius cupped his face lightly as Remus thought of how much he’d loved Sirius even then, how he didn’t know what it meant, but knew that he would die for him, would kill for him, would watch the world burn as long as he held Sirius in his arms.

“Cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go. I knew I needed you, but I never showed”. he admitted, Sirius laughed, “you weren’t the only one suppressing moonymine” he said softly, Remus laughed, “but I wanna stay with you until we’re getting old. Just say you won’t let go ?” He asked hesitantly, Sirius kissed him, longingly and lovingly, “I’m never letting you go re” he smiled softly, holding him close.

“I’ll wake you up with some breakfast in bed, I’ll bring you coffee with a kiss on your head” Sirius smiled, his heart hammering in his chest at his moony, sleeping soundly beside him, his heart ached in his chest at all the lost time, at all the shattered promises, but he would spend his last seconds making sure moony was happy.

“I’ll take the kids to school wave them goodbye” Sirius entertained himself with a picture in his mind of Harry, riding on his shoulders as he apparated them to kings cross station and charged through the barrier to the Hogwarts express, moony at his side. Moony was always there. Harry was 14 now sure, but, it was still possible, wasn’t it ?

“I thank my lucky stars for that night” he whispered, it was true, he silently thanked every star in the sky that Remus was at Hogwarts when he had escaped askaban, that moony had found him again, that somehow he would always find his way back to his moon.

“When you looked over your shoulder, for a minute I forget that I’m older” Sirius laughed as Remus smiled at him, he forgot all the years that he’d aged in that moment. The little living room flat buzzing with happiness as Sirius finally finally took Remus in his arms again.

“I wanna dance with you right now” he smiled, placing his hands on Remus’ shoulders, Remus laughed and placed his hands on his hips, swaying them gently, eyes bright and never leaving his own,

“and you look as beautiful as ever and I swear that every day you get better, you make me feel this way somehow” he smiled, tears in his eyes as he took in his moony, older but still just as comforting, just as loving, extra scars, tired eyes and a battered frame but still as beautiful as ever.

“I’m so in love with you, and I hope you know, darling your love is more then worth it’s weight in gold” he said, tears escaping his eyes as he pressed his forehead to Remus’, moony smiled, wiping his tears away and gently kissing both cheeks,

“We’ve come so far my dear, look how we’ve grown” he said, Remus kissed him soundly on the lips, spinning him in a perfect twirl to Sirius’ delight.

“And I wanna stay with you until we’re getting old. Just say you won’t let go ?” He whispered, hands holding Moony’s face close to his own, heart hammering as Remus continued kissing him, his head, his cheeks, lightly on the lips. “Never, I’m never letting you go Sirius”.

“I wanna live with you, even when we’re ghosts. Cause you were always there for me when I needed it most.” They said together, breathing in each other, foreheads pressed close, hearts hammering, eyes bright and lustful.

“I’m gonna love you till, my love gives out, I promise till death we part like In our vowels” Sirius smiled, kissing him, fitting their hands together so the soothing, cold rings were pressed together.

“now everybody knows, darling it’s just you and me until we’re getting old” Remus smiled, pressing the cold metal to Sirius’ alabaster skin. Just say you won’t let go ?” He whispered it, like a question, he couldn’t loose his star a second time.

“I won’t let go. I promise re. I won’t let go” Sirius repeated, like a promise, like a prayer, he would never let his moon go again.
