A Lion In A Snake's Nest

It didn't take as long as Draco had thought, until Severus and Lupin finally agreed on sending for the headmaster, who arrived minutes later with the prime minister in tow.

It took a full on interrogation with veritaserum followed by a confession from Peter Pettigrew, for the adults in the room to finally notice the two teens still crammed into a loveseat, watching animately with big eyes.

So when both off them were send of to their respective common rooms, it was almost time for breakfast again. So instead of one walking back to the dungeons while the other hurrier up the staircases to Gryffindor tower, the teens silently agreed making their way straight to the great hall.

There were a few students already eating at their tables, though nobody looked up at the odd pairing that sat down on Slytherin table.

Draco didn't even really notice the Gryffindor sliding into the spot next to him until he felt the charm waver again. Had it really already been 8 hours?

Instead of casting the spell yet again Draco stole a pen from a Slytherin student that was doing his homework next to them and drew a symbol on his hand. The rune immediately took effect. It worked even better than the charm, Draco found.

Potter glanced at the rune in interest, but didn't say anything else. Probably too occupied with his thoughts.

"Do you think it'll be in the papers today? That he's innocent I mean? And that Peter Pettigrew has been found."
Potter shrugged noncommittal. Draco was sure he wouldn't answer at all but then he did.

"I hope so. The minister left earlier than we did."
Potter stared down at his food.
"It must be so awful to be locked away for years, knowing your innocent, but not able to prove it."

Potter picked up a sandwich and observed it absentmindedly.
"You think he'll read it in the paper?"

Draco nodded.
"Yes. But he'll think it's a lie I reckon. Something to draw him out. So I presume he'll go to someone he trusts to comfirm it."

Potter looked at Draco then and the white haired boy raised his eyes too.
"Thank you. Again. For saving him."

Draco's eyebrows shot up.
"What?"
Was this some weird kind of Deja Vu?

"If you hadn't caught Pettigrew, Sirius would still be comsidered a criminal."

Well that was a bit true, but Draco reckoned that it wouldn't have taken long for Lupin to recognize his friends Animagus form. Or for someone to see his name on the Mauraders Map. Black would've found the rat in the end. Something told Draco that Black had a nose for finding people.

"We'll have to wait and see whether me catching Pettigrew was a good thing."
The Slytherin next to them had finally noticed them, as well as his pen in Draco's hand, grabbing it while throwing the Gryffindor that was still wearing his bluish pajamas a weird look.

"Aren't you in Gryffindor?"
The student snarled at the Chosen One. Potter blinked looking around at the table he was sitting on for the first time. His cheeks went up in flame.
"Oh right. Sorry."
He stood up looking down on himself, his face colouring itself mire crimson.
"I should probably go change as well."

He was still carrying the invisiblility cloak in one arm, so Draco pointed at it amused.
"If I were you I'd use that."
He mused. Potter nodded, a nervous snile painted on his face.

"Right. Yes. Thank you again."

Then the black haired boy turned and was gone. Draco stiffled a laugh and returned to his food. At the look the studying student threw Draco, the vampire rolled his eyes and used his wand to clean himself up further, righting his robes and straightening any wrinkles.

"Tosser."
Draco threw at the other Slytherin before Draco finally relax now that there wasn't a delicious meal walking or sitting next to him.
Instead he gifted his full attention towards the breakfast before him.
It was nothing like Porlock blood, but sandwiches were placed at a close second.
